She is an avid motorcycle rider and enjoys flying.

She mentored children in Vancouver for over 8 years and is an Ambassador for WSPA Canada.
She studied music (classical flute) and was going to pursue a career in
that field before switching to acting. She studied theatre at Dalhousie
University and graduated from the acting program at Vancouver Film
School in 1999.
She is founder and director of Canadian charity Caleb's Hope.

The name 'Lamaro' was given to her by the Acholi people she works with in Northern Uganda. The name 'Lamaro' which means loved by humanity and to love humanity, was appointed on March 14th, 2011.
