Kevin Brown has worked in the Canadian film industry since 1981. He has

Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Brown was a well-known promoter of British Columbia's fledgling film and TV industry. He pioneered BC's first city film commission, in Victoria, in 1983. In 1988 he set up the BC chapter of the film technicians' union ACFC (now a local of CEP), which he represented as business agent during its early days. In 1986, as a director of the BC Film Industry Association (now MPPIA), he helped to interest the Canadian government in offering funding for Vancouver's Bridge Studios.
Widely traveled, Brown has lived in or visited twenty-nine countries. He developed his wanderlust early on by traveling at age 17 from the UK to India overland through continental Europe and the Middle East. In 1992 he worked at Studio Koliba in Bratislava, helping the newly post-communist film industry of the Slovak Republic to market its services internationally.
Brown was educated at BC's Simon Fraser University, where he earned an Honours B.A. in European history. He wrote his honours essay in the UK, at the British Library in London.
Professional accreditations include: affiliate, Access Canada Copyright (representing rights to his published works); member, IATSE Local 891 and past Vice President (2004); member, ACFC West; past member of the Directors Guild of Canada; and past member of IATSE Local 818 (Hollywood), the Publicists Guild of America.
Brown has diversified in recent years into writing, broadcasting and designing sets for military applications. He regularly contributes articles to History Scotland Magazine, a journal of Scottish history and heritage published in Edinburgh.
