“How many of you had ‘Mark Hamill will lead the press briefing’ on your bingo cards?” the Star Wars icon joked as he took the podium at the White House. “Yeah, me either.”
It’s not such a far-fetched idea, however, when one considers the date. It’s May 3, the last weekday before that sacred Star Wars holiday, May the Fourth. Also, anyone who follows the quick-witted Hamill on social media knows he’s a staunch Democrat.
For his support, Hamill got to meet with Biden before the press briefing and, while Hamill noted that he had visited the White House during the terms of both Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama, “I never was invited into the Oval Office.”
Sounds like he finally checked that one off his bucket list.
“I only expected to be there for, like, five minutes,” Hamill said of his meeting with Biden, “[but] he showed us all these photographs…...

There's a case to be made that Chris Hemsworth is the most talented of the Marvel Studios Chrises. He's got great comedic energy and leaned into that with his later performances as Thor (even if he admittedly went overboard in "Thor: Love and Thunder"). His vengeance-driven God of Thunder is the highlight of "Infinity War" too.
He's also making interesting career choices. I'm a Captain America fan, but Chris Evans has not challenged himself as an actor since "Snowpiercer." ("Knives Out" was just him dusting off his pre-Cap screen persona of a cocky a-hole.) Chris Pratt has waltzed his way into being Hollywood's leading voice actor despite his anonymous performances in "The Super Mario Brothers" and soon, "The Garfield Movie." Hemsworth takes paycheck gigs (see: "Extraction" and his voice acting turn as young Optimus Prime in "Transformers: One" this coming Summer), but he shows ambition too. La La Land received one of the most memorable do-over moments in Hollywood history when the film was incorrectly announced as the Best Picture winner at the 2017 Academy Awards, which was actually presented to Moonlight. But the film’s leading man Ryan Gosling would rather go back and change a more crucial, aesthetic error about the movie: it’s promotional poster.
“La La Land. There is a moment that haunts me,” Gosling recently told The Wall Street Journal Magazine when asked if there were any particular roles he would want to do over.

It has been a long five years since Chris Evans said goodbye to the role of Steve Rogers, aka the Og Captain America. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve hands over his shield to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, who is finally ready to become to next Cap. Although we had glimpses of him coming to terms with this new responsibility in the Disney+ show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam will finally get his turn as the next leader.

At the end of the Disney+ show, Sam wore a version of the Captain America suit, which wasn’t appreciated by most fans. The suit was a gift from the Dora Milaje and made from vibranium. Most noticeably, it was fit with Wilson’s trademark retractable wings, keeping parts of his Falcon persona,...

When Russo Brothers Almost Quit On Captain America: Civil War (Photo Credit –Instagram/IMDb)
Captain America: Civil War beautifully set the stage in a way for the Avengers: Infinity War. When Tony Stark reveals to Bruce Banner that the Avengers have broken up, Bruce innocently questions him, “Like the Beetles?” It generated a lot of laughs in the theatres, but that might not have been possible if Marvel’s Creative Committee stopped the Russo brothers from pitting Tony and Steve Rogers against each other in the 2016 movie.
Civil War was directed by the director sibling duo Joe Russo and Anthony Russo and featured most of the Avengers. However, Thor and Hulk were not part of the film. It featured Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch,...

French filmmaker Romain Gavras, whose previous credits include the drama Our Day Will Come, the crime comedy The World Is Yours, and the thriller Athena, is set to make his English-language debut with a new film called Sacrifice, and he has assembled a jaw-dropping cast for it. Deadline reports that Sacrifice, which is described as having “a similar combustible and propulsive anarchy” to Athena while being “closer to satire,” is set to star Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame), Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Salma Hayek Pinault (Magic Mike’s Last Dance), and Brendan Fraser (The Whale).
Scripted by Gavras and Will Arbery (who won a WGA award for working on Succession), Sacrifice will show us what happens when a high end charity gala is raided by a violent group of radicals on a mystical quest to fulfill a prophecy. The script was just sent out to talent four days ago,...

Though no plot details have been unveiled this far, Golshifteh Farahani and Tahar Rahim (A Prophet) will lead the film, Deadline reports. “Alpha is Julia’s most personal, profound work yet, and we are looking forward to a global audience discovering the story with as much excitement as we did,” said Filmnation and Charades, while the producers added, “Alpha is a new page in Julia Ducournau’s corpus that is both very consistent with the previous ones and entirely new in its tone.”

