There’s a significant shakeup for fans of the Law & Order franchise. Law & Order: Organized Crime has officially been renewed for its fifth season, but this time it will air on Peacock, NBC’s streaming platform. This move ends its tenure on Thursday nights alongside Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, raising questions about potential crossovers and what this means for our beloved characters. Organized Crime’s creator Dick Wolf, along with Matt Olmstead and Ilene Chaiken, meticulously crafted a gripping series that pits the Organized Crime Control Bureau against New York City’s most cunning criminal syndicates. The show

It’s official: There will no longer be an all Law & Order Thursday night on NBC. For its fifth season, Law & Order: Organized Crime is moving to the streaming service, Peacock. That breaks it up from airing Thursday nights after Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, which also means that chances are there won’t be many (if any) crossovers. And of course, that leads to the inevitable question of what that means for the will they/won’t they slow burn of Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Svu‘s Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Organized Crime was created by Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, and Ilene Chaiken. It follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. “Law & Order: Organized Crime” has been renewed for Season 5, with the show now officially set to move from NBC to Peacock.
The news comes after weeks of speculation that the show would make the jump to the streaming service from the broadcast network. The Season 4 finale will air on NBC on May 16 and stream the next day on Peacock.
Moving “Law & Order: Oc” to Peacock is not altogether surprising. The show has lagged behind fellow Dick Wolf series “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Svu,” and the three “Chicago” shows at NBC while still maintaining solid viewership. It also reportedly does very well on Peacock, particularly given its more serialized storylines, a departure from Wolf’s typical procedural format.
It was also the last Dick Wolf broadcast show awaiting word on its fate for next season. The other two “Law & Order” shows and all three “Chicago” shows were renewed back in March.

It’s a done deal — NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime starring Christopher Meloni has been renewed for a fifth season, which will be streaming exclusively on Peacock. As Deadline previously reported, Season 5 is expected to consist of 10 episodes, less than what the Wolf Entertainment series produced for NBC under normal circumstances but on the high end of an original streaming series whose seasons typically consist of 8 episodes. John Shiban is returning as showrunner.
The move gives the NBCUniversal streamer an original Dick Wolf drama series to go with the Wolf library and next-day runs of the company’s remaining NBC series Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, which are among the platform’s most viewed titles.

Reneé Rapp debuted at Coachella on Sunday afternoon and was joined by Kesha on the stage.
Kesha performed her song “Tik Tok” and made a slight change to the lyrics.
Instead of singing, “Wake up in the morning feelin’ like P. Diddy,” Kesha and Rapp sang, “Wake up in the morning like F*** P. Diddy.”
The change in the lyric comes as Sean Combs faces sexual assault allegations and is accused of sex trafficking.
Rapp took the stage at the Outdoor Theatre at the Music and Arts festival, where she had kind words to say about Kesha.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this, I think, is the hottest person on the earth. Everybody put your fucking hands together for Kesha,” Rapp said, introducing her colleague.

Also during her Coachella debut, Renee brought out special guest Kesha, who joined her to perform “Tik Tok.”
In the song, the ladies changed the opening lyrics from, “Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P Diddy,” to “Wake up in the morning’ like f–k P Diddy,” as they held up their middle fingers in the air.

Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu will be back for the 2024-25 season after NBC renewed the pair of shows but spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime is in a slightly more precarious position.
The network has renewed Law & Order for Season 24, while Law & Order: Svu will be back for Season 26.
The future of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which is in its fourth season, is still in discussion at the network. It has been the lowest rated of Dick Wolf’s NBC shows and has had a number of showrunners over its course. Matt Olmstead started out as showrunner, replaced by Ilene Chaiken, who was replaced by Barry O’Brien. Bryan Goluboff was named showrunner for Season 3 but left after three months, replaced by Sean Jablonski, who also left shortly after due to “creative differences” and was replaced by David Graziano. John Shiban is showrunner for Season 4.

On January 18, 2004, Showtime made history with “The L Word”: a spaghetti-strapped melodrama about twiggy lesbians living against a golden-filtered backdrop of mid-aughts Los Angeles.
The stroke of entertainment genius from creator/executive producer Ilene Chaiken premiered that Sunday night in two parts, introducing a revolutionary cast of LGBTQ characters who would change the face and ritual of lesbian pop culture forever. From the moment Jenny (Mia Kirshner) laid eyes on Marina (Karina Lombard)…even before Bette (Jennifer Beals) and Tina (Laurel Holloman) tried to steal that dude’s sperm…or Shane (Katherine Moennig) showed up wearing that leather vest….countless TV-loving shes, theys, and gays saw themselves reflected in a fizzy fictional universe that was finally, mercifully grounded in a semi-authentic lesbian reality.
Fast forward to 2019; the reboot happened. Showtime’s “The L Word: Generation Q” served as both a revamp of the initial concept with new characters and...

