Paramount+ is making way for more tossed salads and scrambled eggs, as Frasier is renewed for a second season.
Frasier is undoubtably one of the most beloved American sitcoms of all time. Spun-off from Cheers, itself an 11 season American institution, Frasier had some of the wittiest writing on television, elevated by the magnificent casting of David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s equally fastidious brother Niles.
Along with the much missed John Mahoney as their Dad Martin, Jane Leeves as housekeeper Daphne Moon and Peri Gilpin as acerbic producer Roz Doyle, over eleven seasons the show became embedded in American culture.
Talks of a reboot had been going on for years before it finally went into production for Paramount+ in 2022 under the creative team of writers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli.
It saw Frasier move back to Boston in order to spend more time with his son Freddy, played by Jack Cutmore-Scott.

David Hyde Pierce does not regret his decision to sit out of Frasier’s recent Paramount+ revival series, but the call was more about wanting to pursue other projects than avoiding the reprisal of Frasier’s younger brother, Niles Crane.

Sometimes, you just need a warm hug from an old friend during the holidays, and Frasier Season 1 Episode 10, delivers that and more.
The installment was the perfect combination of sentimental, sweet, and funny. It showcases why this series absolutely deserves to get renewed for a second season.
And Roz's arrival was the big hug that Frasier and the audience needed.
Because if anyone can tell Frasier what he needs to hear, especially if it's that he shouldn't be the lone man at his pity party, it's Roz.
But Frasier had every right to feel melancholy. This was his first Christmas since Martin passed away.
Heck, it made my heart hurt a bit to see the silver tinsel Rudolph wreath and the singing and dancing Santa that, thank goodness, refuses to die.
Frasier: I used to hate Dad’s Christmas decorations, and now even this old Rudolph wreath is making me sentimental.

I'll admit, I had mixed feelings going into this Frasier reboot on Paramount+.
I was never the biggest fan of Cheers, but I loved the original Frasier and have watched it from pilot to series finale numerous times. The cast of that series possessed the unique mix of talent and chemistry that resulted in TV magic.
The odds were long that a reboot could recapture our love for Frasier and his family over those eleven seasons. Longer still, with most of the original cast missing. I was heartbroken to hear that David Hyde Pierce would not be returning as Niles.
So, upon viewing the new Frasier Season 1 Episode 1, I wasn't surprised that the show had its flaws, but it also has a lot of potential.
Frasier is starting over yet again, this time back in Boston, but expect only a scant aside to his days at that famous bar.

In Paramount+’s “Frasier” reboot, Kelsey Grammer’s iconic character has returned to Boston for his next chapter, as he looks to reconnect with his son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).
The move finds the psychiatrist and former radio show host leave behind many beloved characters from the original NBC sitcom, including his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce). Earlier this year, Pierce revealed that he would not be reprising the role, which showrunners Chris Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”) admitted was “a tough setback in the moment, but ultimately very freeing.”
“It let us build the show more organically from the ground up, focusing more on Frasier and Freddie’s relationship,” Harris told TheWrap. “The flip side of that is we don’t have several of the beloved characters that the original series had.”

When the "Frasier" revival series was announced, one of the biggest concerns for fans of the original sitcom was which cast members from the original iteration of the show would be returning. Part of what was so great about "Frasier," which ran for 11 seasons from 1993 to 2004, was the incredible supporting cast surrounding Kelsey Grammer's titular shrink. John Mahoney, who played Frasier's retired cop father, Martin, was the perfect foil for his sons' hifalutin hijinks, while Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), Frasier's producer at his radio station, also provided a more down-to-earth energy to help ground the show. The same was true of Jane Leeves, who played Martin's live-in carer, Daphne Moon.
But it was arguably David Hyde Pierce as Frasier's equally pompous-yet-lovable brother, Niles, who was the most memorable supporting character. The chemistry between Grammer and Hyde Pierce was so effective it was as if you were watching two actual brothers banter back and forth.

