Johan Daisne was born on September 2, 1912 in Gent, Flanders, Belgium. She was a writer, known for One Night... a Train (1968) and The Man Who Had His Hair Cut Short (1965). She was married to Marthe Kinaupenne and Polly van Dyck. She died on August 9, 1978 in Gent, Flanders, Belgium.

Herman Thiery began writing under the pen-name Johan Daisne in 1935, with the publication of a collection of poetry entitled 'Verzen'.
Together with Hubert Lampo, he was one of the pioneers of magic realism in the Dutch language.
