The Ides of March were marked this year by a three-way race among high profile filmmakers – Peter Farrelly, Doug Liman and Guy Ritchie – with original streaming film and TV series debuts across Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. But the sleeper success story of the week belonged to Netflix’s Lindsay Lohan rom com movie “Irish Wish.”
Ritchie made a splashy debut on March 7 with Netflix’s “The Gentlemen,” an eight-episode TV heist drama delivered in the director’s signature style. In its second week, “Gentlemen” had solid hold with a modest 30% decline to 1.3 billion minutes watched during the March 15-21 frame, according to original streaming content ratings calculated by Luminate.

In Irish Wish, a new Netflix rom-com, a bride-to-be is dumped by her lover on wedding day — but, with steely determination, she quickly closes in on a handsome replacement. Consistent with rom-com protocol, her “Irish wish” is realized.
Going back to When Harry Met Sally…, there’s always been something cozy and likable about the rom-com genre. No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence did well last year as a feature and now is up for a sequel.
And Anyone but You has surprised rom-com experts. Its numbers are impressive – 2.8 billion hashtag views on TikTok and a worldwide box office that has surpassed $200 million. The data reminds some of a throwback to the Bridget Jones cycle.
To be sure, rom-coms have become formulaic, especially the Netflix model. But a case could be made that they now emerge as a positive social resource now.
“The Gen Z-ers need prods of positivity,” observes one psychologist.

Lindsay Lohan’s journey back to the spotlight through Netflix’s rom-com lineup hits a lukewarm note with ‘Irish Wish’, a film that reteams her with ‘Falling for Christmas’ director Janeen Damian. Despite the anticipation surrounding Lohan’s comeback, this St. Patrick’s Day release struggles to sparkle amidst the lush Irish landscapes it showcases. In ‘Irish Wish’, Lohan portrays Maddie, a timid book editor caught in a magical love triangle. The fantasy elements and romantic entanglements aim to enchant but end up feeling like reheated leftovers from better films. ‘Falling for Christmas’, another Damian-directed feature, offered a glimpse of Lohan’s potential in her

Early-aughts teen queen Lindsay Lohan is having a comeback moment, and her latest Netflix romance is here. The “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday” star previously teamed with the streamer on the hit holiday romance “Falling for Christmas.” Now, she’s back — along with director Janeen Damian — for the spring fling, “Irish Wish.”
Lohan stars as book editor Maddie who’s head over heels for the author she works with, Paul (Alexander Vlahos), until he falls in love with her best friend (Elizabeth Tan). Putting her feelings aside, Maddie travels to Ireland for their wedding, where sparks fly with a charismatic photographer (Ed Speleers) until an accidental wish turns her life upside down. She wakes up engaged to Paul and racing toward a walk down the aisle she’s not sure she wants anymore.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride — unless, of course, your best friend gets engaged to the love of your life, you make a spontaneous wish for true love, and then magically wake up as the bride-to-be. That’s the pickle in which Lindsay Lohan finds herself in the upcoming romantic comedy Irish Wish.
Directed by Janeen Damian (Falling for Christmas), produced by Brad Krevoy and Michael Damian, and written by Kirsten Hansen, Irish Wish follows shy book editor Maddie Kelly (Lohan) on a supernatural, romantic journey of self-discovery. “She’s been ghostwriting for the writer she works for and she’s hopelessly in love with him, and she’s expecting him to love her back,” Lohan tells Tudum. But when reciprocation proves elusive, she takes matters into her own hands — only to find that romantic fantasies don’t always hold up to the harsh light of reality.

An Irish coffee is made with whisky and cream. An Irish goodbye is when someone leaves a gathering unnoticed. The Irish stew mixes root vegetables with either lamb or mutton. With her latest Netflix romance, director Janeen Damian aims to add yet another concept to popular notions of Irishness: the Irish wish. Now, will it catch? Unlikely.
The titular wish in Irish Wish is made by Maddie (Lindsay Lohan), an American book editor besotted with Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos), a pompous Irish writer whose latest book became a worldwide success, thanks to Maddie’s uncredited penmanship. Because such love stories rarely go to plan, just as Maddie is about to profess her feelings, Paul locks eyes with the editor’s bubbly childhood best friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan), and sparks fly.