Frasier is back.
Actually, Dr. Frasier Crane is so unobtrusively back in the Paramount+ revival debuting on October 12 that it’s truly as if Kelsey Grammer’s pompous and often hilarious psychiatrist character never left — truly.
In an industry awash with alternative timelines as plot points almost as much as it is with creatively barren reboots and reunions, perhaps it would be better to peg the Frasier revival not as something new at all, but neither something old. Perhaps a more crystalline perspective would be to view this Frasier as simply the charmingly chugging along 30th season of the beloved and acclaimed Cheers spinoff.
While clearly a subscriber lunge for Paramount+ in this age of streamer contractions, this 10-episode revival is indeed so blatantly a throwback to a very different era of television that to try to taint it as mere nostalgia is to miss the point. A little thinner on top,...

The king of the call-in, the prince of pop psychology, Dr. Frasier Crane, will officially return on Oct. 12 when the Frasier sequel series arrives on Paramount+.

Who knew that when Dr. Frasier Crane first appeared on the iconic 1980s sitcom Cheers, the character would have the staying power to last decades?
Perhaps Kelsey Grammar, who portrays the fastidious psychiatrist, did. Grammar took Frasier from pining over Shelly Long's, Diane, and drinking beers in Boston to telling radio fans, "I'm listening" in Seattle.
Where is Dr. Frasier Crane headed next? We'll take a look at everything you need to know about the new Frasier!
How Did the Original Frasier End?
When Cheers ended in 1993, Dr. Frasier Crane moved back to his hometown of Seattle, Washington. Frasier began a new phase of his career, hosting his own radio show and giving listeners advice.
He also reconnected with his family, which included his father, Martin, a retired police officer, and brother, Niles, who, to viewer's shock, was even more quirky and fastidious than Frasier!

Marc Gilpin, best known for portraying the son of Chief Martin Brody in the sequel to “Jaws,” has died at the age of 56.
Peri Gilpin, known for her role as Roz Doyle in “Frasier,” announced that her older brother had passed on Saturday following a long battle with glioblastoma.
Gilpin played Sean Brody in 1978’s “Jaws 2.” He starred alongside Roy Scheider as Brody, Lorraine Gary as Brody’s wife Ellen and his sister, April Gilpin.
Unlike the original seaside horror movie, “Jaws 2” heavily featured the chief’s two kids, Sean and Mike (Mark Gruner). While another great white shark is loose around Amity Island, Mike takes his little brother on an ill-fated boating trip. Brody is once again forced to face off against a dangerous killer, this time to save his sons.

Marc Gilpin, who played the younger son of Roy Scheider’s Police Chief Martin Brody in Jaws 2, has died. He was 56.
Gilpin died Saturday in Dallas after a long battle with glioblastoma, his older sister, Frasier actress Peri Gilpin, announced.
After answering a casting call, Gilpin beat out hundreds of other boys to get hired as Sean Brody in the 1978 sequel to the blockbuster Jaws (1975), directed by Steven Spielberg. He was 11 when the movie reached theaters.
Jaws 2 was directed by Jeannot Szwarc. Lorraine Gary returned as Chief Brody’s wife, but their sons, Michael and Sean, portrayed by Chris Rebello and Jay Mello in the original, were replaced by Mark Gruner and Gilpin in the second film.
A year later, Gilpin guest-starred on NBC’s CHiPs and appeared with his younger sister, April, on ABC’s Fantasy Island. In 1981, he was in the films The Legend of the Long Ranger and Earthbound.

Kelsey Grammer will be returning to the role of Frasier Crane once again for a new spinoff series expected to premiere on Paramount+ by the end of the year. While a few familiar faces will be returning for the Frasier sequel series, there will be some major absences, including Frasier’s brother Niles.
David Hyde Pierce played Niles Crane throughout all eleven seasons of Frasier, but “wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles” for a new series. While this was initially a setback, Kelsey Grammer told The Independent that Niles’ absence enabled them to explore Frasier having a true friendship that wasn’t a family member.
“Frasier’s going to explore a true friendship, which we never had him do before,” Kelsey Grammer said. “David Hyde Pierce as Niles was his go-to – that is not available now. So the idea of a great friend became really appealing and new to Frasier.

