When Colin Farrell was cast as Oswald Cobblepot, The Penguin, in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, many fans were skeptical as they did not know what to expect from the interpretation. Farrell definitely did not look the part, but the costume design crew did an amazing job and Farrell delivered a brilliant villain who was so good that HBO ordered a standalone spin-off series focusing on The Penguin. The series, which will be titled The Penguin, is set to be released later this year and we have just today received some interesting casting rumors!
Namely, we know that Farrell is reprising his role and that the series will focus on Penguin taking over Gotham’s criminal underworld after the death of Carmine Falcone (played by John Turturro in the film) at the hands of the Riddler.
The series will obviously focus on Penguin’s clash with what remains of the Falcone family,...

Welcome back to another week of the good/bad featuring Gotham. Will this week have more good now that it seems Cobblepot will be recruiting some of the Gotham's Rouges Gallery, or will we get another story line to add to the mix? Read on to find out:
Good: The Rouges Gallery -- I've always enjoyed when a number of enemies team-up for a common goal. Whether it was in the comics, or even Batman 66, team-ups are always awesome. I am glad they brought Mr. Freeze back into the scene. I thought that the Victor Fries story line was another that fell victim to being rushed, so I am glad that he has been brought back. Firefly is returning as well, so that will leave her, Penguin, Ivy, and Freeze going against The Riddler. I also like the fact that they keep using the term...

Gotham returns with an all new episode focused on The Court of Owls. Will the episode continue its decent story line from last week, or will it be character overload? Read on to find out the good and the bad from "These Delicate and Dark Obsessions".
Good: The Return of Penguin -- Even though he has been a part of the entire season, it is good to see Penguin back to his vengeful ways. When Cobblepot was mayor, and "in love" with Nygma, the character seemed to lack excitement. Now that he has been wronged by the Riddler, he looks to be changing back into the character we all enjoyed. His psychotic rage near the end of the episode helped restore my faith in the character, and the direction the writers look to be taking him. Watch for he and Nygma to go head-to-head, much like...

Jerome is back! After last week’s return from the mid-season hiatus, Gotham looks to come back in full force. They are starting yet another plot line. My main issue with Gotham this season is that it doesn’t seem to know what direction it wants to go. All the hype prior to Season 3 revolved around The Court of Owls. Remember them? They have been a part of this season…kind of. There was the Tetch story line, which was good, then the Barnes story line, which wasn’t. Next came the Mario Falcone plot, which was good, and lead to a great mid-season finale only to return with disappointment. Last week started well with a rightfully mad Lee demanding Gordon’s arrest all while Carmine sent Zsasz after him. This was a wasted opportunity as Lee went to visit Barnes and pulled a 180 telling Carmine...

Oswald goes off the rails and Lee somehow still loves Jim in a predictable midseason premiere episode of Gotham...
This review contains spoilers.
See related Power Rangers, boob armour, and impractical costumes
3.12 Ghosts
Gotham is back and it continues to stumble through the middle of its season. There were a few things to like here — Ghosts saw the return of some popular faces in Paul Reubens (Penguin's dad) and Cameron Monaghan (Jerome) — but, for the most part, the midseason premiere was a predictable slog through plot mechanics we've seen on this show.
Someone tries to kill Gordon, but he manages to escape certain death. Lee kind of hates Jim Gordon, but just can't quit him totally.
Ghosts picks up a few days after Jim shot and killed Mario Falcone in order to save Lee's life. Well, we know it was to save Lee's life. Carmine Falcone and Lee Thompkins aren't too sure.

Gotham is back with episode 3 of season 3! What does this episode have in store for viewers? Will Gordon meet with Lee? Are Fish and Strange actually out of the picture for awhile? How will Benedict Samuel's portrayal of Mad Hatter go over with fans? Check out my review below to find out!
****Spoilers for Gotham: Season 3 Episode 3****
Episode 3 opens with Jervs Tetch opening as a hypnotist at Barbara and Tabitha's bar. Barbara is intrigued by Jervis' ability to hypnotize, and make people do whatever they internally desire. My first thought is that she wants Tetch to help her hypnotize Gordon into being under her control. This could present an interesting parallel between Gordon, Barbara and Tetch. The Hatter later breaks into a house and it is truly eerie. I enjoyed Benedict Samuel's portrayal of Mad Hatter. This is the first live action version of the character since the 60's,...

Gotham - Season 3 has announced that Benedict Samuel (The Walking Dead) will be playing Jervis Tetch aka Mad Hatter. Fox has stated that Tetch will be portrayed as an individual new to Gotham who is searching for his sister, Alice, who disappeared in the city years prior. The description goes on to describe Tetch as a hypnotist who is on the verge of madness.
These descriptions seem to pay some homage to the comics, while still implementing new aspects of the character's mythos. In the comics, The Mad Hatter, first appearing in 1948, is a scientist who invents devices to influence, and manipulate, the minds of his victims. The character was created to reflect "The Hatter" from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
This news follows other new additions to the cast including Maggie Geha as Poison Ivy, James Carpinello as Mario Falcone, and Jamie Chung as Valerie Vale. Stay tuned...

...and down the rabbit hole we go! TV Line is reporting that Benedict Samuel has joined the cast of Gotham season three as Jervis Tetch a.k.a. the Mad Hatter! It's uncertain when he'll make his series debut, but Fox & Warner Bros., in a joint announcement, described him as "a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. He arrives in Gotham with an unwavering desire to find his sister, Alice, a young woman who went missing in the city years ago." He's the fourth major acquisition for the hit superhero prequel drama, which is having quite the offseason, having already added James Carpinello (The Punisher) as Mario Falcone, Jamie Chung (Once Upon A Time) as Valerie Vale, and Maggie Geha (Ted 2) as Poison Ivy. Samuel is best known for his roles as the Alpha Wolf on AMC's post-apocalyptic horror drama The Walking Dead and as Felix Crawford...

June 23, 2016 – by Mark Cook
Following the news that Jamie Chung had been cast as Valerie Vale, Maggie Geha as an updated Poison Ivy, and rumors that casting for the Mad Hatter are currently in place, Fox has now cast James Carpinello as Mario Falcone. Carpinello is best known for his work in Person of Interest and The Good Wife.
First introduced in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s Batman: Dark Victory, Mario Falcone is one of the sons of mob boss Carmine Falcone, who was set to be the heir to the Falcone Family.
Gotham: Season 3 looks to present Carpinello’s Mario Falcone as rejecting the family “business”, and looks to establish himself as an Ivy League alumni currently working as an ER doctor. He will also be used to create tension between Jim Gordon and Lee Thompkins’ relationship.

James Carpinello ("The Mob Doctor," "Gangster Squad") has signed on to play Mario Falcone, son of mob boss Carmine Falcone, in the third season of Fox's "Gotham" says TV Line.
In the series Mario has rejected his family's criminal ways and made a legitimate life for himself as a well-respected ER doctor. He's kind, honest and trustworthy, the black sheep of the Falcone clan.
But his arrival will create difficulty in the personal life of Jim Gordon who is trying to win back his pregnant fiancee Leslie Thompkins.
Carpinello will recur in the role throughout the season. "Gotham" returns to screens on September 19th.