Fierce protests: The 2024 Cannes Film Festival opens in less than a fortnight and is once again set to be the backdrop to fierce French labor protests. Zac revealed earlier this week that a collection of around 200 French film festival workers — a combination of Cannes workers and workers from other festivals across France — are planning protests during the event over pay. The group’s frustrations are two-fold: they are first rallying against the pay packages they receive from their employers, which they say are inadequate and do not account for arduous overtime hours frequently clocked due to job demands, while the second bone of contention is France’s unique unemployment insurance program for entertainment workers and technicians. Known as Intermittence de Spectacle, the scheme supports entertainment workers on...

Exclusive: Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault and Brendan Fraser will star in Sacrifice, a film co-written and to be directed by Romain Gavras. Like his last film Athena that premiered last Venice and was released on Netflix, Sacrifice has a similar combustible and propulsive anarchy coursing through the film.
This is closer to satire, but the script by Gavras and Will Arbery was strong enough to compel the leads to commit over the span of four days since the script was sent to talent. More actors will be set shortly, and I expect that the project — CAA Media Finance is selling the world with Rocket Science — won’t have a lot of territories left by the time buyers hit the Croisette. All the elements are there to launch Gavras as a major writer-director, here making his first English-language film.

Before Chris Pratt donned the iconic Star-Lord suit in the MCU, he was known as the lovable Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. Pratt’s characters prior to his superhero transformation often embodied a larger physique, evidenced by his deliberate weight gain of 60 pounds for the film Delivery Man, because he believed it suited the character.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might play a heel (bad guy) on WWE television, but it seems his real-life behavior has also made him a villain on the set of his various film and TV projects. In a new report from The Wrap, several insiders claimed Johnson is partly responsible for causing major delays and production issues with the upcoming Prime Video holiday movie Red One, which also stars Captain America actor Chris Evans. The report notes how Johnson was regularly late to set, allegedly sometimes seven to eight hours late per day and other times missing “several entire days of production.” Others claimed the pro-wrestler’s unprofessionalism caused the film’s budget to balloon to over $250 million. “The only thing Dwayne was consistent at was being chronically late,” one Red One insider told the publication. “It was a f****** disaster,” said another source, while one noted, “Dwayne truly doesn’t...

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of the biggest names in Hollywood and an actor and entertainer who has a big fanbase and a lot of influence. Starting out as a WWE star, he soon transitioned to television and movies, becoming one of the most popular action stars in the world. Known, more or less, as a laid-back guy with an open mind, The Rock is quite popular, but it seems that he is not the most pleasant guy to work with and that his work ethic isn’t that commendable.
This new report comes from the set of the upcoming Red One movie, which is set to come out on November 15, 2024 and will be a Christmas action movie with Johnson in the main role. Alongside him, the movie will star Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, and Mary Elizabeth Ellis, as well as Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons in the role of Santa Claus.

Robert Downey Jr. thinks highly of one of his Avengers co-stars who had a much more difficult time figuring out his character in the initial stages of the MCU. Downey Jr. shared that Hemsworth’s character was a lot trickier to adapt than his billionaire playboy superhero, Chris Evans’ no-nonsense Cap, or Scarlett Johansson’s badass S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Being a God figure, Hemsworth and the director of the first film, Kenneth Branagh, had to balance the character’s complex psyche.

The year 2023 was one to forget for Marvel Studios. Time hasn’t been kind to them since Avengers: Endgame rocked the world. That was the peak for MCU, wasn’t it? Who doesn’t remember fans going crazy for a movie that was almost a decade in the making. Ten years of lore was all leading up to that one moment. Marvel Studios' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is now available on 4K Uhd and Blu-ray Steelbook, and IGN has shared a deleted scene from the first episode of the Disney+ series.
Titled "Flight Lesson," the sequence picks up after Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) gives his speech at a ceremony where Captain America's shield is being put on display at a museum. Wilson still has some reservations about taking up the mantle that was passed to him by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in Avengers: Endgame, and speaks to Col. James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) about it.
Wilson notes that his former teammate appears to be fully recovered from the accident which left him almost paralysed in Civil War, and Rhodey says he doesn't "need the hardware" any more thanks to a new procedure. Sam then apologizes for his part in what happened, and Rhodey assures his friend that there are no hard feelings.

Chris Evans first played Steve Rogers in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger and, after multiple appearances across the MCU (including in the Avengers and Spider-Man franchises), the actor finally bid farewell to the role in Avengers: Endgame.
Steve has been M.I.A. ever since, though his final fate still hasn't been revealed to us. However, with the Multiverse in play, there are endless possibilities regarding Captain America's return in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Evans is now a lock for that movie. While we anticipate him assembling alongside the other original six Avengers as the "classic" Cap, we'd bet on the actor playing a few different Variants as well.
Below, you'll find some of the most exciting, intriguing, and likely possibilities...

