Pulp fiction enthusiast Sarah Berry unearths a pack of dirty vintage paperback covers. I’ve always had a love for the old and the forgotten. These yellowed pages, too often tossed aside and sold en masse at estate sales, make adults blush and balk at the camp and bawdy stuff their parents used to read. These…

With Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake now out in cinema it seems a fine time for the sequel to Raimi’s original cult classic to be given the Blu-ray treatment. The film is actually a remake. More money and fewer production problems result a much scarier, camp follow-up that some may say even surpasses the original.
Bruce Campbell’s Ash is a legendary cult character and this sequel is the reason why. The comedic elements implanted in Ash are far more apparent here, played to emanate much more evidently than before. They’ve managed to improve on the aspects of the first by amping it up to eleven, thanks partly to a much bigger budget. As everything is set up for moments of horror, Ash is locked-and-loaded to fight back against the Deadites attacking the cabin; chainsaw in one hand, shotgun on the other. Groovy!

Many fans of 'The Evil Dead' franchise will tell you that '2' is better than the first film but I would like to think in this way: 'Evil Dead 2' is its own entity and the first 'Evil Dead' is its own as well. Comparing one film in this franchise with another whether it be the first, the second, or even the third and you won't find one that is similar to the other, as they are all unique films and fun ones at that.
Now with that being said, I love 'Evil Dead 2' and think of it as what comic book people would call an 'Earth 2' version of the classic cabin in the woods story and it's a very fun and very silly film that both splits my sides and grosses me out all the while keeping me entertained.

Brandon Peters has returned! Leading up to the April 5th release date of the new Evil Dead remake, Mr. Peters will be doing his voodoo with the Evil Dead series. He continues with a look at Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn. As only a casual Evil Dead fan, this was an extra-special treat as this isn’t a film series that I’ve memorized by heart. This was as informative for me as I hope it will be for you. So without further ado… Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn 1987 Director: Sam Raimi Starring: Bruce Campbell, Sarah Berry, Dan Hicks, Kassie Wesley, Ted Raimi Rated R We just cut up our girlfriend with a chainsaw. Does that sound “fine”? ~Ash’s mirror image The second installment of the Evil Dead trilogy is the bridge between the first film and Army of Darkness in terms of tone. Whereas the first...

For all our MoreHorror readers recovering from the tryptophan induced stupor we call Thanksgiving, boy do we have a treat for you. What better way to celebrate the recent release of the Evil Dead II: 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray than to talk to the man behind the special effects and some of the most amazing visuals in horror movie history: the legendary Greg Nicotero.
If you've seen little productions like Day of the Dead, In the Mouth of Madness, From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Scream, The Cell, Masters of Horror, The Mist and most recently The Walking Dead than you are very familiar with his enormous body of work. I was fortunate enough to chat with the man who literally changed the face of horror before he had to run off to celebrate turkey day.

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:
Happy Feet Two - Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Pink
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 - Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
Movie of the Week
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1
The Stars: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
The Plot: The Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses different threats to the wolf pack and vampire coven.
The Buzz: The only drawback to having to choose a movie of the week becomes apparent on weeks such as this one, wherein I have absolutely zero interest in any of the new releases. First of all, I hated what I saw of the first Happy Feet, and the trailer for Happy Feet Two advertises a film which looks to be about as bearable as swallowing a glass full of shards of glass. And so, the...