Fans of Jessica Chastain and Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” are in for another disappointment: The Oscar winner confirmed there is “zero possibility” she will star in the film adaptation.
Netflix first announced a feature film version of the 2017 novel — about a fictional Old Hollywood movie star who gives her final interview — back in 2022. Writer Liz Tigelaar (who’s worked on “Brothers & Sisters” and created the CW series “Life Unexpected”) was attached to pen the script, with Leslye Headland (“Russian Doll” co-creator and “The Acoylte” showrunner) attached to direct.
“I love how excited the fans are,” Chastain told E! News in a recent interview. “When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they’d be outside, when I was signing, with the books. I just love how wonderful that fan base is.”
Fans campaigned on social media for Chastain to play Celia St.

Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s search for a new Season 4 showrunner is finally over as Ozark executive producer John Shiban is set to take the reins of the NBC crime drama. The move comes after constant reshuffles at the top of the Christopher Meloni-led series. Since premiering in April 2021, the show has already gone through five showrunners. Chicago Fire EP Matt Olmstead was originally the writer/showrunner for the spinoff but stepped down in October 2020 before the show had even made it to air. John Shiban has been named executive producer and showrunner for “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” NBC announced on Thursday.
The Christopher Meloni-led “Law & Order”spinoff, which has gone through a series of showrunners since its debut in April 2021, is set to air its fourth season midseason.
He replaces Sean Jablonski, who stepped down in March, having been named to the position in Sept. 2022 after Bryan Goluboff’s exit. Previously, Ilene Chaiken served a 14-month stint as executive/producer and showrunner; the show’s co-executive producer Barry O’Brien was promoted to showrunner after her Feb. 2022 exit.
Shiban was an executive producer on the Netflix crime series “Ozark,” which starred Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. He was nominated for both an Emmy and a WGA Award for writing the 2020 episode “Boss Fight.”
Previously, he was under an overall deal at Sony Television while serving as showrunner and executive producer of the Hulu series “Shut Eye.

Whether it’s superhero fatigue or something else, there’s no denying that the MCU and the DC Universe are falling on hard times. Secret Invasion set record lows for Marvel, as did the reviews for Ant-Man the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Flash stumbled to become the lowest money maker in Warner Bros. history.
But let’s get a little perspective, shall we? These movies aren’t great, but superhero movies are, on the whole, better than what came before the MCU launched in 2008. Throughout the 80s and 90s, superhero movies were almost embarrassed to be about superheroes, forcing Batman into a lame revenge plot for the 1989 film and refusing to let Frank Castle wear his death’s head logo in the Cannon Films direct-to-video release. With the embrace of the genre has come better effects, brighter costumes, and outrageous plots that better reflect the high stakes the genre demands.

The Real L Word aired on Showtime from 2010 to 2012. It was one of the first reality television series to follow the lives of a group of lesbian and bisexual women who lived in Los Angeles. The original cast starred me, Jill Goldstein who was my fiancé at the time, Tracy Ryerson, Rose Garcia, Whitney Mixter and Mikey Koffman.
With a successful career behind the lens in entertainment, I’m often asked why Jill and I chose to put our lives on camera. The answer is simple: Seeing relatable stories and experiences on television can be validating and empowering.
As our narrative in the series was about wedding planning (which was legally unrecognized and unlawful in 2010 in California), we told our story to be seen and heard, to be visible outside of our community, to normalize our love for one another as no different than a traditional union between a man and a woman.

The White House tweeted a stream of their appearance, and Chaiken and Hailey, who are both lesbians, urged queer people and their allies to speak up and continue to fight in the current political climate.

Ilene Chaiken and cast members of The L Word: Generation Q appeared at the White House daily briefing on Tuesday to speak out on attacks on the Lgbtqi community.
They were at the White House to mark Lesbian Visibility Week.
“We’re delighted that The L Word lives on and speaks to a new generation,” Chaiken told reporters. “But we’re painfully aware that our struggles are far from over. We face new threats against our community, from online harassment to legislative acts of violence to actual physical violence. Astonishing, backward, mean-spirited attacks by groups and individuals who, in trying to deny our humanity, only diminish their own.”
Chaiken is co-creator, writer and executive producer of The L Word. She and the cast members were the latest showbiz figures to get the briefing room platform, following others including the cast of Ted Lasso, Cyndi Lauper and Matthew McConaughey.

