How best to describe Never Let Go? How about a movie that feels like Paul Greengrass directed Taken, with a kick-ass leading female of T2 Linda Hamilton proportions…
In truth, in my humble opinion Never Let Go is actually way better than those Taken movies. I know, I know, I liked them when they first came out as well, but this movie completely took me by surprise… In the best possible way. Ladies and Gents, Angela Bloody Dixon. Action thriller Never Let Go is now available on demand so we sat down with actress Angela Dixon to discuss her role in the film.
How did you first get into acting?
It all began at a very young age. I had always wanted to be an actor growing up but I didn’t really think that it could be more than a dream. Then, at the age of 16, I played the part of Barbara Allen in ‘Dark of the Moon’ at college and it appeared that I had some talent. At that point it started to become a reality for me. I studied drama at college, University and finally I went to drama school. So all in all I studied drama and acting for 6 years. Although the real learning starts when you are actually on the job.

One of the more mystifying box-office failures of the year has been Danny Boyle‘s Steve Jobs, which dropped over 2,000 of its theaters this weekend and looks to be petering out at under $17 million total. Our review was fairly positive — and we even followed it up with a heated discussion — but a major point of contention has been its final few scenes. Spoilers do follow, of course.
After spending two hours… well, I’ll let our own Nick Newman perfectly sum it up, The Maccabees‘ saccharine “Grew Up At Midnight” blasts into one’s ears and Michael Fassbender‘s Steve Jobs finds a moment of redemption with his daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs (Perla Haney-Jardine), a tenuous relationship Aaron Sorkin sets up in each of the three time periods. While speaking on Jeff Goldsmith‘s (excellent) podcast The Q&A, the screenwriter defended this finale.

Taken as a straight-faced, just-the-facts account of one great man’s amazing achievements, Steve Jobs is a bit daft. For as much as the structure of Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin‘s biopic — divided into three sections, each set backstage right before a product’s announcement (those being the Apple Lisa in 1984, the NeXTcube in 1988, and the iMac in 1998) — is receiving attention, that bit of pre-release hype, like all pre-release hype, should be questioned. To my mind, this is all a reductive bit of enthusiasm: what happens when anyone does anything different with the format, thus saving us from having to (gasp!) sit through “yet another biopic.” The reaction is premature, surely, but none too surprising. There’s a vocal and too-large section of viewers for whom the genre indicates that what they’re seeing — no matter the talent of its creators or the fascination that comes with its subject — is unquestionably an inferior product,...

Fresh off Michael Mann’s cybernetic hacking thriller Blackhat, John Oritz has boarded Danny Boyle’s upcoming Steve Jobs in a supporting role.
According to Deadline, Oritz — whose previous credits include appearances in Silver Linings Playbook and Fast and Furious 6 — will play the part of Joel Pforzheimer, a journalist tasked with interviewing the titular visionary for GQ magazine. No other details of his role nor how prominent it will prove to be were shared at this time.
Oritz now joins a growing ensemble cast for Boyle’s production, one that includes Seth Rogen as Jobs’ partner-in-technological-crime Steve Wozniak, not to mention Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, and Makenzie Moss as Lisa Brennan, the Apple co-founder’s daughter. From what we understand, Brennan’s character will have significant part to play in the final product, with the script orbiting around three of the company’s most high-profile product launches within its illustrious history,...

It hasn’t been the easiest of journeys for Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs film — what with David Fincher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale and even Sony itself bailing on the project during its nascent stages — but now that the project has found a new home at Universal Studios, the wheels have ached into motion.
With filming now underway in San Francisco, fans have flocked to catch a glimpse of Michael Fassbender as the late, great Apple co-founder, resulting in some pretty low-res images making their way online. However, perhaps in a bid to showcase the once-troubled film in its best light, Universal has unveiled an image from the Californian set.

