As was revealed during the summer, the Netflix Gods have not been kind to Hemlock Grove, with chief content officer Ted Sarandos confirming that Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman’s jet-black series would come to an end after its third and final season later this year.
Truth be told, the network’s decision to renew the show for a sophomore outing was surprising enough, but the Eli Roth-produced drama began to find its feet throughout the course of season 2, and now, with a finish line in sight, Hemlock Grove is ready to take fans toward “some dark and unexpected places” with a relentlessness that has become something of a signature for the supernatural series.
Lifted once again from Brian McGreevy’s novel of the same name, today’s trailer ramps up the shlock horror to 11, all the while teasing a sense of closure for the denizens of the titular,...

ABC is replacing David Schwimmer with Justin Long.
The New Girl and Mom actor will star in the network’s comedy pilot Irreversible, which previously featured the Friends alum in the lead role, our sister site Deadline reports.
The single-cam project — which didn’t get a series pickup for the 2014-2015 season — centers around Andy (played by Long) and Sarah, a somewhat eccentric, self-absorbed couple, and their trials and tribulations — most of which they bring upon themselves.

The Following, Season 2, Episode 5, “Fly Away”
Written by Dewayne Jones
Directed by Rob Seidenglanz
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
For the most part, the second season of The Following has been miles ahead of its first. Between Lily Grey’s (Connie Nielsen) psychotic family, Ryan’s (Kevin Bacon) dark but understandable obsession with killing Joe (James Purefoy), and Purefoy’s continuously enjoyable performance, The Following has been a lot of fun. However, “Fly Away”, the season’s sixth episode, is uneven.
What’s become obvious in these last six episodes is that Mark and Luke (Sam Underwood) have turned into The Following’s most compelling characters, outside of Joe. There are some great scenes in “Fly Away” and the majority of them belong to Luke and Mark. Luke’s disbelief that Gisele (Camille De Pazzis) is gone, his taunting of Ryan, Mike (Shaun Ashmore), and Max (Jessica Stoup...

The moral of Monday (Feb. 17) night's "The Following:" Never lie to Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). Giselle (Camille De Pazzis) learned that lesson the hard way.
After Ryan met back up with Max (Jessica Stroup), they cornered Giselle while she was on her way to Lily's (Connie Nielsen) house -- where Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) now is -- and she gave up the location of a warehouse where she was going to get picked up by Luke. Ryan told Max to stay with Giselle while he went off to see what was at the warehouse. Unfortunately, Max underestimated Giselle, and the french woman broke her own thumb to escape her handcuffs, knocked out Max and went after Ryan.
At the warehouse, Luke arrived with another one of Lily's "children," and Ryan shot and killed him. Luke (Sam Underwood) injured Ryan, though, and he ran off and broke into a house to patch up his bleeding torso.

Up until now, "The Following's" Max Hardy (Jessica Stroup) has been been her uncle Ryan's (Kevin Bacon) go-to girl for info surrounding Joe Carroll's (James Purefoy) followers, but strictly on an information-only basis. Ryan's been careful to keep one of his only remaining loved ones safe from the action ... until he lost Giselle (Camille De Pazzis) on a train, and Max followed her on it.
With a cliffhanger that intense, Zap2it went straight to Stroup for all the scoop she could reveal on what's coming next for Max now that she's smack dab in the middle of the action.

Review Ron Hogan 12 Feb 2014 - 07:31
The Following messes with TV convention, asks its audience to identify with terrible people, and is all the more fun for it...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 Family Affair
I wish I could figure out who does the sound design for The Following, because they deserve some special recognition. One of the keys to making any show work is how well it sounds. If you can't hear the dialogue that's one thing. In The Following, the dialogue isn't as important as the violence, and this is a show that knows how to get the most out of the sounds of violence on screen. You can have all the bright red blood and collapsible knives you can find in the props department, and if the sound doesn't work, then there's something missing.
More than any other show on network television, The Following knows how to make violence sound horrible.

The Following, Season 2, Episode 4
Written by Brett Mahoney
Directed by Marcos Siega
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Et) on Fox
“Scars make people more interesting”
Family seems to be the driving force of The Following this season. There’s Mark and Luke’s (Sam Underwood) unhealthy obsession with a proper family, Emma (Valorie Curry) has always desired a place where she belonged, and Lily (Connie Nielsen) has created a family for herself, all of whom seem as transfixed with Joe (James Purefoy) as she is.
The Following has been on a roll this season. It’s been quick, smart, dark, and witty. In a lot of ways (with all the followers split up, Ryan struggling with the loss of Claire, and Joe slowly coming out of hiding), this is a rewrite for the show. So far it’s been working exceptionally well. “Family Affair”, though, is a misstep. It seems like filler,...

