Fallout has become one of Prime Video’s biggest series ever — according to Prime Video.
The well-reviewed show, based on the video game franchise of the same name, has become the second-most-watched title ever on the Amazon streaming service over its first 16 days of release, the company says. Prime Video says 65 million viewers worldwide have watched at least some of Fallout since its April 10 premiere, putting the show behind only The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power in the streamer’s catalog.
Global audiences have powered a majority of that viewing: More than 60 percent of Fallout’s audience is outside the United States. The (limited) data from Amazon jibes with that from outside sources like Samba TV, Luminate and Reelgood, all of which have tracked a strong start for the series (Nielsen’s streaming data lags by several weeks).

“Fallout” is proving to be far from a (nuclear) bomb for Amazon’s Prime Video.
According to the streamer, the series pulled in 65 million viewers in its first 16 days of availability, with the first season dropping in its entirety on April 10. That makes it the second most-watched title ever on the platform and the most-watched title since the debut on “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” back in 2022.
Amazon also says the show is its most-watched ever among adults 18-34, with 60% of the show’s audience coming from outside the United States. In particular, the UK, France, and Brazil have all proven to be hubs for the show’s popularity. It should be noted, however, that Amazon has not released any data on how viewers are counted, especially when it comes to completion of the show. Therefore, it is unknown if a viewer is counted once they have completed a single episode,...

Fallout has been a huge success for Prime. Released on April 10th, it was viewed over 1.5 million times in 5 days. A total of 25 actors made guest appearances. Here are the top 5:
5. Michael Rapaport as Knight Titus
The Brotherhood of Steel has been a constant presence in the video game since its release. As you might expect, the Knights are expected to show bravery and valor.
Titus' face was covered upon his first introduction in Episode 2. When Michael Rapaport was revealed as the actor, viewers may have thought the character was destined for humorous involvement, but instead, Titus turned out to be a self-serving coward.
Rapaport has had cameos in:
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air The Big Bang Theory Friends
But he’s arguably best known as Agent Don Self from Prison Break.

The Season 1 finale of Prime Video’s “Fallout” left audiences with many unanswered questions around the scientist-turned-New California Republic leader Lee Moldaver, such as how she survived the nuclear apocalypse and her relationship to Lucy’s mother, Rose MacLean.
Sarita Choudhury, who portrays Moldaver, revealed that she “knows enough” about the answers to these questions, but remained tight-lipped.
“I was told enough to play each scene,” she told TheWrap in a recent interview. “When I had the first meeting, I was told a lot, and then as we were shooting… It was so coveted, this information, and the writers are so brilliant, they’re so caring. They wanted to give us everything, but at the same time, they couldn’t give everything. So I know more than you do, but I don’t know as much as them.”

This post contains spoilers for "Fallout" season 1, as well as "Justified" and "Justified: City Primeval."
If you watched "Fallout" this weekend and half-expected Deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens himself to stroll across the show's post-apocalyptic wasteland, you're not alone. Despite not actually sharing a casting director with the FX neo-Western "Justified," the first few episodes of the new Prime Video series feature not just one or two but four different actors who previously appeared on the Kentucky-set drama. That's a whole lot of Harlan for one video game adaptation.
Walton Goggins, who stars in "Fallout" as the actor-turned-undead gunslinger known primarily as the Ghoul, is the most obvious connection between the two shows. On "Justified" and its recent follow-up series "Justified: City Primeval," Goggins played smooth-talking man in black Boyd Crowder, who spent most of the original show's six seasons at odds with Timothy Olyphant's lawman. The stellar video game adaptation that is "Fallout" has finally arrived on Prime Video. The show presents an immersive alternate future that feels akin to the games while weaving a whole new wasteland-based tale. One of the "Fallout" series' great strengths is the depth of its in-game world, which lends itself to telling multiple stories from numerous characters' perspectives. Each game in the series, which kicked off with 1997's top-down RPG "Fallout," tells a different story set in a retrofuturist alternate reality where the world was decimated by nuclear war in 2077. The games have been set across this post-apocalyptic U.S., from Appalachia to Vegas, and feature a different protagonist each time.
The streaming series is canon with the "Fallout" games, and takes a similar approach, debuting characters and a narrative that are completely original creations while depicting the unique wasteland of the games in vivid detail. Jonathan Nolan, who...

This article contains casting spoilers for all eight episodes of Fallout.
The Fallout gaming franchise presents a big storytelling universe to play in. And that’s exactly what drew showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner to the Prime Video TV adaptation in the first place.
“It’s more creatively interesting to be able to build our own story in the world that they’ve carved out for us,” Wagner told Den of Geek. “That’s historically been the trajectory of Fallout. It’s traded hands many times, with different creative teams taking it over. It’s kept it fresh, kept it relevant. We chose to just vainly look at this as our Fallout.”
Of course, a big storytelling universe also requires a big cast to fill it up. Prime Video’s Fallout isn’t wanting for compelling lead characters thanks to Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul...

