Cameo, which allows celebrities to send personalized video messages to fans for a fee, is seeing a resurgence among actors looking for an alternative source of income amid the current SAG-AFTRA strike.
Notable names who joined or reactivated their accounts since the onset of the SAG-AFTRA strike include Alyssa Milano, who charges $300 for a personalized video; Cheyenne Jackson, who charges $95 for a video and $3 for a message; Chris Wood, who charges $499 for a personalized video and $20 for a message; China Anne McClain, who charges $199 for a video; and Melissa Benoist, who charges $400 for a personalized video and $20 for a message.

The BBC will air programmes directly addressing the cost of living crisis alongside “escapist” TV during the “very challenging time ahead”.
Speaking at a BBC factual launch on Wednesday (28 September), the corporation’s director of unscripted programming Kate Phillips said that she hoped the BBC would be able to “to bring audiences together” with content that is “very British at its heart”.
This includes a new David Attenborough series set in the UK.
There will also be a week of programming specifically addressing the cost of living crisis, including shows such as Morning Live, The One Show and Stacy Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out.
“It’s about showing people we’re in tough times but also giving them tips and trying to help them navigate it… what can we do as the BBC to help [everyone] through a very challenging time ahead,” Phillips said.

Perrie Edwards’ home was reportedly raided by burglars while the Little Mix star was at home with fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and their 13-month-old son.
The singer and footballer, who announced their engagement in June, were “terrified” and “heartbroken” when thieves entered their Cheshire mansion on Tuesday (27 September) night, reports claim.
The Sun reports that the pair were downstairs in their home with baby son Axel when the burglars broke in upstairs, stealing “a lot of valuable items” including jewellery and designer bags.
They called police from inside their home, with detectives now said to be looking at CCTV footage for leads.
A source claiming to be a friend of the couple told the publication: “It’s just the most violating thing – to think that someone has been all over their belongings before they even realised what was happening is so upsetting.

The Inbetweeners star James Buckley is continuing to take Cameo by storm in the UK.
The comedy actor joined the video platform in March 2020, where he swiftly gained popularity for his willingness to send personalised videos quoting his famous catchphrases from the sitcom.
Buckley, who played Jay Cartwright on the Channel 4 show, regularly responds to requests for clips, with reports in 2021 revealing that he was responding to as many as 37 requests a day.
At the time, company co-founder Martin Blencowe said that actor “takes it very seriously”, adding: “He’s ready to do the work.”
It seems this has paid off following reports that Buckley has now become the first non-us celebrity to make 1m from the platform.
Confirming the report, Blencowe commented on why Buckley continues to be so successful on the app.

In this edition of The Silver Lining, we’ll be covering Grégory Levasseur’s Egyptology-based Found Footage flick, The Pyramid.
Acclaimed director Alexandre Aja first rose to notoriety as a member of the early 2000s French Extremity movement after shocking audiences with the intensely gory Haute Tension (A.K.A. High Tension/Switchblade Romance). While this peculiar little slasher flick eventually led Aja to an international career as a celebrated director and producer, part of his success can be attributed to his friend and frequent collaborator, Grégory Levasseur.
From Haute Tension to The Hills Have Eyes and even Piranha 3D, Aja has always been backed up by Levasseur, who co-wrote and produced most of his projects. That’s why it stands to reason that the director would eventually pull a few strings and scramble together a budget for Levasseur to direct his first feature film, which would come in the...

Exclusive: Banijay Rights is in the process of taking control of the global rights to The Inbetweeners — a transition that has caused the comedy’s YouTube channel to go dark.
Drg has long held the international rights to the show, but this deal ended in recent weeks and the rights are being transferred to Banijay, which owns Inbetweeners producer Bwark Productions. Banijay will now control the show in the UK and the rest of the world.
The timing of the transition has been unfortunate, however, as it resulted in The Inbetweeners‘ YouTube channel going offline, prompting internet conspiracies that it is among the shows that have been taken down in recent days over discrimination concerns.
Netflix has taken a tough stance on shows featuring performers in blackface, taking down comedies including The Mighty Boosh, Little Britain, and Angry Boys for this reason. The BBC and BritBox also removed Little Britain.

The second day of Robert Kirkman’s mini-trial over profits from The Walking Dead started with fireworks over who knew what and when – and not over the millions of dollars the creator of the long-running and highly successful zombie apocalypse series claims AMC swindled out of him and other executive producers.