Despite its widespread acclaim, certain elements, including the action sequences and the level of violence, left some fans divided. In a revealing insight, the writer of the show Beau DeMayo shared the inspiration behind the intensity of violence in the show, revealing a surprising parallel to Chris Evans’ Captain America films.
Captain America Movies Significantly Influenced Moon Knight’s Violence
While Marvel has recently embraced a more mature approach to its projects, has steered clear of incorporating R-rated content into its franchise. It has left some fans disappointed, especially when it comes to certain characters not fully embodying the intense nature depicted in the comics.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently made his grand return to wrestling with the WWE, but the star might be taking his "heel" persona a little too far these days.
There's absolutely nothing unusual in Hollywood when it comes to the delicate art of managing high-profile egos -- just ask Vin Diesel, who knows all too well from his days bumping heads with his famous co-star during the "Fast and Furious" saga -- but things seem to have escalated to a whole new level on the set of Amazon Studios' upcoming Christmas film "Red One." That's the latest scuttlebutt according to extensive reporting by Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap, who paints an alarming picture of habitual lateness, deeply unprofessional behavior, and producing inexperience in several crucial roles. A report was published today (April 30) about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his upcoming movie Red One.
The report said, in part, that the film ended up with a massive budget of $250 million due to “Johnson’s chronic lateness” as well as “producers’ inexperience.”
One source claimed he was as many as 8 hours late to set and the film had to be shot around his schedule, adding he reportedly missed entire days. The report also claimed this caused $50 million to be added to the budget. Meanwhile, another source shared that The Rock was only about, on average, one hour late to set!
In response to this report, one insider shared that budget issues are completely normal in the film industry. “It is completely normal for there to be budget fluctuations within 15% of the target, which is exactly what we experienced,” one insider shared.
Now, a spokesperson for Amazon MGM, the studio behind the film,...

Dakota Johnson, Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans all star in Materialists, the next film from Oscar-nominated Past Lives director Celine Song. Filming’s now underway in New York.
Given writer-director Celine Song’s elegant 2023 romance Past Lives was nominated for two Oscars – including Best Picture – it’s little surprise that trendy production company A24 was keen to work with her again.
Song’s follow-up movie is somewhat different in tone from her debut, and much starrier: in here we have Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and the phenomenally busy Pedro Pascal. According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance’s production list, filming was due to start in New York on the 15th May; there are now reports, however, that the shoot has already begun.
World of Reel has spotted a couple tweets that appear to confirm this, with one even showing Dakota Johnson on location in Manhattan. Here’s one now:...

Hugh Jackman arguably has the record for the longest tenure of an actor playing a superhero over the years. Since 2000’s X-Men, the actor has played Wolverine for almost 24 years and is returning once again in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine. Before this, the X-Men had its own universe separate from the MCU at 20th Century Fox.

The Tim-Story Fantastic Four films also existed within the Fox-Marvel ventures but were separate from the X-Men universe. However, a deleted scene featuring a morphed version of Jackman from the 2005 Fantastic Four film shows how the two properties almost merged and started an interconnected universe long before the MCU.

The MCU has faced some tough times lately, with many big movies not doing well and even breaking some bad records. A lot of the new stuff coming up gets trashed on social media before it even comes out.
Take ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ for example. There’s a chunk of fans who just won’t accept Sam Wilson as Captain America, even though Steve Rogers got a good ending to his story.
However, most fans are pretty pumped about the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Secret Wars.’ A big reason is the possibility of different versions of characters. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is already buzzing with talk of 25 cameos and variants, and ‘Secret Wars’ is expected to double that once the media blitz kicks in. Marvel’s well aware of the hype, which is why they dropped an official reference to it during CinemaCon. In one scene, Deadpool starts...

MCU has been on sort of a downward spiral recently, with several of its biggest productions failing, setting unflattering records. Most of the upcoming productions also get negative feedback on social media even before they are released.
Just take a look at ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ and a decent-sized part of the fandom that refuses to accept Sam Willson as Captain America despite Steve Rogers getting a perfect closure for his story arc.
Almost the entire fandom is however excited about the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Secret Wars,’ mostly due to hope fueled by the concept of variants. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ already has 25 rumored & confirmed cameos and variants, and ‘Secret Wars,’ when the media coverage of the movie starts to the fullest, will easily have double that. Marvel’s Fantastic Four has lived through several iterations. In 1994, the first ambitious Fantastic Four life-action was made starring Alex Hyde-White, Rebecca Staab, and Jay Underwood, with Joseph Culp playing Doctor Doom. However, the movie was never released. While the Chris Evans-starrer Fantastic Four movie series was popular among fans, there was an attempt from Fox to reboot the franchise in 2015 with a roster of a talented cast.

