Bryan Cranston has changed his mind from recent remarks he made in an interview with British GQ that he would retire in 2026.
Cranston initially told the men’s magazine that he intended to close his television production company, Moonshot Entertainment, and move to France with his wife, Robin Dearden. He also planned to sell his portion of his mezcal company, Dos Hombres, which he co-founded with his Breaking Bad costar, Aaron Paul. Many interpreted these comments to mean that the actor was retiring.
After numerous articles announced Cranston’s plan for retirement, the actor shared a lengthy post on Instagram on June 10 to clarify his thoughts.
“I am not retiring,” Cranston wrote. “What I am going to do is hit the pause button for a year after I reach my 70th birthday in 2026.”
The “year off” still includes a trip to France with Dearden as a married couple in their “latter years.

Bryan Cranston is clarifying his recent comments about his retirement plans. In a June 8 interview with British GQ, Cranston, 67, explained that he intends to retire in 2026 when he'll be 70. And his retirement won't just be from acting: he also wants to shut down his production company and sell his half of the mezcal tequila company he runs with "Breaking Bad" costar Aaron Paul.
"I want to change the paradigm once again," Cranston told the outlet about his decision, adding his wife, Robin Dearden, is at the center of his choice. "For the last 24 years, Robin has led her life holding onto my tail. She's been the plus one, she's been the wife of a celebrity. She's had to pivot and adjust her life based on mine. She has tremendous benefit from it, but we're uneven. I want to level that out. She deserves it."

Bryan Cranston is setting the record straight about his future plans. The Breaking Bad star took to his Instagram account on Friday and posted a lengthy statement explaining that he’s “not retiring” and, really, just hitting “the pause button for a year” after he turns 70 in 2026.
The clarification comes one day after an interview with British GQ, in which the actor said he would sell his half of his and former co-star Aaron Paul’s Dos Hombres Mezcal Tequila brand, shut down his production company, Moonshot Entertainment, and live the leisure life with his wife of 34 years, Robin Dearden, somewhere across the pond.
Perhaps France.
“Hey everyone, I hope this little message finds you well. Some news came out that wasn’t entirely clear…even to me. So I wanted to set the record straight,” Cranston opened in his caption to a carousel of photos of him and Robin.

Bryan Cranston has a plan for his Hollywood career to come to a brief end in 2026 so that he can spend more time with his wife, Robin Dearden. The Emmy winner announced the plan in a new GQ UK interview, saying he will take at least six months off from Hollywood and move to France in 2026.
As reported by GQ: “In 2026, one of the greatest actors of this era will retire – at least temporarily. Cranston is planning to shut down his production company, sell his half of Dos Hombres, and abscond with Dearden to a foreign country, probably France, for a minimum of six months.”
On Friday, he posted an Instagram clarifying that although some publications had characterized his break as retiring from acting, he did not mean permanently.

Knowing how fortunate they were to be in each other’s company again, the two actors swapped stories and compared notes, as Hanks even advised Cranston on where to donate his plasma, an effort that might help others fight off the disease. Bryan Cranston will always be best-known for his show-stopping role as Walter White on Breaking Bad. Bryan, who is dad to 23-year-old daughter Taylor with wife Robin Dearden, joked to Willie that he will definitely use some of Walter White's tactics when it comes to intimidating Taylor's boyfriends. Which actors will take home the gold at this year's Oscars? While it's a nice thought that the winners in each category will ascend the steps of the Dolby Theatre based on merit alone, we all know that's not how it works in this silly town. Judging the quality of a specific performance relative to other performances is a highly subjective thing, and certainly subject to pre-existing biases. With that in mind, is it any less ridiculous to predict the winners in each category based on age, height, net worth and relationship status? I say it's not! Let's have some fun. Below, my rankings and predicted winners in each category based on totally irrelevant personal stats. (Note: All "net worth" numbers are based on 100% accurate Google search results.) Best Actress 5. Bryan Cranston will never forget "Breaking Bad." Sure, it's the show that truly catapulted him to a new level of fame, but he's also gone ahead and had it permanently marked marked on his body just to make sure he remembers. It was revealed previously that Bryan got the signature "Br Ba" chemical logo from the show tattooed onto his right ring finger. He says the act surprised his wife.
The actor remembers breaking the news to his spouse, Robin Dearden, "'I got a tattoo', and she said, 'No, you didn't'," he tells Us Weekly. While Robin was shocked that Cranton got the ink, that doesn't mean she thought it was a bad idea. "She loved it because it's discreet," he says of the tiny tattoo. It also has special meaning for Cranton, who says, "When I catch a glimpse, it reminds me of this experience and I smile."

Everyone assumed Damien Lewis would take home the Best Actor in a Drama award at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Award -- even his rival nominee, Steve Buscemi. But the SAG committee decided to give the award to someone who has been shamefully under-appreciated for the past four years: Bryan Cranston.
This was Cranston's fourth nomination for his role of Walter White in "Breaking Bad," but his first win. Overlooking his chilling turn as White in 2012 would have been criminal, despite wonderful performances over the past year from Lewis in "Homeland," Buscemi in "Boardwalk Empire," Jon Hamm in "Mad Men" and Jeff Daniels in "The Newsroom." Cranston accepted the win with the humble sense of humor we've come to love from him.
"It is so good to be bad," he quipped in his acceptance speech. "I am so pleased and so honored to receive this award."

Bryan Cranston was a jobbing actor for years… then came the role of a lifetime in Breaking Bad and three successive Emmy wins. Here he tells us how being TV's chemistry teacher/drug baron Walter White changed his life
There are some actors' names – Errol Flynn, Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp – which, even if they were not famous, would still evoke images of romance, danger, drama. Then there is Bryan Cranston. It's hard to conceive of a more prosaic appellation. It's almost perfectly anonymous. Authentic but dully inconspicuous, it's a background kind of name. A solid name for a solid character actor.
Which is what Cranston was for almost three decades. On film and on television, he was repeatedly to be found in supporting roles, slowly building a reputation as a reliable and flexible performer who was equally adept in comedy and drama. Always in employment, he would crop up in shows such as Baywatch,...

Actor Bryan Cranston and his wife took marriage counselling sessions before they wed.
The former Malcolm in the Middle star is currently celebrating his 22nd wedding anniversary with actress Robin Dearden, and Cranston insists their pre-marriage chats with a therapist have been the secret to their successful partnership.
He explains, "I do believe in marriage counselling. In fact, my wife and I started going to a marriage counsellor when we were still dating.
"Men and women think so differently, and, instead of assuming what you're partner is saying, or letting it fester or something, you just let it out. I think, in all the times we've gone, we've become closer right after... We've had a great experience."...