The season of love and romance has gone, and the summer has kicked in in full form. It is time for summer blockbusters to hit the theaters as audiences gear up for holidays and vacations. It does not make sense to release a cliched romantic comedy at this point when no one is interested in watching another story of a man and woman meeting and falling in love. Irish Wish, directed by Janeen Damian, is a Netflix original film that was released on March 15, 2024.
This one-hour and thirty-minute film is about Madeline ‘Maddy’ Kelly, who works as a book editor and is in love with her friend and author Paul Kennedy. Unbeknownst to anyone, Maddy is the ghostwriter who has written, molded, and polished Paul’s latest book, and Paul is the one taking credit for its success.
Maddy couldn’t see anything wrong in this arrangement because of her undying love for him.

Chord Overstreet is embracing the moment with his new Netflix holiday comedy Falling for Christmas, and he’s ready to make audiences laugh again after taking some time away from the acting spotlight.
The actor, best known for playing Sam on the Fox phenomenon Glee, stars opposite Lindsay Lohan in director Janeen Damian’s film about an arrogant hotel heiress (Lohan) who suffers amnesia in a ski accident and finds herself in the care of a lodge owner, played by Overstreet, amid her struggle to recall her former life. The project has been touted as a comeback vehicle for Lohan after a long stretch away from leading roles, but it also serves to reintroduce a wider audience to Overstreet, who has been steadily recording music over the years and is part of the cast of the Apple TV+ comedy series Acapulco.

Falling for Christmas is a rom-com season movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Chord Overstreet. It is directed by Janeen Damian.
The incomparable Lindsay is back! And for Christmas!
Premise
After getting hurt in a skiing accident, a spoiled heiress is taught a lesson of humility and the Christmas spirit.
Movie Review Falling for Christmas (2022)
Are we looking at a Christmas romcom that is formulaic and an easy venture for the production company? If that is what you expect, well then our mission as critics specialized in romcoms (irony), is quite in vain, and we will be reduced to being nothing but entertainment value arbiters.
‘Falling for Christmas’ is an easy movie, to the nth degree, with elements that have used a myriad times and full of clichés in its script, with some good (at times not so good)jokes, and thusly we have a comedy that writes itself. Now, if...

Audiences who click play on Netflix’s “Falling for Christmas” will be the ones doing most of the falling over Lindsay Lohan’s much-anticipated comeback vehicle. Director Janeen Damian’s light-hearted feature, centered on a spoiled hotel heiress tumbling into a character-enriching circumstance, isn’t necessarily served up as the average cup of holiday cheer and rom-com charm. There’s a lot more to it than that. Its subversive spirit, female-forward smarts and sweet sentimentality remix the formulaic and festive, making all things merry and bright.
Wealthy, pampered heiress Sierra Belmont (Lohan) plans to spend a snow-blanketed Christmas at her father’s (Jack Wagner) exclusive ski resort with her narcissistic, social media-obsessed beau, Tad Fairchild (George Young). She anticipates being offered a job by her dad as the property’s “Vice President of Atmosphere” to give her something to do rather than spend her days idly drowning in champagne, caviar and couture.

It’s been a while since Lindsay Lohan did out-and-out comedy, but a little holiday spirit seems to have brought ’round the cheer. In this new trailer for Netflix’s holiday season rom-com Falling For Christmas, Logan is in classic Lindsay form as she plays a spoiled – and engaged – hotel heiress who gets amnesia after falling in a skiing accident.
When she awakens, without a clue as to her identity, she finds herself in the “care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.”
As Logan herself sings “Jingle Bell Rock” during the trailer, viewers can only wonder if she’ll regain her memory, stay in Christmas town with the hunky local or return to her pampered life with a wealthy boyfriend that we can almost be sure is pretty snobby.
What the clip lacks in originality it makes...