Video game adaptations come in two flavors: crap and brilliance. For a long time, games were considered cash grabs that did not take advantage of the brilliant concepts and stories they told in a different medium. In recent years, that perspective has changed as producers have found creative homes for properties to tell everything from big-screen epics to animated fare and long-form series storytelling. The latest addition to the growing genre is Fallout. Adapted from the three-decade-old franchise, Fallout exists within the world of video games but expands into a fully original story with all new characters. With the full season streaming on Prime Video, audiences are finding this new series is the real deal.
Fallout tells the story of Lucy Mclean (Ella Purnell), a Vaultie living in the post-apocalyptic wasteland that was the United States. When her father is abducted, Lucy ventures into the world where she must rescue...

The much anticipated Prime Video series adaptation of the popular RPG video game series Fallout is finally here and I am so happy to bring you the good news that it’s great. While I am not familiar with the video game, I can say this about the series it’s unique, visually satisfying, and has a good enough story to keep you interested.
Fallout is a dystopian post-apocalyptic series created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. The Prime Video series shows us the aftermath of a nuclear war that decimated the Earth. 219 years later, we follow the story of a young woman Lucy who ventures out of her ideal life as a vault dweller to save her kidnapped father and comes face to face with a dangerous world outside of the vaults.

This post contains spoilers for Prime Video's "Fallout."
The ingenuity of the "Fallout" video games extends beyond their post-apocalyptic worldbuilding and snazzy combat mechanics — they are role-playing experiences that feel intuitive, bizarre, and challenging all at once. To capture these medium-specific idiosyncrasies in a television adaptation of a beloved franchise is a tall order, and Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan's "Fallout" understands what it means to inhabit such a broken, retrofuturist society. The end of the first season of "Fallout" is also the beginning, as it promises a new world and sets the stage for chaos and order, with the sway of the pendulum suspended until darker truths emerge. For franchise enthusiasts, it is a familiar story reinvented in meaningful, riveting ways. For newcomers, it is an intriguing post-apocalyptic setting that oscillates between gleeful sarcasm and heartbreaking pathos.

Plot: Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.
Review: Back in 1997, I was a high school kid playing video games on my Nintendo 64 and my PC. I loved games like Command & Conquer: Red Alert, the original Diablo, and Fallout. After a particularly harrowing setback to his mission in The Fallout, the new series from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy (Westworld), a bounty hunter known as The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) makes the executive decision to change course entirely. Although his less experienced traveling companion/prisoner protests, The Ghoul knows better. “The wasteland’s got its own golden rule,” he snarls. “Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullshit every time.”
That most of Prime Video’s Fallout consists of getting sidetracked by bullshit is simultaneously one of its main charms and one of its most frustrating flaws. At its liveliest, the sci-fi adventure captures the fun of simply getting to explore a strange new world, meeting colorful characters and going down mysterious rabbit holes. But the lack of urgency also means its eight hours take an awfully long time to get where it’s going.

A stark wooden cross stands in a moonlit cemetery in the opening episode of Fallout, Amazon’s eccentric and capacious adaptation of the video game series. From each arm hangs an IV bag that feeds a yellow liquid into a grave. There lies the body of Cooper Howard (Walton Goggins), an erstwhile cowboy who struck gold as a western film star before being blacklisted for alleged communist affiliations. Cooper lived in a distinctively retro-futurist United States. In this alternate universe, the 2070s were marked by escalating war between America and China and seemingly stuck in the 1950s, with black-and-white TVs and classic cars—plus robots that helped apron-clad homemakers around the house. Then the bombs fell, in a bout of mutually assured destruction that eradicated almost all life on Earth.
More than 200 years after the nuclear calamity, a trio of wary mercenaries dig up Cooper’s tomb and find a coffin chained shut.

Since 1997, the Fallout franchise of video games has captivated hordes of RPG fans with its original setting, political edginess, and that gloriously nostalgic yet contextually bleak soundtrack. The Prime Video TV series adaptation of the popular Fallout video game franchise won’t begin streaming until April 12th, but season 2 of the show is already moving forward. While the first season was primarily filmed in New York (with some filming also taking place in Utah), Variety reports that the production will be moving to California for the next sequel. That’s not to take advantage of filming locations there, but rather to get a tax break. The California Film Commission just awarded $152 million in tax incentives to a dozen different TV shows, and Fallout is on the list. For filming the next season in California, the show will receive $25 million in California tax credits.
The budget for the show is quite large, as Variety notes that it has $153 million in qualified expenditures for the season.

Actor Walton Goggins, who essays the dual roles of Cooper Howard, a B-movie western star, and The Ghoul, his 200-hundred-year-old mutant killer version in the streaming series ‘Fallout’, shared that his nose was digitally removed for his part of The Ghoul in the show.
The actor revealed that it was quite challenging for him to find the two characters as they’re vastly different from each other.
Shedding light on his character of The Ghoul, the actor said, “The Ghoul is a rascal, really. He’s got a great sense of humour, but underneath that is a lot of pain. He’s seen a lot and felt a lot and all the rest of it. And Cooper’s a kind, patient, caring product of the Greatest Generation. He’s about the best this country has to offer.”
Goggins’ transformation into The Ghoul goes beyond acting. The character’s signature look involved extensive makeup and prosthetics.