Netflix is pivoting to lower-budget filmmaking projects, moving away from the high-octane big-budget action flicks, the New York Times reports. That would be a piece of great news for filmmakers as it opens up more opportunities to screen your next project on the Netflix platform.
Netflix and independent filmmaker Enough with the mega-budget projects
The story begins with Mark Wahlberg. According to Bi in 2020, Netflix paid Wahlberg a whopping $30 million to star in “Spenser Confidential,” which clocks in at 24 on the highest-paid film roles of all time. Critics panned the action thriller, an adaptation of Robert P. Barker’s 2013 novel “Wonderland.” It scored a dismal 36% on Rotten Tomatoes despite the hefty investment. That caused some turbulence in the screening giant, in which Netflix’s previous film chief, Scott Stuber, left the company in January following clashes with bosses over what kinds of films to produce. Only the hardest of hearts could have failed to be moved through Avengers: Endgame, especially through Chris Evans’ performance of them all. As much of a joyride as it felt because of those witty dialogues and scenes, it was also one of the most heartbreaking films in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, surpassing even Avengers: Infinity War in its battle of being a total tear-jerker.
Avengers: Endgame (2019).
That being said, while the movie in itself was one thing in terms of a heart-wrenching storyline, even the sets of the film managed to make one Avenger’s mother burst into tears! This Avenger was none other than the beloved former Captain America portrayer Evans, and his mother actually turned into a sobbing mess after seeing him on the sets of the 2019 blockbuster for an understandable reason.

Sometimes a movie is so well cast that you honestly cannot picture someone else playing a role. However, some perfect casting decisions very nearly don’t work out.
For instance, imagine Wednesday without Jenna Ortega‘s brilliant and dry sense of humor. Pretty hard, huh? What about the Marvel Cinematic Universe without Chris Evans leading the Avengers? Did you know that he tried to turn the role down?
In fact, many actors have come very close to saying “no thanks” to what have become their most recognizable jobs in Hollywood.
Sometimes, the timing wasn’t working out. Other times certain circumstances made it difficult for an actor to imagine themselves playing the character.
As a result, many stars have ended up turning down offers that they might have come to regret. Others reconsidered, worked things out and agreed to take on what might go down in history as their most iconic roles.

Have you ever witnessed a cinematic moment so moving that it lingered long after the credits rolled? The death of Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame was just one of the moments that devastated Marvel fans, and Scarlett Johansson found it almost as hard to come to terms when she learned about her character’s fate.

In 2022, Netflix released The Grey Man, an action thriller film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush (in his Hollywood debut), Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton. With Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame being such box office successes, many fans assumed that the Russo Brothers (Anthony and Joe Russo) would return to direct Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the years that followed, a lot changed.
During that period, the Russo Brothers helmed a few flicks through their Agbo company. Among them are the crime drama Cherry, starring Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo, and the action thriller The Gray Man, featuring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

Some people conjectured that the brothers might choose to return to Marvel following The Gray Man’s failure and Cherry’s comparatively unimpressive reception. However, in a recent interview, Anthony and Joe Russo stated adamantly that they are ready to move on from playing in someone’s franchise sandbox and instead focus on developing their own original franchises.

After creating the heartbreaking yet truly magnificent exit of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Avengers: Endgame, the Russo Brothers — Joe Russo and Anthony Russo — are all set to bring new action to the screens. And this time, this peak entertainment would not be through Rdj or the MCU, but rather, ostensibly through Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.

As it turns out, the dynamic duo recently hinted at wanting to work with Evans and Gosling once again. The project they would be collaborating on is the sequel to the masterpiece from 2022, The Gray Man. But that’s not all because Evans isn’t the only Chris the mastermind filmmakers are looking forward to working with: They also want Chris Hemsworth to reprise his iconic role!

The Russo Brothers are one of Hollywood’s busiest duos in an industry that moves at the speed of light. With an alarming amount of projects heaped onto their respective plates, two stand out among the crowd for action fans: Extraction 3 and The Gray Man 2.
Speaking with GamesRadar+ at the Sands: International Film Festival in St. Andrews, Scotland, the Russos said The Gray Man 2 is actively developing. The 2022 original starred Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as a skilled CIA operative (Gosling) and a psychotic former colleague (Evans) who triggered a global manhunt led by international assassins. Despite getting the shaft from critics, casual audiences loved watching two of Hollywood’s biggest stars square off against one another while explosions light their destructive path.
“We’re developing concepts we think are the right direction to take the character in and so, we are working on that at the moment,” Joe Russo told GamesRadar+. “I mean,...