Another familiar face will be joining Dr. Frasier Crane in Boston. It’s been reported that Peri Gilpin will reprise her role of Roz Doyle for the upcoming Frasier sequel series on Paramount+.
Roz Doyle was Frasier’s producer at Kacl in the previous series, and when we last saw her, she had been promoted to station manager. It’s not known where life has taken Roz in the last two decades, but she will only appear in one episode of the Frasier sequel series. Peri Gilpin isn’t the only member of the Frasier family returning for the sequel, as Bebe Neuwirth will also guest-star as Lilith, Frasier’s ex-wife and and mother of Freddy.

What would “Frasier” be without Roz?
Sure, the satirically snobby Seattle-based “Cheers” spin-off was centered on radio psychologist Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) and his fraught relationships with his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and father Martin (John Mahoney) while self-sabotaging his hopeless romantic pursuits. Yet the crux of the series, its most necessary foil, came from Frasier’s radio producer Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin) who did not hesitate to mock Frasier’s out-of-touch privilege and many misfires.
The announcement that Peri Gilpin is reprising her role as Roz for one episode in the “Frasier” Paramount+ revival ignites a surge of hope for a spinoff that’s otherwise without most of the original core cast.
The best parts of “Frasier” are its women, and that needs to be recognized in the present day, especially since it actually was at the time of its first airing. While current shows like “The Idol...

“For a while we were going to try to bring back the whole cast, the whole legacy cast,” star Kelsey Grammer told People. However, the actor told the outlet that the creative team behind the revival decided to change course after learning Hyde Pierce wouldn’t be taking part.

Spinoffs have long been a staple of the broadcast network landscape, but precious few have successfully captured an audience to such a degree that they lasted as long as the series that spawned them in the first place. “Frasier,” however, managed to defy the odds: it made its debut on NBC 25 years ago and ran for 11 seasons, which is the same length of time that its predecessor “Cheers” maintained its slot on the prime-time schedule.
“A lot of times shows really evolve a lot over the course of the first season, when you kind of discover what you have, but ‘Frasier’ was pretty solid going in,” Ken Levine tells Variety.
Levine wrote, directed and served as a creative consultant on the series at various points during its run. Some things, he admits, were discovered along the way, but he says there was never the need for “a real sea change.

Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin) helped bring high-brow Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) back to Earth, and Blossom Russo’s bestie Six LeMeure (Jenna von Oy) knew how to talk herself out of a jam.

Full House may be over and done with, but that doesn’t mean its cast has lost touch.

In last night’s episode of Modern Family, Gloria hires a manny, and Cam and Mitch hire Pepper. Tears ensue.
Favorite Moments:
“Every wedding is unique, like a snowflake. My job is to give you the snowflake that makes everyone die from jealousy.” “That’s all we’ve ever wanted.”
Ronaldo
“Sorry, I thought I was wearing a cape today.”
This.
“Since the Proposition Ocho was overturned, he’s done 50 gay weddings. The man is exhausted searching for new ideas.” “You said Ocho and then you said Fifty.” “You see, gays are so nit-picky.”
“We’re in my kitchen, we have to stop saying hooker!”
Roz Doyle is the hooker.
Once again, Lily steals the show in the closing seconds.
I want a cute manny, dammit!
I thought this was one of the better shows of the season so far. Cam and Mitch are at their best when they’re a team,...

My Big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos and Frasier's Peri Gilpin will guest star on an episode of Grey's Anatomy, and portray sisters on the medical drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Vardalos, whose TV work includes stints on Cougar Town, Drop Dead Diva and My Boys, will play Karen Winterbottom, while Make It or Break It's Gilpin will play her sibling, Marcy Winterbottom.
The bickering sisters will come to Seattle Grace in a mid-January episode.
Vardalos' casting comes nearly two weeks after Grey's and Cougar Town producer ABC Studios announced that it was developing a comedy for the actress, who is married to Cougar Town's Ian Gomez.
Gilpin, meanwhile, stars on ABC Family's Make It or Break It, but is probably best known as radio producer Roz Doyle, who kept Kelsey Grammer in line for 11 seasons on NBC's Frasier.
