Our planet can be absolutely terrifying. From unpredictable earthquakes to monstrous storms, there’s really no shortage of ways in which our cosmic home can kill us. And yet, our species perseveres, with humanity going so far as to entertain itself by telling stories about how we can overcome – or at the very least survive – the fury of nature. In fact, these stories have become so prevalent in popular culture that disaster movies are known to be one of the most profitable genres in all of cinema, and while some audiences remain critical so-called “disaster-porn,” I’d argue that the best of these films are really about the endurance of the human spirit.

The series, which hails from All American‘s Nkechi Okoro Carroll, follows public relations specialist Gabi Mosely and her crisis management team dedicated to finding missing persons, especially those often overlooked by the system. Gabi was once one of those forgotten ones, and is still hiding a chilling secret of her own – she has found her kidnapper, Sir, (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and uses his twisted expertise to help solve their cases. In any given year, more than 600,000 people are reported missing in the U.S. More than half that number are people of color that the country seems to forget about.

NBC's procedural show Found stars Shanola Hampton, a series producer, a kick-butt public relations specialist turned vigilantly, Gabi Mosely. Gabi and her team have made it their mission to help the missing people who don't attract the media's attention.
The team mainly focuses on people of color and others who face bias for their ethnicity, sexual orientation, and lifestyle choices, among other things that tend to lead them to slip through the cracks of the Washington, D.C., police department.
Why is Gabi so passionate about her work? Because she is a kidnapping survivor herself and her dedicated team of people who have also been impacted by missing persons' cases.
While we only get bits and pieces of everyone's stories, throughout Found Season 1, it is revealed through flashbacks why Gabi stops at nothing to bring home the kidnapping victims of the families who hire her.

After dipping into the world of H.P. Lovecraft in Re-Animator (listen) and checking out an early adaptation of The Portrait of Dorian Gray (listen), somehow we’re already on our third episode of February. And while the holiday doesn’t line up, we couldn’t pass up a chance to revisit Friday the 13th (2009) for its fifteenth anniversary.
In the Marcus Nispel remake, a group of friends travel to the palatial country house of Trent (Travis Van Winkle) near what was once Camp Crystal Lake. As Trent’s girlfriend Jenna (Danielle Panabaker) bonds with Clay (Jared Padalecki) over the disappearance of his sister Whitney (Amanda Righetti), their friends Chewie (Aaron Yoo), Bree (Julianna Guill), Lawrence (Arlen Escarpeta), Nolan (Ryan Hansen) and Chelsea (Willa Ford) are being picked off one by one by Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears).

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Found Season 1 finale “Missing While Forgotten.”] The truth comes out in the Found Season 1 finale — and the way it does makes it even more painful than we expected. The episode begins with Gabi (Shanola Hampton) discovering that Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) has escaped her basement, where she had her kidnapper chained up, and she and Dhan (Karan Oberoi) realize he must still think she’s missing. Though she wants to immediately tell the rest of Mosley & Associates — especially Lacey (Gabrielle Walsh), whom Sir had also kidnapped as a kid — a priority case requires them to keep everyone’s focus on that missing person. But once that case is over and after Gabi realizes that Sir, still out there, will never stop hunting her, she tells Lacey, Margaret (Kelli Williams), and Zeke (Arlen Escarpeta). All we see is her joining them in the conference room and their heartbreaking reactions before one by one,...

When she gets home, she realizes that the box of poison from her kitchen is missing and realizes Sir used it to poison Lacey’s dog. Lacey doesn’t answer when she calls … and has no idea that Sir is hiding in her apartment! That’s where the finale ends. “That’s her biggest fear… that ...

NBC is sticking with Found and The Irrational.
The network has renewed both first-year dramas — one of just a handful of original scripted series to air on a broadcast network this fall — for second seasons. Both shows were developed off-cycle at NBC and thus had a full complement of episodes in the can before strikes by writers and actors led to dozens of productions shutting down in the summer and early fall.
The two series have also performed solidly for NBC: The Irrational, starring Jesse L. Martin, is averaging 6.34 million viewers per episode after seven days of linear viewing, while the Shanola Hampton-led Found clocks in at 5.18 million viewers (not including streaming for either show). They are also the top two broadcast series of the season so far among Black viewers, with Found ranking first.

NBC is making some early renewals.
The network has renewed both of its first-year drama series, Found and The Irrational for second seasons.
The fact that both shows had episodes filmed prior to the start of the broadcast season was a boon for NBC, allowing it to air new scripted series as many of its rivals pivoted to reality series and licensed programming as a result of the dual strikes.
The Irrational has aired seven episodes of its first season and has four more to go starting on Monday January 29 at 10pm. It is currently back in production on those episodes.
Found has currently aired nine episodes with two more to air before the end of the year. It will return on January 9 for its final two episodes of the season and has already finished production on those.

Months before Found made good on NBC’s decision to move it from a midseason to fall premiere, its creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll and star/producer Shanola Hampton, best known for Shameless, could hardly contain their enthusiasm. “I knew I wanted to do in my next project something that had meaning or purpose,” the Shameless star revealed during a set visit in Atlanta late February.
Since its Oct. 3 premiere on the heels of The Irrational — another NBC procedural starring Jesse L. “East New York” star Ezra Knight guest stars on Tuesday night’s “Found” as a doorman who seeks out Gabi’s (Shanola Hampton) help for a missing man he thinks the police wouldn’t bother to search for.
In this exclusive clip, which you can watch above, Cliff (Knight) shares a video of his missing friend Reggie with Gabi. When she asks why he hasn’t reported the disappearance to the authorities, he says he came to her “because I know you care for everyone.”
Says Cliff, “I’m just not confident that police would care about a missing gay widower in his 70s. And it’s only been two days and my only real evidence is the absence of our morning conversations.” He adds that the residents of his building mostly don’t acknowledge him but that, “Reggie sees me. He’s a good person.”
The series, which debuted on Oct.

Last Friday, which happened to be a Friday the 13th, screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift shared some pages from the script they wrote for the unmade sequel to the 2009 version of Friday the 13th (watch it Here). In those pages, we got to read the description of a scene where a character would have been killed by iconic masked slasher Jason Voorhees while riding down a zip line. But those weren’t the only pages Shannon and Swift shared from the script last Friday. They also unveiled a couple pages that reveal what happened to Jason’s dad – and you can read them in this embed:
Ok, since it's #FridayThe13th how about one more? Our sequel script had lots of stuff for long time fans, including returning characters! Let's reveal two of them now: https://t.co/WhNTVuo2Nx pic.twitter.com/yUdnv2L6bL

(You can hear all about that Friday the 13th in our latest Wtf Happened video.) Since the reboot made over $91 million at the global box office on a budget of $19 million when it was released in February of 2009, it was no surprise when it was announced that it was going to receive a sequel, to be shot in 3-D and released on August 13, 2010. Then the studios couldn’t agree on the money split, so the sequel was shelved… but not before Shannon and Swift had already written the full script. Today, to celebrate Friday the 13th,...
