Argentina has made a formal complaint to the BBC over the handling over an upcoming Top Gear special filmed in the country.
The Top Gear crew were forced to abandon filming of the episode last month, after they were met with angry protests due to a car number plate that appeared to reference the Falklands War.
Ambassador Alicia Castro said that BBC director of television Danny Cohen's response to the matter was "inadequate".
Writing to the BBC Trust, Castro also said that presenter Jeremy Clarkson's behaviour landed "well below" BBC editorial values.
A Porsche used on the show had the registration H982 Fkl, which led to some suggesting that it could refer to the Falklands war between the UK and Argentina in 1982.
However, Clarkson and the BBC have insisted that the plate was merely a coincidence.

The ambassador of Argentina has made a formal complaint to the BBC following the furore over Top Gear's filming in the country.
Earlier this month, an episode of the programme had to be halted after the presenters and crew faced violence from angry locals over their car's registration plate 'H982FKL' - thought to refer to the Falklands War.
Now seeking a public apology, a statement from the Argentinian embassy said: "Argentine ambassador to the UK Alicia Castro made a formal complaint to the BBC regarding Jeremy Clarkson's provocative behaviour and offensive remarks towards the government and the Argentine people, following Top Gear's recent filming in Argentina, calling for the BBC to make a public apology."
Castro also visited the BBC's New Broadcasting House on Monday to speak to the corporation's Director of Television Danny Cohen.
The embassy statement added: "Furthermore, the Argentine ambassador deeply regretted Jeremy Clarkson...