BBC comedy White Gold first hit our screens in 2017. The show, which tells the story of cockney wide-boy Vincent Swan and his crew of double-glazing salesmen, was an immediate success. White Gold was commissioned for a 2nd season shortly after the first wrapped, and despite fans having to wait over 2 years to see it (more on the reason behind the delay shortly), they’ve clearly not lost their appetite for a dose of 1980’s nostalgia in the meantime. I Feel Bad will not see a second season. NBC has opted to cancel the comedy series, executive produced by Amy Poehler.
The cancellation is not a surprise. The series did not receive additional episodes, wrapping its freshman run with its original 13-episode order. The series failed to get traction with viewers, while also drawing lukewarm reviews, making a second season unlikely.
The family comedy’s fate was partly foreshadowed when NBC recently expanded the order to Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s upcoming sixth season by 6 episodes.
Written by Aseem Batra, the single-camera I Feel Bad, from Uni TV, Paper Kite Prods, CannyLads Prods and 3 Arts, starred Sarayu Blue as Emet, the perfect mom, boss, wife, friend and daughter. Ok, she’s not perfect. In fact, she’s just figuring it out like the rest of us. Sure, she feels bad when she has a sexy dream about someone other than her husband,...

“I Feel Bad” has been canceled at NBC.
The family comedy centered on Sarayu Blue’s Emet, the “perfect mom, boss, wife, friend and daughter” who was not really perfect but in fact actually just figuring things out. She felt bad when she had a sexy dream about someone other than her husband, or when she pretended not to know her kids when they misbehave in public, or when she used her staff to help solve personal problems. The first season focused on her balancing her home and work life, often finding them intersecting.

Amy Poehler, Dave Becky and Josh Maurer also executive produced. “I Feel Bad” was produced by Universal Television, Paper Kite Productions, CannyLads Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment.

“Here’s what every woman knows,” Sarayu Blue says in a voice-over kicking off her new sitcom “I Feel Bad.” “We feel bad about something almost every day.” The show, airing a preview episode Sept. 19 before settling into a Thursday-night timeslot, sets its tone early—it differentiates Blue’s Emet from other sitcom moms by her vulnerable honesty, her willingness to admit that not only is she not omnicompetent, she’s perpetually annoyed with herself for not being so.
The challenges Blue faces don’t go beyond traditional sitcom fare—meddling parents, kids developing minds of their own, balancing marriage and work—all of which it handles with élan and wit. Where the show loses its footing is in its depiction of Blue’s co-workers, video game designers whose outright misogyny the show makes the strange decision to play as comedy.

Hello, and welcome back to our roundup of industry-wide news. From stage to screens big and small, we’ve got you covered. It’s everything you need to know and all you can’t afford to miss. Drama school’s collapse “a disgrace.”The sudden closure of an established drama school due to “financial challenges” has come as a shock to many within the industry. A former patron called it “a disgrace.” Noted as “one of the leading performing arts colleges in the UK”, Cpa Studios has now closed after more than 30 years, with former students including singer Jessie J and The Inbetweeners actor James Buckley. But last week Cpa Studios informed students by email that the school had stopped operating. The staff has been made redundant and all 52 students are now left without a course to return to in September. The email sent out 7 August reported that financial difficulties...

“Abby’s”
From the producers of “The Good Place” comes a hilariously aspirational new comedy about the best bar in San Diego, home to good prices, great company and, of course, Abby. This unlicensed, makeshift bar nestled in her backyard is the opposite of everything annoying about today’s party scene. There are rules at Abby’s: no cell phones (not even to “look something up”), earning a seat at the bar takes time and losing a challenge means drinking a limey, sugary “not-beer” drink. As the oddball cast of regulars will tell you, hanging out at Abby’s is a coveted honor. But once you’re in, you’re family.
The cast includes Natalie Morales, Nelson Franklin, Kimia Behpoornia, Jessica Chaffin, Leonard Ouzts and Neil Flynn.
Josh Malmuth will write and executive produce. Pamela Fryman will direct and executive produce the pilot. Michael Schur and David Miner also executive produce.

Being imperfect is perfectly normal.
That's the main takeaway from the official trailer for NBC's new comedy series, I Feel Bad, which debuts this fall as part of the network's comedy slate on Thursdays.
Per the official logline:
Emet is the perfect mom, boss, wife, friend, and daughter. Ok, she’s not perfect. In fact, she’s just figuring it out like the rest of us.
Sure, she feels bad when she has a sexy dream about someone other than her husband, or when she pretends not to know her kids when they misbehave in public, or when she uses her staff to help solve personal problems.
But that’s Ok, right? Nobody can have it all and do it perfectly.
The cast includes Sarayu Blue, Paul Adelstein, Aisling Bea, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton and James Buckley.
If first impressions are everything, then the NBC promotional department has gone...