Lindsay Lohan is back and singing “Jingle Bell Rock” once more — but it’s not a direct tribute to “Mean Girls.” This time, it’s for her new holiday rom-com, “Falling for Christmas.” In this movie, it’s less “Mean Girls” and more “Overboard.”
In “Falling for Christmas,” set to hit Netflix this November, Lohan plays Sierra Belmont, the self-described “spoiled daughter of the hotel magnate.” But for her part, she really is trying to change that, openly saying that that’s not all she wants to be remembered for. Flash forward, and she’s being proposed to on top of a mountain — a very snowy and windy mountain.

"They're probably out looking for you right now." Netflix has revealed the trailer for a romantic comedy called Falling for Christmas, marking the directorial debut of a producer named Janeen Damian. This looks like a Hallmark channel holiday movie, with a few extra wacky jokes thrown in (that racoon bit at the end what?!?!). A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress falls into a freak skiing accident, and awakens with total amnesia. She finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas. This features a script that almost feels like was specifically written for Lindsay Lohan, playing up the "you have to forgot about someone fancy and famous to rediscover them" angle quite a damn bit. But it does look somewhat amusing. In addition to Lohan, cast also includes Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, Olivia Perez, Alejandra Flores,...

Lindsay Lohan is back, and her first Netflix rom-com looks like a winner.
Netflix on Friday dropped the official trailer for Falling for Christmas.
“Happy holidays, everyone! Christmas has come early this year, and I come bearing gifts,” the actress says at the top of the clip before the trailer gets underway.
"A newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia, and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas," the logline reads.
The trailer looks like a lot of fun, showcasing Lohan and Overstreet as two people who may or may not fall in love.
Lohan described the movie as “extravagant, temperamental [and] glamorous,” in an interview Netflix’s Tudum.
The star believes Falling For Christmas “is such a refreshing, heartwarming romantic comedy.”
She adds, “Christmas is a time when family comes together.

Lindsay Lohan will make her return to lead roles this year after being absent from the marquee for nearly a decade, starring in the Netflix original holiday movie Falling for Christmas.
In Netflix’s Falling for Christmas, Lindsay Lohan “plays hotel heiress Sierra, whose new engagement goes off the rails when she gets into a skiing accident that leaves her with total amnesia. Luckily, Sierra finds herself in the care of a blue-collar widower (Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter (Olivia Perez) in the days leading up to Christmas.”
Lohan has been planning her comeback for some time now, first revealing she would be doing a Christmas movie with Netflix last year. When it was announced earlier this year that Lindsay Lohan actually signed a two-picture deal with the streaming giant, it was a clear indicator that she was ready to reemerge onscreen. The trailer for Falling for Christmas is due out later this week.

In “Falling for Christmas,” Lohan will play a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.
Janeen Damian (“A Christmas Waltz”) is directing “Falling for Christmas,” and Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett and Ron Oliver wrote the screenplay.
“We’re so happy with our collaboration with Lindsay to date, and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with her.

Lindsay Lohan is returning to the movies and will star in a holiday-themed romantic comedy that is set at Netflix, the streamer announced Monday.
Lohan will star in the untitled film as a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who suffers amnesia in a skiing accident and finds herself being cared for by a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter, according to the film’s logline released on Twitter.
No other cast has been set for the film.
The Lohan film is just one of many movies that are part of Netflix’s litany of holiday films, including movies such as “Jingle Jangle” or “A Christmas Prince.” However, the film is not expected to begin production until November of this year, so the film isn’t expected for release until later.
Janeen Damian (“A Christmas Waltz”) will direct the untitled film, and Michael Damian, Jeff Bonnett and Ron Oliver wrote the screenplay.

Lindsay Lohan, who has largely foregone acting in recent years, will soon star in a yet-to-be-titled Netflix holiday rom-com. The streamer has made a robust business out of Christmas fare, and its original movies such as “Jingle Jangle,” “A Christmas Prince,” “The Christmas Chronicles” and “The Princess Switch” (inspired by Lohan’s “The Parent Trap”) have become instant (and repeatable) holiday classics.
In this new movie, Lohan will play a “newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress” (according to the logline), who gets amnesia after a skiing accident and “finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.” The rest of the cast has not yet been announced.
Lohan skyrocketed to fame as an 11-year-old actor, starring in a 1998 reboot of “The Parent Trap.” She followed that with a remake of “Freaky Friday” and “Mean Girls;” both roles cemented...
