One of the many films that was tangled up in the video nasty debacle of the early 80s, Don’t Go In The House tells the story of Donny, a somewhat disturbed man who lives under the thumb of his overbearing and sadistic (in the sense that she likes to burn his arms on the stove) mother. That is until his mother passes away and Donny’s already disturbed psyche finally cracks. Living only with the voices in his head, Donny seeks out female companionship, only his idea of bringing a girl home to meet mother entails tying them up in his steel-walled burning chamber!
Don’t Go In the House is a film clearly inspired by Psycho, yet it shares very familiar traits with William Lustig’s Maniac...

Playhouse West is heading east. Jim Parrack is bringing the venerable Los Angeles acting school—founded by Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum in 1981—to New York City with Playhouse West Brooklyn Lab, set to open in Brooklyn this spring. The “True Blood” actor, currently on Broadway in “Of Mice and Men,” credits the school with changing his career and life. “I can’t point to anything that has been more responsible for my career than my training,” Parrack says. “What [Playhouse West] gave me, apart from a technique and a foundation for how to approach acting, was a real respect for what it can mean to be an actor.” Parrack wants to bring that to other actors, so, despite a booming career, he’s making Playhouse West Brooklyn Lab his priority—where he’ll be the sole teacher for the first four months of classes. Finding the right training isn’t always easy.

James Franco is not only one of young Hollywood's favorite film stars, he's an artist, soap opera star, published author, student and much more. "Saturday Night Live" recently poked fun at Franco for his work ethic and inability to say "no" to a project.
For his role as mountain climber Aron Ralston in "12 Days," Franco earned his first Academy Award nomination.

"Hey, I'm Penny." As I look up at the sound of her melodic voice, a petite hand—nails chewed down to the cuticle—presents itself in front of me. She is wearing a long, red-and-brown tie-dyed hippie dress with four-inch stripper heels and a full face of makeup. Acting since childhood, Penny had worked on a few big-budget movies and played the daughter in a short-lived but rather well-known television series. Her performing arts high school boasted a student body that now makes up the Who's Who of Young Hollywood. In her mid-teens she traveled the world as the opening singer for a prominent boy band. She was groomed for success. We were both studying under the brilliant Robert Carnegie at Playhouse West. I had just moved to Los Angeles—starry-eyed, bushy-tailed. And as it turned out, we are both repped by the same prestigious boutique agency, so we begin...

Would you like an actor with those fries? During his appearance on 'Inside the Actors Studio' (Tue., 8Pm Et on Bravo), James Franco revealed that he learned the craft of acting while dishing out hamburgers at a McDonald's drive-through window.
James dropped out of college to become an actor, but his parents weren't about to support him financially. After leaving school, he was broke ... and quasi-homeless (he slept in friends' cars, or on the docks at the waterfront).
While working at McDonald's, James started attending Playhouse West, one of the best acting schools in the world. Naturally, he couldn't afford the tuition. But Robert Carnegie -- who ran the school -- let him take classes at a reduced price. While speaking of his old drama coach, Franco started to choke up. "He was the one person who said, 'You should take a chance on yourself.

Just because he plays Jacob, the enigmatic leader of the island on "Lost," doesn't mean Mark Pellegrino has any answers. Try to pry secrets from him about the show's final season, and he laughs. "I would love to tell you—if I actually knew," he admits. "It's all in the brains of the creators and writers, and none of us know." The character of Jacob was often spoken of but never seen until the final episode of the show's fifth season. Not being a regular viewer of the show, Pellegrino had no idea that he was auditioning for such a mythic role. "There's so much secrecy surrounding the show that they literally send out false sides with false character names. I think his name was Jason in the sides, and all I knew was I was doing a scene on the beach with somebody," he recalls. "It wasn't until the...