Last Resort has been sunk. ABC has cancelled the newbie drama. The network plans to air all 13 episodes but won't order a back nine or a second season. ABC also cancelled 666 Park Avenue today and CBS dropped Partners as well.
The TV series takes place in the submarine Colorado when its officers are mysteriously ordered to destroy Pakistan. Sensing that something isn't right, they require confirmation and are subsequently fired upon and hunted.
The cast of Last Resort includes Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Daisy Betts, Robert Patrick, Daniel Lissing, Dichen Lachman, Camille de Pazzis, Sahr Ngaujah, Jessy Schrams, and Autumn Reeser.
Though it received a lot of promotion, Last Resort debuted to mediocre ratings; a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.31 million viewers.

[Warning: Major spoilers from Thursday's episode.] As it turns out, it wasn't another fine navy day. Captain Marcus Chaplin's No. 2, Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman), often sides with his superior, but as the latest Last Resort showed, Sam is very much able to act for himself. Against the backdrop of a chemical attack on Sainte Marina, Sam's subconscious took over and produced the episode's biggest moment: a passionate kiss with islander Sophie (Camille de Pazzis). Though his actions are much more complicated than that, their shared moment brings up possible repercussions for Marcus' (Andre Braugher) right-hand man. And

"Last Resort's" Xo Sam Kendal -- played by the not-bad-looking-at-all Scott Speedman -- has two important women in his life: his wife Christine (Jessy Schram) and his work-wife, Lt. Grace Shepard (Daisy Betts).
Hold up: "It's really a mentorship relationship between those two," Betts tells us about Grace and Sam. "He respects her and she respects him and she's learned a lot from him."
So no sparks between the two renegade Navy officers?
"He's got sparks flying everywhere, he's Scott Speedman!" laughs Betts. "But nothing yet with Grace," she adds ruefully.
She's in a better position, Speedman-wise, than Schram though. "Unfortunately I don't have too much contact with Scott," says the actress, whose character is separated from her devoted (for now) husband by an ocean and a government conspiracy.
When we commiserated, she laughed: "That's why I say unfortunately."
"Seeing as how I only have phone calls and flashbacks,...

In an attempt to convince you to carve out a little time for Last Resort — ABC’s ambitious new action adventure that is unlike anything else on television right now — theTVaddict.com caught up with series star Daisy Betts. Betts, an Australian native, plays Lt. Grace Shepard, one of the first wave of female officers to serve on a Us submarine and was only too happy to take some time out of her busy shooting schedule to fill fans in on what life is like as one of the Us Colorado’s few female officers, shooting those adrenaline-fuelled action sequences and what challenges are in store for her character moving forward.
Your character took quite a literal beating two episodes ago during a standoff with some Russian insurgents. What was it like shooting such an action intensive scene?
Daisy Betts: It was hard work! But I try and kind...

Scott Speedman is a speedy dater. The 37-year-old actor reportedly split from girlfriend Teresa Palmer just a few weeks ago. He pretty much confirmed the rumors Sunday in Hawaii when he was spotted making out with Last Resort costar (and rumored new romance) Camille De Pazzis. Waist-deep in the Pacific Ocean, Scott and a bikini-clad Camille shared a sweet smooch in the water. On ABC's Last Resort, Scott plays an officer whose crew takes over a small island where Camille's character, a Nato researcher, works. New roles and new ladies aside, he'll always hold a special place in our hearts as Felicity's Ben Covington.

Last Resort, Season 1, Episode 2: “Blue on Blue”
Written by Karl Gajdusek
Directed by Kevin Hooks
Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on ABC
Sophomore episodes can often be a better barometer of a show’s quality than series premieres. It is often understood that premieres are what really draw viewers in, leading to increased marketing and the presence of big name directors and cast, as well as large ideas, storylines, and themes. Second episodes, however, give audience members a real look at the caliber of the show, as the prevailing ideas take center stage. Unfortunately, many shows stumble at this point, often never recovering, a concern that, given the scope of what Last Resort looked to tackle in it series premiere last week, was a legitimate concern for this show. Thankfully, it manages to craft a second episode full of suspense and interesting character moments, fleshing out the emotional stakes of the events and,...
