The 2000 film Ginger Snaps (watch it Here) is my all-time favorite werewolf movie. That was followed by a sequel – Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed – and a very unexpected prequel – Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning – and while I’m not as enamored with them as I am with the original movie, I do get some enjoyment out of watching them. The oddball prequel especially. If you’re a fan of Ginger Snaps trilogy as well and happen to have a Region B (or region free) Blu-ray player, you’ll be glad to hear that Second Sight Films is packaging all three movies together in a limited edition UK box set that’s going to be released on October 30th. Just in time for Halloween, which happens to be the setting of the first movie.
Copies of the Ginger Snaps trilogy Blu-ray box set can be pre-ordered directly from Second Sight Films.

Korean director Hong Eui-jeong’s debut feature “Voice of Silence” stood out at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival as the year’s best film from its Cheval Noir main competition section. The film, about two men who clean up after an organized crime organization, has enjoyed an impressive international festival run, having built up strong buzz as a project when it was selected to Venice’s Biennale College Cinema program in 2016.
“In a film festival that’s known as a melting pot of genres, ‘Voice of Silence’ feels like an excellent representative for the top prize in the Cheval Noir section. It’s earnest and sincere in tone but also unpredictable and experimental, impossible to pin down, and truly idiosyncratic,” said the jury in a statement accompanying the announcement.

- Lots of glossy business cards will be exchanged during the 4th edition of International Financing Forum (Iff) (which takes place during Tiff). In what I imagine is like a speed dating between producers looking for coin and those looking to finance the next hot film project. There are a slew of names/projects from established filmmakers (Hany Abu-Assad, Terrence Davies and Kevin Macdonald) and some first-time directors among the 43 listed below that have caught over attention. Hany Abu-Assad is taking on what I imagine would be a controversial biopic - attaching himself to Arafat with his Paradise Now producer, Roman Paul. Paul produced Waltz with Bashir, and the upcoming (we'll be talking about this one in 2010), Womb. I'd be surprised if Tony Grisoni took a day off in the past 24 months, he has penned a truck load of projects and would embark on his feature filmmaking debut with Kingsland.

George A. Romero is hard at work on a new untitled zombie picture, according to Variety. Though long speculated to be working on a sequel to his recent Diary of the Dead, all signs indicate that this upcoming feature is more in line with his previous Dead efforts.
The film "involves inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure."
Just like a zombie invasion that you don't see coming until it's too late, Romero's actually already deep into filming this new project. The film is fully cast, including Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe and others. Paula Devonshire is producing, while Peter Grunwald, D.J. Carson, Ara Katz and Art Spigel are executive producing alongside Romero.
