[This story contains spoilers from the season three premiere of The Cleaning Lady.]
For a woman who calls herself The Cleaning Lady, Thony de la Rosa (Élodie Yung) has yet to figure out how to clean up the biggest mess of her own making.
After her well-intentioned but misguided attempts to illegally procure a drug to save her ailing son resulted in the death of FBI agent Garrett Miller (Oliver Hudson) and the deportation of her sister-in-law Fiona (Martha Millan), Thony is dealt another devastating blow in the season three premiere of the Fox crime drama.
Hoping to smuggle Fiona back into the U.S. on a private plane used to ship drugs to the Philippines, Thony and her partner-in-crime Arman (Adan Canto) find themselves involved in a shootout with authorities and potential mobsters. Exclusive: Senior television literary agent Melissa Orton-Cortez, most recently from CAA, has joined Adventure Media as a manager and partner alongside founding partners Chris von Goetz, James Robins Early and Aaliyah Williams.
This marks a reunion for Orton-Cortez and fellow former lit agents-turned-managers von Goetz and Robins Early who worked together for a decade at ICM Partners prior to the agency’s acquisition by CAA last year when von Goetz and Robins Early left and teamed with Williams to launch Adventure.
Meanwhile, Orton-Cortez transitioned to CAA where she had been for the past year. She was the highest profile departure in the recent round of layoffs at the agency, and a number of companies pursued her over the last couple of weeks. She opted to go with Adventure.

The Cleaning Lady has brought intrigue, action, and romance since it debuted on Fox in 2022.
The addicting crime drama was developed by Miranda Kwok and followed Thony De La Rhosa’s struggles in Las Vegas. Her young son had a rare blood disorder, and she couldn’t afford treatment unless she worked for the mob and they helped her.
During The Cleaning Lady Season 2, Thony grew even deeper into the crime world to save Luca, but that had severe consequences. While it was sometimes frustrating to see her make those mistakes and see others pay for them, we’re eager to see what’s next for everyone.
Luckily, Fox renewed The Cleaning Lady for a third season in February 2023.
“After two heart-pounding seasons, we’re thrilled with how audiences have latched on to this incredible story,” said Michael Thorn. Fox Entertainment President.

Fox has renewed "The Cleaning Lady" for a third season (via The Hollywood Reporter), just seven weeks after the show premiered its second. Behind the scenes, it will mark a new chapter for the series as Jeanine Renshaw will join creator Miranda Kwok as co-showrunner, helming the crime drama series alongside her. Renshaw is replacing Melissa Carter, who is exiting the show's creative team to work on her overall deal, in development at Warner Bros.
"The Cleaning Lady" is based on "La Chica Que Limpia," an Argentine series about a woman named Rosa whose life is changed following a murder at the boxing gym she works as a cleaning lady. The American adaptation, described by the network as "a story of empowerment, resilience and the human spirit that asks us all if the ends justify the means," is led by French-Camobdian actress Élodie Yung ("Daredevil") and follows her character Thony De La Rosa.

Now that The Cleaning Lady Season 2 finale has aired, TV Fanatic chatted with the showrunners, Melissa Carter and Miranda Kwok, to discuss the biggest twists and the potential for Season 3.
With so much to discuss, we spoke with Carter and Kwok about the devastating consequences of Thony's choices, which woman Arman really loves, the potential of Jd & Fiona, and a potential Season 3 renewal.
Check out the interview below:
Hello Miranda and Melissa. It's an honor to talk to you both. I'm a huge fan. So, the Cleaning Lady Season 2 finale ended with a bang. This season seemed a lot darker, especially for Thony as she tried to find medication for Luca.
Was that your intent to make her darker, even if she alienated some allies in the process?
Melissa: We wanted to show that you can't get involved with crime without it affecting even if the reasons are good.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady.
Season 2 of The Cleaning Lady came to a close Monday night with a two-part finale that killed two key characters and left Thony (Elodie Yung) to pick up the pieces.
Despite warnings to stay away from Robert Kamdar (Naveen Andrews) as the FBI closed in on him, Thony once again took matters into her own hands. While Arman (Adan Canto) was eventually able to take him down, FBI agent Garrett Miller (Oliver Hudson) was also killed in the process — disintegrating Thony’s connection to law enforcement and ruining her chances of saving her sister Fiona (Martha Millan) from deportation after the two are caught stealing medical equipment and administering an experimental drug to Thony’s son to save his life.