“New Amsterdam”
Inspired by Bellevue, the oldest public hospital in America, this unique medical drama follows the brilliant and charming Dr. Max Goodwin, the institution’s newest medical director who sets out to tear up the bureaucracy and provide exceptional care. How can he help? Well, the doctors and staff have heard this before. Not taking “no” for an answer, Dr. Goodwin must disrupt the status quo and prove he will stop at nothing to breathe new life into this understaffed, underfunded and underappreciated hospital — the only one in the world capable of treating Ebola patients, prisoners from Rikers and the President of the United States under one roof — and return it to the glory that put it on the map.
The cast includes Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher and Tyler Labine.
David Schulner will write and executive produce. Kate Dennis will direct and executive produce the pilot. Peter Horton also executive produces. Dr. Eric Manheimer will produce. “New Amsterdam” is produced by Universal Television, Pico Creek Productions and Mount Moriah.

“A.P. Bio” — and two new shows — just made the grade at NBC.
The Glenn Howerton-led series has been picked up for a Season 2 by the Peacock, which is also granting series orders to a pair of comedy pilots from executive producers (and network faves) Michael Schur and Amy Poehler.
Hailing from “The Good Place” producers Schur and David Miner and led by star Natalie Morales, NBC describes “Abby’s” as a hilariously aspirational new comedy about the best bar in San Diego, home to good prices, great company and, of course, Abby. This unlicensed, makeshift bar nestled in her backyard as the opposite of everything annoying about today’s party scene.

Along with lead Morales, the cast includes Nelson Franklin, Kimia Behpoornia, Jessica Chaffin, Leonard Ouzts and Neil Flynn.
Schur and Miner are executive produce along with Josh Malmuth, who penned the script for the multi-cam (shot outside in front of a live audience). Pamela Fryman is directing and also executive producing the pilot. “Abby’s” comes from Universal Television, Fremulon and 3 Arts Entertainment.
The Poheler-produced project, “I Feel Bad,” centers around Emet (Sarayu Blue), the perfect mom, boss, wife, friend and daughter. Ok, according to the logline, she’s not perfect. In fact, she’s just figuring it out like the rest of us. “Bitterness, really” is Paul Kaye’s explanation of what drove his satirical red-carpet interviewer Dennis Pennis in the nineties. “I’d hit thirty, I’d sort of failed as a musician, I’d failed as an artist I felt at the time.” Ambushing Hollywood’s elite in the persona of a brash, punk nuisance wasn’t Kaye’s first choice for stardom, he admits. “It wasn’t how I expected to forge a career. Of all the things I thought I’d end up doing, it wasn’t that.”

“Our heads are sensibly shaped.”
Kryten is inarguably Red Dwarf's most iconic character. The rubbery, angular mask of the mechanoid head is a marvellous design that should probably stifle any actor wearing it, but Robert Llewellyn's performance has only become more impressive over time. In terms of design and personality, he's the character who could scarcely belong to any other show.
Aside from Llewellyn, only a few other actors have donned the mechanoid get-up in previous episodes, but a lot of what we see in Siliconia feels like it's been...

There's some good news for those of you who enjoyed the first three-part series of Zapped last year: it's all set to return next month.

Billed as a sort of "Red Dwarf for the Game Of Thrones generation" - and indeed, the show is also made by Baby Cow, the company behind newer series of Red Dwarf - Zapped stars James Buckley (The Inbetweeners) as office worker Brian, who opens up a package addressed to someone in 'Munty' a fantasy world controlled by a police state, and is transported there after donning the amulet contained within. Even though Netflix has started to cancel its underperforming series in earnest, that doesn’t mean it lacks for programming. In fact, its slate of offerings is fuller than ever, which makes it difficult for viewers to choose when faced with an embarrassment of bingeable riches.
Netflix’s foreign series, however, rarely get promotion amidst all of the other American shows that have been produced. Although IndieWire has previously provided handy lists of foreign-language series a couple of times, including other imports, that is only a hint of all offerings available.

They may not be Americans, but the lads of One Direction once found themselves in trouble with President Donald Trump. Liam Payne stopped by The Graham Norton Show this week and revealed, "One Direction once got thrown out of Trump's hotel!" He recalled the incident, telling the host and guests Salma Hayek, David Walliams, Ed Westwick and James Buckley, "We were were asked to meet Trump's daughter but when we said no because there were so many fans it was unsafe, we were asked to pack our bags and leave!" The singer also opened up about parenthood with Cheryl Cole and their newborn baby boy, Bear. On the topic of being a father, he admitted he hadn't met...

