A man walks into a room. He’s just picked a winning ticket in a lottery, been blindfolded, and led through the snow. Now, inside a windowless and mostly bare apartment, he’s being asked to disrobe. I have to take off everything, the man asks? Everything. The fact that a TV producer is telling him this is cause for concern. Besides, isn’t this supposed to be some sort of televised contest? Why is he being left au naturel? Don’t worry, the producer says. Most of this won’t be aired.

Amazon Prime Video has officially ordered a 20-episode season of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” from MGM Alternative, the streamer announced Tuesday. As previously reported by Variety, the “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” spinoff will be hosted by Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with ‘Are you Smarter than a Celebrity?’,” Kelce said. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. When Donald Trump left his seat in the boardroom as the star of his long-running NBC reality series “The Apprentice” in 2015, in order to run for president of the United States, he had a clear successor in mind.
“I said, ‘The best person to hire would be Ivanka Trump,’” Donald Trump says. “I didn’t press it. But I felt Ivanka would have been by far the best person you could hire.”
Trump shares this revelation in a new book about his years as a reality star, “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” written by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh. The book peels back the curtain on how Trump’s decade playing an all-knowing mogul on TV shaped his image as a politician, ultimately catapulting him to the White House.

Travis Kelce has made no secret of his interest in an off-field career when he retire from the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is now in talks to host his first game show – a reboot of Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? for Amazon.
Sources told Deadline that there are conversations but a deal is not yet closed. This could also depend on his availability given that he appears ready to suit up for the Super Bowl champions for another seasons – a “threepeat” if you like.
Kelce previously hosted dating show Catching Kelce for the USA Network, long before he got together with Taylor Swift.
It would mark the latest reboot of the format, which came from Mark Burnett, and aired on Fox between 2007 and 2009 and again in 2015. There was also a syndicated version and a reboot on Nickelodeon, hosted by John Cena, in 2019.
The news was broken by Perez Hilton.

Jamie Foxx is returning to Fox’s game show Beat Shazam after missing the show’s most recent season following a health scare.
The network announced Monday that Foxx and daughter Corinne will resume hosting duties on the music-based game show, whose seventh season premieres May 28. After a medical issue during filming of Netflix’s movie Back in Action in April 2023, Foxx was hospitalized and underwent a long recovery process.
Foxx hasn’t disclosed the nature of the medical issue, but in his first public appearance since then — at a Critics Choice Association event in December — he hinted at some serious effects: “I couldn’t do that six months ago, I couldn’t actually walk to [the stage],” he said at the time. He also joked that “I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light. It was hot in that tunnel too — I don’t know where I was going.

Producer Mark Burnett expected a hit when he sent 16 contestants and a then-unknown 38-year-old host named Jeff Probst to the Borneo island of Malaysia for an adaptation of the Swedish competition show Expedition Robinson. What he got instead was a cultural phenomenon. Survivor instantly became a ratings juggernaut, and viewership for the first season finale reached north of 50 million. Reality TV existed before Survivor, but the show’s low overhead and potential for mass appeal single-handedly ushered in the reality-competition boom.
In the 24 years since it hit airwaves, Survivor has morphed from a “social experiment” into television’s most complex and grueling competition, with players practically raised on the show elevating it to new heights of strategy. In a recent interview with the Showtime podcast All The Smoke, Cuban told hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson that season 16 of the ABC series will be his last. The reality show from Mark Burnett is currently in its 15th season.
“It’s time,” said Cuban, who first guested on Shark Tank in season 2 before becoming a regular shark the following year. He’s been a popular mainstay ever since.
“I love it because it sends the message the American dream is alive and well,” Cuban told Barnes and Jackson. “I feel like in doing Shark Tank all these years, we’ve trained multiple generations of entrepreneurs that if somebody can come from Iowa or Sacramento or wherever, and show up on the carpet of Shark Tank and show their business and get a deal, it’s going to inspire generations of kids.

Paramount has cut a deal to sell off its Bellator mixed martial arts promotion.
The company is selling a majority stake in Bellator to the Professional Fighters League (Pfl), an upstart Mma promotion that was created to take on the UFC, which is the dominant player in the space.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but previous reports had pegged the value of Bellator at around $500 million. Paramount will retain a minority stake in the combined company.
Donn Davis, the founder of Pfl, announced the acquisition Monday morning, writing that its fighter roster is now equal to that of the UFC, and that it will relaunch the Bellator brand next year.
Pfl received a substantial investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund earlier this year, and also counts Kevin Hart, Mark Burnett and Wiz Khalifa as minority owners.

Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky co-star Burt Young was as important and memorable to the franchise as Stallone himself. But the decisions Stallone made for Rocky V jeopardized his friendship with Young for quite some time.
Burt Young wouldn’t talk to Sylvester Stallone after the way his character was written in ‘Rocky V’ Sylvester Stallone and Burt Young | Bruce Glikas/FilmMagic
Rocky V has always been a sore spot for both Stallone and some of the franchise’s fans. Stallone’s iconic character ended up back where he started. Between losing all of his money, and the havoc boxing wreaked on his mind and body, Rocky moved back to Philadelphia. The film focused on how the sports star, who was now living a very modest life, was grooming the next generation of boxer.

Cesareo will still oversee and exec produce On Patrol: Live, which has become a ratings success for Reelz, and D’Agostino will also exec produce. Cesareo’s arrangement is similar to that of former MGM’s Worldwide Television Group Chairman Mark Burnett, who will continue to exec produce legacy series The Voice, Shark Tank and Survivor, and Alex Baskin, who continues to exec produce...

It’s not the action icon’s first time stepping into the reality TV ring — back in 2005, he cohosted Season 1 of The Contender, a boxing competition from Mark Burnett — but this one allows him to capture moments of the heart instead of punches to the gut. “I know what it’s like to live our private life, but I want to [preserve] it. I want to make a real, long memory of it,” says the Italian Stallion turned ol’ softy.