Spoiler alert: The following article discusses the Season 2 finale of “The Cleaning Lady.”
Having maneuvered through bureaucratic red tape, escaped near death at the hands of kingpins and wiggled out of immigration issues several times, Thony (Élodie Yung) finally finds herself in binds she can’t get out of at the end of “The Cleaning Lady” Season 2.
Her admirable, yet ultimately foolhardy, dedication to her son results in the death of FBI agent Garrett (Oliver Hudson) and deportation of sister-in-law Fiona (Martha Millan). The decision to leave Thony desperate and reaping the consequences of her rash and criminally amateur actions is one that co-showrunners and executive producers Melissa Carter and Miranda Kwok were keen to depict: As much as Thony believes she knows best, that she knows right from wrong, she can’t always get off scot-free.

Spoiler alert: The following article discusses the entirety of “The Cleaning Lady” Season 2, Episode 7, titled “Truth or Consequences.”
The midway point of “The Cleaning Lady” Season 2, the seventh episode aptly titled “Truth or Consequences,” sees the confluence of several narrative conclusions orbiting Thony’s (Élodie Yung) family and their accidental yet growing status in Las Vegas’ criminal underbelly; among them, Chris (Sean Lew) begins healing from his traumatic involvement in Marco’s death, the impetus of the Fox crime-thriller’s sophomore installment, and Arman (Adan Canto) shows how far he’s willing to go to protect Thony. It’s all part of the plan creator Miranda Kwok envisions on her quest to lead a series that embodies a type of “female ‘Breaking Bad,’” as Thony couches her wavering morality in a kill-or-be-killed environment.
“She was always resisting it,” the showrunner and executive producer told TheWrap. “She is somebody who’s...

Any lingering doubt that The Cleaning Lady‘s Robert Kamdar is an extremely formidable foe was sufficiently wiped out during Monday’s episode of the Fox drama.
In Episode 7 of the sophomore run, Robert attempted to sniff out which of his untrustworthy associates facilitated the FBI raid that went down at Cortes’ mansion two weeks ago. The gut-wrenching final act found Robert giving Arman a bleak ultimatum: Arman had to kill Maya, the onetime informant with whom Garrett has been entangled, or one of Robert’s men would shoot Thony instead.

Naveen Andrews, the Emmy-nominated “Lost” actor, was drawn to his character Robert Kamdar, a new malignant presence in “The Cleaning Lady” Season 2, because of his cunning intelligence. Presented as the crime show’s new baddie and Nadia’s (Eva De Dominici) ex, the calculated criminal is intent on fracturing her already crumbling relationship with husband Arman (Adan Canto) — and pretty much everything else.
“He does seem to operate without any kind of moral fiber and certainly has issues: He needs therapy of some kind,” Andrews told TheWrap in an interview. “But if there’s one redeeming factor, it’s his relationship with Nadia — for some reason she’s exempt from his rather dark worldview. Exclusive: Miranda Kwok, developer and executive producer of Fox’s drama series The Cleaning Lady, has been promoted to showrunner alongside executive producer/showrunner Melissa Carter, who will remain in her post under a new overall deal she signed with series producer Warner Bros TV several months ago. The shift from one to two showrunners will take place at the beginning of production on episode 207 of the drama’s upcoming second season.
Kwok’s promotion follows a natural progression for creators with limited prior experience who land a series on the air. When she created The Cleaning Lady based on the Argentinian format La Chica Que Limpia, Kwok had been on Wbtv-produced The 100 for four years, rising to supervising producer, having been a staff writer on Spartacus: Blood & Sand before that.
She was paired with Carter, an experienced showrunner on Wbtv’s talent roster, who was tapped to run the new series.

After watching her marriage steadily threatened by Arman’s involvement with Thony (Élodie Yung), this season the tables get turned. When Arman becomes embroiled in a dangerous situation, Nadia reaches out to a former lover for help, and he quickly becomes intent on winning Nadia back by any means necessary. On the Fox drama The Cleaning Lady, Elodie Yung plays Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian-Filipino doctor who moves to the United States to seek treatment for her son, Luca, who has a rare and life-threatening disorder. Living in Las Vegas on an expired visa while she waits for the treatment her son requires, Thony finds work as a cleaner — until she witnesses a violent crime and is offered a job as a doctor for an organized crime syndicate.
Series star Elodie Yung, showrunner Melissa Carter and writer Miranda Kwok, who also developed the series, joined The Hollywood Reporter’s Tyler Coates for a THR Presents Q&a powered by Vision Media to discuss how the show incorporated Yung’s own cultural background into the character of Thony and how they’re tackling heavy subjects rarely seen in a broadcast crime drama.

The lead role of the Fox drama series “The Cleaning Lady” — an immigrant medical doctor working as a cleaning lady in the United States — was originally written for a Filipina woman. But when Élodie Yung nabbed the role, the show’s producers and writers had to reconsider their approach to representation and authenticity. Not only did they change the character’s background to match Yung — who is of Cambodian and French descent – but they also asked Yung for her personal input.
“When I landed the part, which was originally for a Filipina woman, they said, ‘Oh, we’d like to embrace your origins,’ so we made Thony, and the name was based on one of my dad’s cousins, so we made her Cambodian which I’m very proud of,” Yung said during the latest installment of TheWrap’s original video series “How I Did It.”