Everyone liked The Inbetweeners, right? Yes, the show had many cringe-worthy, repetitive and outright stupid moments but offered a fair, if heightened take on the burden of adolescence.
Damon Beesley, who co-wrote the series alongside Iain Morris, now branches away from the playground and brings us a slightly darker and sassier story with travelling double-glazing salesman Vincent (Ed Westwick) heading the show. The BBC2 comedy White Gold starts as it means to go on. It’s slick, smart and silly – there is fun to be had here that’s for sure.
It’s Essex, 1983 and here we meet cocksure Vincent, our charismatic and terribly arrogant narrator that gets his claws in from the get go. This obnoxious man is the epitome of a classic salesman; giving us handy tips and breaking the forth wall just to tell us exactly how amazing he is at his job and...

Inbetweeners star James Buckley plays a failing performer in an unfocused tale that falls short on laughs
The casting of Inbetweeners star James Buckley, plus cameos from a host of comic performers and the word “comedian” in the title, leads to certain expectations here. Specifically: laughs. Unfortunately, they are few and far between in this ironic, fourth-wall-breaking tale of a luckless standup with an unfortunate case of panic-induced incontinence. Episodic and unfocused, the film meanders before deploying a highly unconvincing scene of long-awaited comic success.

James Buckley plays real comedian James Mullinger in a British film blending fact and fiction, with comics appearing as themselves. Trouble is, it’s not funny
This British effort about men’s magazine journalist James Mullinger (James Buckley from The Inbetweeners) who wants to be a standup comic at least deserves some credit for daring to make it hard for itself. After all, how does one make a comedy with a protagonist whose defining feature is that he’s not very funny?

Dave’s first original sitcom by Baby Cow Productions sees The Inbetweeners’ James Buckley zapped to a fantasy dimension...
Having brought Red Dwarf out of retirement in 2009 successfully enough to keep it out, Dave has taken another punt on scripted comedy. A cautious punt, you might say, on the basis of short three-part series Zapped.

You can understand the timid approach. Until Yonderland, fantasy sitcom has been a rough business. It’s pricy and niche, at least on TV. BBC Two’s Krod Mandoon And The Flaming Sword Of Fire cost a packet in comparison to most half-hour comedies, and failed to cross over from fantasy fans to a mainstream audience.

James Buckley, Paul Kaye and Sharon Rooney star in Zapped, a new fantasy comedy from Dave...
Back in June, a small gaggle of journalists and I were ensconced for a few hours within the shadowy bowels of Pinewood. We were ushered onto a soundstage between takes, inside a ginormous warehouse-like studio.
We were there to catch a glimpse of Zapped, a new sci-fi/fantasy comedy series that had recently been announced by Dave. With The Inbetweeners/Rock & Chips star James Buckley on board, and a big high concept premise, Zapped sounded like a tailor-made accompaniment to Red Dwarf XI on the UK channel’s autumn slate.
The immediate impression I got was that no space had been wasted whatsoever. Rows of wooden walls stood tall, divvying up the sizeable studio into a variety of sets. A pub, a street and a strange vault were all crammed into the same little corner,...

What do you get if you take the outrageous gross-out comedy of producer Judd Apatow (Trainwreck, Superbad, Knocked Up) and the trio of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, collectively known as comedy pop songsters The Lonely Island? Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping – a faux-documentary which is (and this may sound bombastic) the This is Spinal Tap for the Justin Bieber generation.
The story is the flimsiest of plots: the film goes behind the scenes as former The Style Boyz member (think New Edition meets Beastie Boys) turned solo artist singer/rapper Conner4Real (Samberg) faces a crisis of popularity after his sophomore album flops, leading his entire career into a unrecoverable talispin – leaving his fans,...

Dave's first foray into scripted comedy will soon be upon us. If you've been watching Red Dwarf XI on Thursday nights, you'll likely have seen a trailer for Zapped, a three-part fantasy sitcom produced by Steve Coogan's Baby Cow Productions.
Zapped starts on Thursday the 13th of October, just after Red Dwarf XI episode 3. If you can't wait that long, it's available as a preview now on UKTV Play.
The show stars The Inbetweeners' James Buckley as Brian Weaver, a humble online data marketing assistant who finds himself whisked away to a parallel, magical world.
Here's the first official clip:
It shows Buckley's character arriving in the fantasy realm of Munty and encountering Steg, Barbara and Herman in Herman's pub. Watch to the...