Just yesterday, Universal unveiled a flurry of details relating to Danny Boyle’s upcoming Steve Jobs film, including a comprehensive cast list that was topped off by X-Men Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender as the Apple co-founder.
With filming now underway in San Francisco, eager fans have stalked the production to get a glance of the actors in character, and this has resulted in some blurry, out-of-focus images weaving their way online. Chief among them is a long distance shot of Fassbender as Jobs in what appears to be a small restaurant. You can check out the image below, but fair warning, you’ll be straining your peepers to get a clear view.

Principal shooting has already begun on Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs movie, with production setting up shop in San Francisco earlier this month, and today, Universal confirmed the full list of casting choices set to portray the film’s leading roles.
As previously reported, the title role will be occupied by X-Men: Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender — following Christian Bale’s abrupt departure — opposite Seth Rogen, who is on board to play the integral role of co-founder Steve Wozniak. This core cast will be rounded out by Jeff Daniels’ John Sculley, Avie Tevanian, Sarah Snook and Kate Winslet as a former marketing head.
But as previous reports had indicated, Boyle’s Steve Jobs film will place a heavy emphasis on the impact of the visionary’s first daughter, Lisa Brennan, who will be portrayed by Perla Haney-Jardine, Ripley Sobo, and Makenzie Moss at “various stages” of her life.

After some repeated setbacks in the attempts to find an actor to play the lead role, the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic is seemingly now on a casting role. We've been hearing a number of updates about the project recently, and now word has come down that the movie has targeted and is close to signing its female lead. Variety has gotten word that Kate Winslet is now in negotiations to join the Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama, though the trade doesn't really specify who she will be playing (simply identifying her as the "female lead"). Previous reports have suggested that it's Steve Jobs' daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, who will be at the center of the movie, but having Winslet play that role doesn't make a ton of sense. After all, Winslet is actually two years older than the actor who would be playing her father, Michael Fassbender. It seems much...

Danny Boyle's film of Steve Jobs' life might be adding Natalie Portman to its cast list...
Now that the Steve Jobs biopic has been picked up by another studio, it finally seems as though the film is going ahead.
Most recently Sony Pictures dropped the project after developing it for some time, and it's consequently been picked up by Universal instead. Aaron Sorkin has penned the screenplay, based on Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs, whilst the current frontrunner to play the man himself is Michael Fassbender. It.s now becoming harder and harder to keep track of Aaron Sorkin.s Steve Jobs biopic. Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale have pulled out of playing the titular character and now Aaron Sorkin has teased that the biopic will actually be as much about Steve Jobs. daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, as much as it will revolve around the Apple Icon. Aaron Sorkin had previously revealed that whoever takes the lead role in his Steve Jobs film would star in every single frame, but that now only seems more interesting following recent remarks the writer made during an interview with The Independent. He has revealed that he was actually drawn to writing a film about Steve Jobs because of the entrepreneur.s relationship with his daughter. This was despite the fact that she wasn't interviewed for Walter Isaacson 2011 book, Steve Jobs, which was a big influence on the screenplay.

Despite being loosely based on Walter Isaacson’s authorised biography of legendary entrepreneur Steve Jobs, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has explained that, not only will the upcoming film not be a biopic in the traditional sense, but it will greatly benefit from the insight of Jobs’ own daughter, who declined to be involved in the book. This unconventional structure, coupled with personal oversight from Lisa Brennan-Jobs, suggests the finished project will be a fascinating movie indeed.
Speaking to Collider, Sorkin explained his intention to structure the narrative as three 30 minute scenes that are shot in ‘real time’ – each taking place just before a major product launch. The first will be the Mac, the second will be the NeXT, and the third will be the iPod. These particular products, and the moments of their respective launches, give specific insight into three very different stages of Jobs’ life and career – the Mac made his name,...

Before he passed away, Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs was worried a criminal would kidnap his daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, in order to blackmail him for cash. According to a report from the Daily Mail, Steve disclosed his fears for his daughter he had out of wedlock, in the background check questionnaire he completed to gain top secret security clearance with the government. It's an interesting turn of events after Steve denied paternity to his girlfriend Chris Ann Brennan for the first two years after Lisa was born. The documents revealed that interviewees also commented that, in the past, Steve was not supportive of Chris Ann and their daughter; however, Steve had eventually become more supportive.
