My name is Jared, aka BeastPop (with my brand name being BeastWreck), and I make illustrations and designs featuring all the stuff I like, ranging from cartoon monsters and beasts to horror-themed artwork. I sell these designs on a bunch of stuff like shirts, mugs, and art prints through my various web shops, and I mess around with character design when I can.
I prefer to work traditionally with some good ol’ fashioned pencils, pens, and brushes on illustration paper — pencil sketching with graphite or colored pencils, and inking with an assortment of pens and watercolor brushes with india ink. I will often digitally ink for convenience sake, however, and most of my coloring work is done digitally.
I drew all the time as a kid, filling up reams of paper, and drawing on the walls, etc, but I didn’t really take it seriously as a potential profession until much later in life.

Every now and again there's geek controversy and sometime that controversy spreads to twitter. Presently, Man of Steel is creating a deep divide in the public forum. I'm reading things like that's not Superman, there were no jokes, too much CGI, and a few other complaints about the Superman reboot. I'm also seeing people state Man of Steel is the best Superman film ever, the best comic book movie ever and exactly what Superman needed for 2013. Below, you can see some of the wide array of feelings on Man of Steel from various celebrities, comic book writers and film journalists. My Man Of Steel review--non-spoilers, then spoilers: http://t.co/b7ULfJAMEJ— Mark Waid (@MarkWaid) June 14, 2013 Superman was full of punching. Earlier this month, sci-fi fans were stunned when storyboard artist Eric Canete indicated on Twitter (where else, these days?!) that Disney Xd's Tron: Uprising - an animated sequel/prequel set between the two movies Tron and Tron: Legacy - would not be getting a second season.
As an online kerfuffle began to bubble about the show's cancellation, producer Edward Kitsis stepped in and clarified: "I don't know what the future [of Tron: Uprising] is now. I know at the present, I can say we need more viewers. The problem is, not enough people are watching it.
"At this point, I don't believe its fate has been decided. So if people keep watching, then there's still a chance. Please watch. Tell your friends."
Among the voice actors in Tron: Uprising is genre legend Bruce Boxleitner, reprising his role as Tron. So what does he have to say about the TV series, and will he...

Thank you for your viewership.— Eric Canete (@EricCanete) January 7, 2013 Just last month it was announced that newcomer Jesse Wigutow would rewrite a script from David Digilio for a third entry in the Tron film franchise. Garret Hedlund has also been confirmed to return for what could be a very interesting, potentially Grid-free threequel based on how 'Legacy' ended. Fans that were waiting on the news of the third film took solace in the form of Tron:Uprising. Launched to much fanfare and featuring strong voice acting from Elijah Wood, Paul Reubens, Bruce Boxleitner and Emmanuelle Chriqui among others. Sadly, storyboard artist Eric Canete has confirmed that the show won't be receiving a second season. The show premiered on Disney Xd on...

It’s that time again… okay, it’s a little past that normal time, thanks to the Mix March Madness wrapup, but here are the preview materials for DC Comics releases for July 2012.
What’s on tap this month? More of the Before Watchmen books, with the debut of Ozymandias from Len Wein and Jae Lee, the conclusion of the Court of Owls storyline and crossover in all the Bat-books, and the debut of the done-in-one book, National Comics, featuring the New 52 Debut (coming right at you) of Eternity.
And in the white elephant of desire category, there’s the $300 statue showing the climactic scene from The Dark Knight Returns.
Once more, into the breach? Banzai!
As always, spoilers may lurk beyond this point.

If anyone can sympathize with George Lucas amid all of the criticism he's recently received over the new Star Wars Blu-ray changes, it's comic book creators. Ron Marz and Eric Canete both came to the franchise founder's defense with some stern words today.
On a much more serious note, creators have been banding together to raise money to help cartoonist Dylan Williams, who's currently battling cancer. If you want to help out, you could do a lot worse than picking up the Batwoman artwork that Steve Lieber put up on eBay. Check out a link to that, pressing questions and a proposed casting choice for a "Stronium Dog" movie.

Here it is. The full 52 titles that DC Will debut at the end of the summer. There are a lot of exciting new beginnings for old favorites like Swamp Thing and Sgt. Rock, and the whole lineup is chock full of some of the greatest names in the business. I’m a little disappointed that DC burned 11 of its new titles on the Bat-family alone. That seems a little bit of a waste. Especially since 4 of those titles actually feature Bruce Wayne/Batman in them. I love Bats as much as the next guy, but 4 titles? Really? I thought the whole renumbering was supposed to fix things like that.
In any event, here are the 52. I’m pretty excited all around. Let me hear your thoughts in the comments below.

The New Avengers: Luke Cage - Town Without Pity Trade Paperback

Letters by Joe Sabino, Various
Price: $14.99

Luke Cage's most recent solo adventure is the lead story collected in this trade paperback. The cover is a bit misleading because it implies that Ronin (now Hawkeye again) and Spider-Man play a major part in the series. Actually, they mainly appear in the first issue.
The story takes place during the end of the Superhuman Registration Act era in the Marvel Universe. Luke Cage gets a call from his old friend Leodis Dyson. Dyson is beaten and hospitalized by gangsters in North Philadelphia, so Cage travels to Philly to help Dyson out. After he arrives, he encounters a much deeper scandal that involves corrupt politicians, gangs,...

This week I am personally fired up for the new Marvel series S.W.O.R.D. #1 by new Thor writer Kieron Gillen and Steven Sanders. The last time I saw Sanders he did the Five Fists of Science with Matt Fraction that feels like it was a century ago. The series is a spinoff from Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men where we follow Agent Brand, Beast and Lockheed through the cosmos.
Following that is the new Doctor Strange spinoff, Strange by Mark Waid and Emma Rios. Being a nut for all things Deadpool, the latest issue of Amazing Spider-Man guest stars the Merc with a Mouth. But that’s not really why I’m buying the issue, its ’cause the awesome Eric Canete draws the issue.

This week we have at least one high quality comic from every publisher. From Image this week, I’m sad to see Rick Remender’s The End League go, but like all good things they must come to end. This time with brilliant art by some guy named Eric Canete and NYC Mech’s Andy MacDonald.
From DC Comics, I’m intrigued with the Great Ten spinoff series from Checkmate, with their spotlight in Final Crisis. This could make for an intriguing read.
From Marvel, we have the last issue of Captain America Rebirth in which we get an idea how Steve Rogers rejoins the universe. Deadpool will take on Spider-Man in the upcoming Spider-Man #611, according to writer Joe Kelly. The scribe is credited with establishing Deadpool as one of Marvel's mainstay characters, penning the anti-hero's "surreal" run in the late 1990s. He will team up with cover artist Skottie Young and interior artist Eric Canete for the issue. "We're just trying to keep the Deadpool machine going," Kelly told MTV.
