Renowned alumni of the Jeffersonian Institute pulled out their security badges and patches to assemble Friday morning for a lively “Bones” writers strike reunion picket outside Fox Studios.
The gathering of writers, actors, directors and crew members from the Fox drama series proved once again that “Bones” was one of TV’s happiest sets during its 12-season run from 2005-2017. Star Emily Deschanel, who played forensic anthropologist Temperance “Bones” Brennan on the procedural, was in attendance at the picket held on Day 67 of Writers Guild of America strike. So were series showrunners Hart Hanson, Stephen Nathan, Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson and writer-producers including Liz Benjamin, Dean Lopata, Janet Lin and Karine Rosenthal.
“All the truisms of why a show is a happy, non-toxic place is why ‘Bones’ was such a happy place,” Hanson told Variety. “Who is No. 1 on the call sheet? What is that person like? What is No.

Elissa Karasik’s Snapchat drama “Frat Boy Genius,” and scripts about Matt Drudge and the father of the Williams sisters are at the top of the 2018 version of the Black List.
“Frat Boy Genius” is a fictional story centering on a Snapchat employee, who chronicles the rise of her former Stanford classmate — “preeminent douchebag” and current boss Evan Spiegel.
The list, now in its 13th year, was unveiled on Monday and compiled by Franklin Leonard’s Black List organization. The list of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood is based on suggestions of more than 300 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to 10 favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2018, and will not have begun principal photography during this calendar year. Scripts had to receive at least seven mentions to be included on the Black List.

Any way you slice it, Bones just gave us a very happy “End in the End.”
After 12 seasons, the Fox drama signed off Tuesday with a wistful, bittersweet and ultimately satisfying hour that found Big Bad Mark Kovac permanently neutralized (aka killed), Brennan’s temporary amnesia reversed and Cam ditching the Jeffersonian to start a new family with Arastoo (but not before promoting Hodgins into her post as lab director). Along the way, the series sort of resolved the enduring “447” mystery, paid tribute to the late Sweets and maybe revealed the gender of Angela’s unborn baby.

When Bones signs off on Tuesday night, after 12 seasons on Fox, it will do so as the network’s longest-running scripted drama, having solved -- according to finale promos -- 275 cases in 246 episodes. And that prolific conviction rate may not even be the most impressive thing that the series accomplished.
Because Bones -- which was based on the life and works of real-life forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs -- did more than just stay on the air, leapfrogging more than 20 different time slots in its 12-year run. In a television landscape populated with morose antiheroes and sarcastic protagonists that often poke fun at the earnestness of cops-and-science procedurals like Bones, sometimes directly by name (see: American Dad, Bojack Horseman, Bob’s Burgers and more), the show was a champion of justice and evidence, science and guts, “brains and heart.” It told new stories every week, while at the same time unfolding its central characters little by little, making...

"Bones" was just renewed and canceled at the same time, with Fox announcing one last season, with a shortened run of 12 episodes.
The procedural drama, starring Emily Deschanel as Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan and David Boreanaz as Special Agent Seeley Booth, premiered in September 2005, and TVLine noted that the final tally will be an impressive 246 episodes.
Showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson reacted to the announcement in a joint statement: "We couldn't be more thrilled to have another season, so we can give the show, characters and fans the end they so richly deserve. Also knowing there is a Season 12, we can now write the most rewarding Season 11 finale possible — one we hope will leave our fans excited for what's to come in this final season of Bones."

There's good news and bad news for fans of the Bones TV show on Fox. The long-running crime drama has been renewed for a 12th season but that will be the show's final run and there will only be a dozen episodes.
Bones revolves around a married couple who use their skills as an FBI agent (David Boreanaz) and a forensic anthropologist (Emily Deschanel) to solve difficult cases. The show's cast also includes Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor, Tj Thyne, and John Boyd.
Both Boreanaz and Deschanel are set to return for the final season -- as are executive producers and showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson.

This week Fox will talk with Bones TV series producers, to decide whether or not to renew the crime dramedy for a 12th season. During the Fox TCA party, showrunners Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson told TVInsider, they are having a great time and want to make season 12 of Bones.

The “Bones”-“Sleepy Hollow” Halloween crossover set to air Thursday night was all Fox’s idea. But executive producers for the two-hour programming event are pretty pleased with how it turned out. Still, Clifton Campbell and Jonathan Collier had a bit of apprehension when the directive came down from on-high. “Why would they open up their door to this supernatural element?” the “Sleepy” showrunner Campbell told TheWrap of his Thursday primetime partner’s reason to be hesitant. After all, he added, the two shows “are literally the opposite of each other.” Also Read: 'Sleepy Hollow' Showrunner Exits Show,...

Well, they've done it, and they've done it very well. Such is the opinion of executive producers Jonathan Collier of Bones and Clifton Campbell of Sleepy Hollow. Much more importantly, such is also the opinion of the press who have gotten to see the two-hour Halloween crossover event in advance. "The Resurrection in the Remains" and "Dead Men Tell No Tales" air October 29.
Who would have ever thought two such disparate universes could intertwine without threatening the integrity of the individual mythologies? How did they do it, and what were the logistical challenges? Would they ever attempt it again? These were the questions on everyone's minds when we talked with the team of executive producers one week before the Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover debuts.

"It's not that hard to have chemistry with David Boreanaz," chuckled Boreanaz' Bones co-star Emily Deschanel when press spoke with her and Executive Producer Michael Peterson about the first half of their season 11 which premieres October 1.
That adorable comment is just one example of the goodies the actress and mother-of-two had to spill. While Deschanel has been the beautiful face of Bones for a decade, Peterson and his co-executive producer, Jonathan Collier, have been writing and producing Bones for over 80 of the 212 episodes. There's a lot of good Bones-y mojo heading into season 11. The evidence is clear that the powers that be have been listening closely to what ardent fans love about Bones.

Wow. In answer to the headline's nasty question: Yes, Booth and Brennan still love each other just as much as they always have and that is why the events of "Murder in the Middle East" are so devastating. From start to finish, Bones' 19th episode was cinematographically wonderfully done. The episode's script, written by Co-executive Producer Michael Peterson, is concise, weaving together two splendidly crafted storylines.
While we have known that the gambling arc is a long-running one, this episode was a particularly thorny proposition which has been handled incredibly well by Peterson, Boreanaz, Deschanel, Taylor, and guest star Pej Vahdat. Peterson's success with "Murder in the Middle East" bodes well for the future of the Bones franchise as Peterson has recently been crowned co-showrunner with fellow Executive Producer Jonathan Collier. ...

Often buried in seemingly random and unpredictable corners of Fox's schedule, "Bones" continues to be exhumed every spring. Fox announced on Friday (May 8) that "Bones" has officially been renewed for an 11th season. The renewal, which was expected but also still long-in-coming, came the morning after "Bones" drew just over 4.5 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 for a two-hour airing, both numbers up from last week. Fox's renewal lists regulars Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, Tj Thyne, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor and John Boyd all locked down for next season. There is, however, a change at the top. Jonathan Collier and Michael Peterson will be taking over as showrunners, with Stephen Nathan taking "a temporary step back to work on other projects for Fox," though the network homes to have him back at some point during the season. Fox didn't mention an episode count. The 10th season finale for "Bones,...
