I.E. Entertainment, the global distribution outfit founded and run by industry veterans Indra and Erlina Suharjono, has come on board to handle worldwide sales for Cathay Film Company’s “Coolie.”
The TV miniseries is inspired by the little-known history of enslaved Chinese ‘coolies’ in Cuba in the 1860s. It begins shooting this week in the Dominican Republic and will also include locations in Panama.

Global distributors group Cisneros Media Distribution has announced two telenovelas to be made available on Amazon Prime Video for Latin America, “Amore Secreto” and “Gata Salvaje,” as well as three Mobius.Lab-produced titles, “Cursed Bloodlines,” “Mysterious Earth” and “Super Genios.”

Necessary Roughness Keeps Adding to the Guest Star List
The Necessary Roughness guest star list just a got a little heavier this week, having added former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann to the growing list of celebrities and sports figures slated to appear in season two.
The Super Bowl champ is set to appear in episode sixteen of Necessary Roughness in which he will play himself, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the episode, the team at the center of the series, The New York Hawks, will catch Theismann’s eye, prompting him to show interest in the team’s management.
Although episode sixteen isn’t due to air until winter, Theismann filmed the guest spot this week in Atlanta. Mario Cimarro is having a busy year. The actor, best known for his lead role on Telemundo’s primetime series “Pasion de Gavilanes,” has signed on to have a recurring role on USA Network’s “Necessary Roughness”. Cimarro plays a character named Augusto, a Spanish chef that returns incognito to team up with Dr. Dani (Callie Thorne) in an effort to surprise Jeanette (Amanda Detmer).