Jessica Chastain is sharing her autograph policy. The Oscar winner was recently captured in a viral video turning down signing a copy of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” novel following her performance in Broadway revival of “A Doll’s House” at the Hudson Theatre, outside of which she regularly greets fans.
“I can’t sign that, just because I’m not doing it,” Chastain says to the fan in the video. The “Molly’s Game” star later took to Twitter to explain her reasoning for declining to sign books such as these.
“I’ve been asked multiple times by fans, to sign books that I’m not attached to contractually. Because it feels wrong, and like I’m taking credit for someone else’s work, I’ll say I can’t sign because I’m not doing it,” Chastain wrote. “That doesn’t mean I’ve read a bad script.

Exclusive: The L Word: Generation Q is no longer available on Showtime’s streaming service and the Showtime Anytime app. The removal comes on the heels of the series’ cancellation by the network after three seasons.
While the sequel has been removed, the groundbreaking original L Word series remains on the service. As Deadline reported exclusively last week, a reboot, The L Word: New York (working title), is in development at Showtime with the 2004 series’ creator Ilene Chaiken attached.
The removal of The L Word: Generation Q also follows the purge of a number of short-lived Showtime series from the streaming platform at the end of January as part of Showtime’s integration into Paramount+, which includes the linear network being renamed Paramount+ with Showtime later this year. As part of the changes, the company will “divert investment away from areas that are underperforming” and that accounts for “less than 10% of our views,...

Showtime has given the last word on The L Word: Generation Q, canceling the drama after three seasons. According to Deadline, Showtime declined to renew the show but is developing another offshoot of the franchise, tentatively titled The L Word: New York, with the help of co-creator Ilene Chaiken. The cancellation isn’t a total surprise: As Deadline notes, Showtime hasn’t renewed a single series since the announcement this January that Showtime would rebrand as Paramount+ with Showtime as part of an integration with the Paramount+ streaming service. Showtime previously canceled Let The Right One In and American Gigolo, while the upcoming series Three Women and Ripley moved to other outlets. Kharen Hill/Showtime Chris McCarthy, the CEO of Showtime and Paramount Media Networks, name-dropped the L Word franchise in December when he announced his plan “to lean into Showtime’s strengths” and cited three key areas for the...

Showtime is closing the book on The L Word: Generation Q.
According to Deadline, the series has been canceled after three seasons on the premium cabler.
The news comes two months after The L Word: Generation Q Season 3, which means fans could be left pondering what happened next.
While Generation Q is done, L Word creator Ilene Chaiken is prepping a reboot of the original series for Showtime.
The potential series would be called The L Word: New York and would shift the action to -- you guessed it -- New York.
Generation Q was a continuation of the original series which aired on Showtime from 2004 to 2009.

There’s been yet another change at the helm of Dick Wolf’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. Sean Jablonski is stepping down as showrunner of NBC’s police procedural, Deadline has confirmed. Jablonski is the fourth showrunner to depart the Law & Order spinoff in the past year.
Law & Order: Svu’s David Graziano will oversee the remaining three episodes of Season 3 of Law & Order: Organized Crime, starring Christopher Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Brent Antonello and Rick Gonzalez.
Sources tell Deadline Jablonski is exiting due to creative differences.
Jablonski took over as showrunner in September 2022 for Bryan Goluboff. Goluboff replaced Barry O’Brien, who was named interim showrunner in late February 2022. O’Brien had been asked to step in and finish the season after the exit of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken.

