- (Summer 1959) His play, "Li'l Abner," was performed in a Kenley Players production at the Packard Music Hall Theatre in Warren, Ohio with Stephen Douglass in the cast. John Kenley was artistic director.
- (Summer 1977) Gene De Paul, Johnny Mercer and his musical, "Li'l Abner," was performed in a Kenley Players production at the Packard Music Hall Theatre in Warren and Memorial Hall in Dayton, Ohio with Lucie Arnaz and Dirk Benedick in the cast. John Kenley was artistic director.