“The key to being a good showrunner is to hire really good people and trust they know how to do their job better than you know how to do their job,” reveals “The Cleaning Lady” executive producer Melissa Carter. For our recent webchat she continues, “You let everyone know what you’re trying to achieve, and then you let them do their work.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Thony De La Rosa's reign on Fox will continue for another season.
Fox on Thursday officially renewed the hit drama for a second season, citing strong ratings across all platforms.
The Cleaning Lady Season 1 averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49 in live + 7 results, placing #3 behind 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star.
“This heart-pounding, emotionally driven story has captivated audiences across all platforms with its empowering, suspenseful narrative about an undocumented worker forced to navigate the criminal underworld to save her ailing son’s life,” said Michael Thorn, president of Fox Entertainment.

Fox‘s The Cleaning Lady will be back for a second season.
The renewal, announced by the network Thursday, comes as little surprise considering The Cleaning Lady is a Top 5 new broadcast drama of the 2021-22 season with the #1 largest total multi-platform audience for a new Fox show this season. It marked Fox’s highest-rated drama premiere in two years as well as Hulu’s most-streamed Fox debut in the network’s history.

When it debuted in January, the newcomer earned a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers in Live+Same Day. Over time the debut has amassed 11.9 total viewers across multiple platforms for the network’s most watched drama debut in two years.

By the time The Cleaning Lady‘s freshman finale came to an end on Monday night, Thony De La Rosa had 1) disentangled herself from a sticky legal situation, 2) gained access to the Barsamian syndicate’s substantial finances, which she now controls, and 3) swatted away the mosquito that is FBI Agent Garrett Miller, at least for the time being.
But none of those wins meant anything when she returned home to find her son Luca’s bed unexpectedly empty: Thony’s husband, Marco, had taken the boy while Thony was gone, and they were likely well on their way back to...

When Élodie Yung signed on to The Cleaning Lady, she relished the opportunity to play a character of many layers—a Cambodian immigrant coming from the Philippines to America who meets “extreme situations” with remarkable resilience, and will do whatever it takes to protect her son.
“My dad came from another country and had to make his own place in France, so I could very much relate to that. I was so glad I could be seen for the first time for really who I am as a whole person, with my origins, my background, and also just what I could bring as an actor,” she said today during a Fox TCA panel, which saw a first trailer for the series unveiled. “It was such a strong part, and draining, but beautiful to have.”

‘Stargirl’ Casts Nick Tarabay & Jonathan Cake As Eclipso & The Shade, Adds Ysa Penarejo As Recurring
Exclusive: DC’s Stargirl has found its Eclipso and The Shade – two of its primary villains for the series’ upcoming Season 2 on the CW. Nick Tarabay (The Expanse) will play the series regular role of Eclipso and Jonathan Cake (The Affair) will recur as The Shade. Additionally Ysa Penarejo (Project Mc2) will recur as an undisclosed DC character.
Stargirl creator/EP Geoff Johns teased the upcoming Eclipso and The Shade DC characters earlier this month at New York Comic Con. “Eclipso is so terrifying. I’ve always loved the character, and he’s a very different antagonist or villain than the [Injustice Society of America],” Johns said. He added that The Shade is “the most powerful of them all, and very threatening because no one knows exactly what he wants.”

DC’s Stargirl creator Geoff John said the sophomore season of the CW show will explore even more of the comic’s wealthy source material, from villains to new superheroes.
“I’m so excited to be doing season two with everybody because we have so many other things to explore with these characters and other avenues and other characters that existed in the world to meet and introduce,” he said at DC’s FanDome. “We’ll do it the best way we can and will do it our own pace.”
On Saturday, John sat down with stars Brec Bassinger, Amy Smart, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington and Cameron Gellman to reflect on the show’s premiere season and tease what’s yet to come for DC’s Stargirl. The series, which was renewed for its sophomore season in July, follows Courntey Whitmore, a.k.a. Stargirl (Bassinger), as she inspires the...

One of the best DC Comics TV shows has just finished its super and terrific first season. Fans of DC Universe’s “Stargirl” were treated to an exciting Season One Finale filled with a Justice League vs the Injustice Society battle, as well as a little cliffhanger for Season 2.
The surprises in season finale gave us so many cool twists and turns, and of course, deep comic book Easter eggs. Plus we got to meet the Seven Soldiers of Victory, a team of Golden Age lawmen, along with team member, “Shining Knight”. And even though the Seven Soldiers never got the name recognition the Justice Society had, they still hold their own special place in the history of the DC Universe.