Jessica Chastain just sent BookTok into a frenzy.
The Oscar winner finally responded to the long-running fan casting of Netflix’s upcoming “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” adaptation.
During an appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Cohen brought up the project. “Jessica, are you aware — we got this a lot — of how many people want you to play Celia St. James in the film adaptation of the novel ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’?” Cohen asked Chastain.
The “George and Tammy” actress replied, “I do know there is an online thing about it. Sure, send me a script.”
Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel follows the titular Golden Age movie star as she confides in a modern-day journalist about her controversial past. Celia St. James is a fellow actress and close friend of Evelyn’s.
Social media account DeuxMoi struck down a former fan theory that Anya Taylor-Joy was rumored to be attached.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is undergoing yet another shakeup.
In a surprising move, Bryan Goluboff is stepping down as showrunner before the Season 3 premiere of the spin-off.
He will be replaced by Sean Jablonski, who has experience producing the mothership Law & Order series.
There is no word on why the sudden change is happening, which makes Jablonski the show’s fourth showrunner in seven months.
This comes after Goluboff had talked in interviews about his plan for Season 3, which would have included shorter story arcs and more focus on the personal lives of Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and his squad.
The sudden change should not affect episodes that have already been filmed but will mean some adjustments as Season 3 prepares to premiere on September 22.

There’s another change coming in the Dick Wolf universe. Sean Jablonski is stepping in as the new showrunner on “Law & Order: Organized Crime” for the upcoming third season, Variety has learned.
Jablonski becomes the fifth showrunner on the series, replacing Bryan Goluboff, who was announced as the Season 3 showrunner in May. Barry O’Brien had been named interim showrunner in February following the exit of Ilene Chaiken. Prior to Chaiken, Matt Olmstead was showrunner.
“Law & Order: Organized Crime,” produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment, revolves around the character of Elliot Stabler, played by Christopher Meloni, who starred on “Svu” for 12 seasons, and then returned to the “Law & Order” universe in 2021. Because of Stabler’s longstanding relationship with “Svu’s” Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) — something fans have obsessed over for years now — those two shows have frequently intersected since “Organized Crime” premiered.

More changes are happening behind the scenes on Law & Order: Organized Crime as the NBC procedural is once again switching showrunners ahead of the third season. As reported by Deadline, Sean Jablonski is set to take over as showrunner for Season 3, just three months after Law & Order: Svu veteran Bryan Goluboff took the reins. Goluboff had previously replaced Barry O’Brien, who was serving as interim showrunner after the departure of Ilene Chaiken in February. That means the show has been through four different showrunners in less than a year. Jablonski is perhaps best known for creating and producing the USA Network drama series Satisfaction, which aired for two seasons between 2014 and 2015. Law & Order: Organized Crime is getting another new captain behind the scenes, our sister site Deadline reports.
Sean Jablonski is taking over as showrunner for the NBC procedural’s upcoming third season, just three months after Svu veteran Bryan Goluboff took the reins from Barry O’Brien, who had been named interim showrunner following wake of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken’s departure in February. (Before you do the math, yes, that’s four showrunners in one calendar year.)

Another behind-the-scenes change at Law & Order: Organized Crime: Sean Jablonski is taking over for Bryan Goluboff as showrunner.
Just three months ago, Goluboff replaced Barry O’Brien, who was named interim showrunner in late February. Having joined the series as co-executive producer in November, O’Brien was asked to step into the leadership role and finish the season after the exit of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken. O’Brien will continue on Organized Crime as writer/executive producer for Season 3.
Now it’s Jablonski’s job to steer the Law & Order spinoff that stars Christopher Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Brent Antonello and Rick Gonzalez. Earlier in his writing career, Jablonski wrote for Law & Order before moving onto shows like Nip/Tuck, Suits and Project Blue Book. He’s repped by CAA, Underground Management and Gregg Gellman.

Nearly 400 directors have signed a statement of solidarity with the showrunners’ letter demanding abortion protections from networks, studios and streamers a week and a half ago.
There are now nearly 1,500 writers and directors presenting a united front in asking Hollywood’s employers to help provide abortion access in states where it is now illegal. On July 28, more than 400 female, trans and non-binary TV creators and showrunners sent a letter to the likes of Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal and Netflix asking them to craft explicit policies to protect employees seeking abortions, particularly those working on productions in states where the procedure is now or soon will be prohibited following the Supreme Court’s ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson. On Aug. 1, nearly 600 of their male counterparts signed a statement of support.
The original letter demanded that companies furnish a written policy of their current abortion safety plan within 10 days.

A “Law & Order: Organized Crime” crew member was shot and killed on set during the early morning hours on Tuesday, IndieWire has confirmed.
“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result,” NBC and Universal Television said in a joint statement shared with IndieWire. “We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
“Law & Order: Organized Crime” was filming in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood on the corner of Henry St. and Norman Ave., a person with knowledge of production told IndieWire. The crew member, a contract worker and thus not an employee of Universal Television, was performing set security and parking enforcement, the person told us.
