Dale Fetzer began his career in 1988 as an extra, and sometime technical advisor, on "Gore Vidal's Lincoln" starring Sam Waterson and Mary Tyler Moore. In 1989 Ray Herbeck Jr hired Fetzer to create a Civil War regiment for the film "Glory". He played the uncredited role of Lt. Colonel Edward Hallowell of the 54th Mass. Infantry. Fetzer choreographed the bayonet drill sequence and trained the regiment of extras in the intricacies of 19th century military drill. Following "Glory", he worked with Ray Herbeck Jr again for TNT's "Ironclads" fulfilling much the same role as in the production of "Glory". In 1990 Fetzer joined forces with Robert Rothbard as an associate producer and 1st assistant director on the independent feature, "The Life and Times of Charle Putz". In 1991 Fetzer was hired as Reenactor Coordinator and Military Choreographer for "The Last of the Mohicans". In tandem with Captain Dale Dye, USMC Ret. Fetzer trained the British and French Soldiers in 18th century drill as well as coordinating the battle sequences. In 1992 he was hired as Military Choreographer for the Turner Picture's feature film "Gettysburg". Fetzer was responsible for all things military as well creating the battle sequences throughout the film. He also acted as the 3rd unit director filming many of the large battle inserts as well as the Father Colby blessing the Irish Brigade sequence. He directed over 5000 military extras for this production. In 1993 TNT produced "Avenging Angels" and Fetzer's Company, Historical Impressions, Inc. brought on for pre-production and filming. In 1994 Fetzer began work as Military Choreographer / Historian for Turner's "Andersonville". He and director John Frankenhiemer worked closely together to create the atmosphere of the notorious POW camp. In 1998 Fetzer worked for Ang Lee's "Ride with the Devil". Fetzer also co-authored the book "Unlikely Allies, Fort Delaware's Prison Community in the Civil War." Since 2019 he is back with partner Robert Rothbard working on an upcoming miniseries "NorthStar".
