He appraised thousands of antiques on "Antiques Roadshow", mainly
silver items. Many of the items he examined were of little monetary
value, but he would always find complementary things to say, in order
to make the owners feel proud of their prized possessions. In addition
to his television work, he ran an appraisal, auction, and gallery
business in Troy, Michigan for 37 years.
