Having played the Green Goblin over a decade ago in Sony's "Spider-Man" films, Willem Dafoe is switching sides in the comic book universe - jumping onboard Zack Snyder's "Justice League: Part One" film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The film sees the bringing together of various DC heroes hinted at in last month's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will be joined by Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) as the group teams up to combat a major galactic threat.
Chris Terrio wrote the screenplay for "Justice League" which will be released in two parts - the first in November next year and the second in June 2019. Dafoe is playing a good guy in a role that will reportedly see him appear in both parts, but specifics of the character are under wraps.

Editor David Brenner reveals that an initial cut of Batman V Superman weighed in at a startling four hours long...
Nb: The following contains very minor spoilers for Batman V Superman
Whether you agreed with the icy critical reception given to Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice or not, one thing was for sure: you got an awful lot of superhero film for your money. The theatrical cut weighed in at a hefty 2 hours 33 minutes, while this summer's Ultimate Edition home release will break the three hour mark.
In a new interview with Pro Video Coalition, however, editor David Brenner reveals that an early cut of Batman V Superman came to almost four hours in length. Part of the reason, Benner explains, is down to the sheer number of intersecting storylines the movie switches between.

Even before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters, we knew that an extended cut was planned for the home video release. The biggest news at the time was that the longer version would be rated R, as some of what was cut out was violence. We also knew that at least one character (played by Jena Malone) had her story removed entirely. However, it now appears there are many subplots missing, as the editor of the film says the original cut of the film that had everything in it was nearly four hours long. David Brenner was the man with the unenviable task of trying to edit Zack Snyder's movie down to a reasonable length. Pro Video Coalition conducted an interview with the accomplished professional editor who spoke about the difficulty of the job of editing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Between the two heroes, their alter-egos,...

While "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" is still playing in theaters, the picture is fading fast. But there is still much more to come. This summer, the studio will release the R-rated "ultimate cut" in July on home video, with rumors that it will make a theatrical bow as well. That version of Zack Snyder's superhero epic will run a staggering 3 hours long, but it seems there's a whole heap more footage that has been left on the cutting room floor. We've reported, for some time, that Jena Malone was cast as Barbara Gordon in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. We've also discussed the fact that her work was cut from the theatrical version of the film. Since Barbara, daughter of Commissioner Gordon, is known for becoming both Batgirl and eventually Oracle in the books, there's been some question as to how she was actually going to be used in the film.
A film blogger by the name of Al Gorosito is now reporting that it's very impossible that not only was she slated to appear in her Batgirl form in the film, but that she actually was in the movie- hidden in plain sight, right under our noses. One of his readers sent in the following photo, which purports to show Batgirl fighting alongside Ben Affleck's Dark Knight in the Batman V Superman's "Knightmare" sequence:

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was a very divisive movie, but if there’s one thing that everyone can seemingly agree on, it’s that the editing was pretty choppy. The first hour or so of the film felt almost like a clip show as we jumped from one scene to the next, and the release of a bizarre deleted scene indicated that some huge plot points ended up being cut.
That’s something which has now been confirmed by editor David Brenner. During a recent interview, he revealed that the first cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was a massive four hours long. It was eventually cut down to three hours (which we’ll see with the upcoming R-Rated “Ultimate” version), with a two and a half hour movie eventually released into cinemas.
“It was a lot to juggle. So the plot lines of a couple characters had to go.

Talking in a recent interview, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice editor David Brenner has revealed that the original cut of the divisive movie was nearly Four Hours long. Even as someone who enjoyed it, I can't deny that the first hour felt like a clip show of sorts as we jumped from one scene to the next, and it's now clear that Zack Snyder is shooting far too much (something the studio will hopefully put a stop to with Justice League, especially after Batman v Superman underperformed at the box office). While you can't fault the filmmaker's ambition, it's clear that another pass at the script before shooting began to trim the fat would have been beneficial; instead, that was done in the editing process, and...well, the rest is history. "It was a lot to juggle. So the plot lines of a couple characters had to go. These people...

Rating: ★★
Let’s cut to the chase. Batman V Superman is a complete and utter mess. It takes the most exciting of concepts and bungles it on almost every level, culminating in a film that is, if you’ll believe it, worse than Man Of Steel. At the end of the UK press screening there were pockets of cheers from the crowd and I literally could not hold in an exclamation of “Are you f*cking serious?”
Ok, so let’s get the good out of the way first so there’s at least some grounding for all this.
Jeremy Irons is the best thing in the movie, sardonic and sarcastic as an Alfred weary by his ward’s path of self destruction and willing him to settle down (in all meanings of the word). Ben Affleck is fine as Batman, neither the disaster first appreciated nor the defining take the trailers promised.

The first reviews for Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" are in and with forty reviews counted, the film is sitting at 39% and a 5.3/10 on Rotten Tomatoes.
Over on Metacritic, 17 reviews are in with a 48/100. The scale and spectacle has been applauded, and everyone seems to like Wonder Woman, but the script has been an issue and there's difference of opinion over Batman and Luthor. Here's a few examples:
"As a pure visual spectacle, however, Batman v Superman ably blows the hinges off the multiplex doors, and editor David Brenner does excellent work to comprehensibly streamline the chaos, capably captured by d.p. Larry Fong...." Andrew Barker, Variety
"The villain here, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, is so intensely annoying that, very early on, you wish Batman and Superman would just patch up their differences and join forces to put the squirrelly rascal out of his, and our,...

Through the years, comedians have noted how difficult it is to suppress joke thievery. “You have a better chance of stopping a serial killer than a serial thief in comedy,” offered standup comedian David Brenner. Noted comedian Bill Cosby opined, “If we could protect our jokes, I'd be a retired billionaire in Europe somewhere — and what I just said is original.” Renowned Vaudeville and Broadway comedian, W. C. Fields, took a different approach. Reportedly, Fields paid fifty dollars to have a thieving comic’s legs broken. Comedians work hard to refine their crafts, which often results in the

This weekend, comedian David Brenner passed away after a struggle with cancer. He was 78.
Typically, this is not the kind of thing we would cover, but then we found this epic clip of Brenner hosting The Tonight Show, with guests Vincent Price and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The clip comes from 1986, back when Elvira was still rather new on the scene, and Brenner is quite smitten with her. In fact, she leaves him speechless on more than one occasion in this seven minute long clip.
