A year ago, Legendary Entertainment’s remake of the infamous 1978 box office hit Faces of Death (get it Here) went into production in Louisiana, with Barbie Ferreira of the HBO series Euphoria, Dacre Montgomery of Netflix’s Stranger Things, Josie Totah of the recent Saved by the Bell revival, Jermaine Fowler of The Blackening, and singer Charli Xcx making up the cast. We haven’t heard a release date for this one yet, but it did just take a major step forward: it has gotten its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. They have announced that the Faces of Death remake has received an R rating for strong bloody violence and gore, sexual content, nudity, language and drug use.

Exclusive: Deadline has learned that Sorry to Bother You‘s Jermaine Fowler has been cast in Legendary Entertainment’s redo of 1978 horror movie, Faces of Death.
Fowler joins Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah and Charli Xcx, who are on sent down in Louisiana on the Daniel Goldhaber-directed movie.
Legendary’s version of the pic is co-written by Isa Mazzei and Goldhaber.
The original film from filmmaker John Alan Schwartz was an early example of viral videos. Although it was staged and fictional, many thought it was real and it often was rented under the counter by older brothers at video shops. The film advertised itself as “Banned in 52 Countries,” though that was simple hype.
Mazzei and Goldhaber’s version brings the original movie’s videos into the digital age.

Exclusive: La production outfit takes rights to Iraq war story.
Fledgling La-based film and TV production outfit Benattar/Thomas Productions, headed by UK executive Nigel Thomas (Killing Bono) and Us producer Rick Benattar (Ironclad), has bought rights to Iraq war book Sniper One.
The producers are aiming to move the film into production in 2016.
Written by former British soldier Sgt. Dan Mills, the account tells the true story of a British sniper unit sent into Iraq only to find themselves engaged in a full scale combat operation against overwhelming odds.
The men were besieged for six months, vastly outnumbered and with little help of rescue.
The book was brought to Benattar/Thomas by Tom Hopper, best known for his role as Billy Bones in Black Sails, who recently starred in the Benattar/Thomas feature The Fixer, which just wrapped principal photography in Ireland.
Hopper will serve as co-producer on the project as will Dan Mills.

Vampires continue to be all the rage. Sort of surprising considering how few films about them make any money at the box office. But here's a movie that has a pretty interesting premise. But will it make a good movie? I suppose we'll find out in the future.
Deadline is reporting that Reel Steel producer Rick Benattar is working with an upstart production and financing company called Cascade FilmWorks to finance a live-action adaptation of successful indie webcomic Last Blood. Published online beginning in 2006, Last Blood has accumulated 20 million readers worldwide, according to the Deadline article. It's set in a post-apocalyptic world where vampires battle zombie hordes to preserve their fresh blood depots.
The flick is slated to be helmed by Simon Hunter (Martin Chronicles) and production begins this fall. No word on casting as of yet, but we'll keep a close eye on this project. At the very lest,...

Warner Bros. have just sent us this new fantastic gallery of images from their new movie. Ironclad. We were lucky enough to interview James Purfoy for the movie yesterday and that should be going up on the site in the coming days.
Ironclad is out in the UK on March 4th; it is a bloody medieval action film starring Brian Cox (Bourne Supremacy), Paul Giamatti (Barney’s Version and Shoot Em Up), James Purefoy (Resident Evil), Mackenzie Crook (Pirates), Charles Dance (Gosford Park), Jason Flemyng (Kick Ass and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) and Iron Man 2’s Kate Mara to name a couple.
Synopsis: Travelling back to the dark, brutal past of 13-century England, Ironclad plunges us headlong into one of the most violent, pivotal moments in English medieval history – when a few good men fought against insurmountable odds to defend their country from a megalomaniac, blood-drunk king.

Ironclad recounts one of the most violent, pivotal moments in English medieval history – when a few good men fought against insurmountable odds to defend their country from a megalomaniac, blood-drunk king. Torn from the pages of history, the devastating battle for the castle of Rochester is a true story of honour, action and excitement. There will be blood.
The year is 1215. King John (Paul Giamatti) has been forced to sign the Magna Carta, a document that will ensure the freedom of men and form the basis of common law in England. Furious at having been forced to sign it, King John raises...

Sneak Peek "Ironclad", the upcoming UK/Us feature, directed by Jonathan English.
Written by English and Erick Kastel, based on a screenplay by Stephen McDool, cast includes Paul Giamatti as 'King John', James Purefoy as 'Marshall', Mackenzie Crook as 'Mark', Jason Flemying as 'Beckett', Derek Jacobi as 'Cornhill' and Kate Mara as 'Lady Isabel', chronicling the siege of 'Rochester Castle' by King John in the year 1215.
Principal photography for the feature started at Dragon International Film Studios near the village Llanharan in Wales, October 9, 2009.
A replica of Rochester Castle was built on the studio complex, with producer Rick Benattar looking to make the film as historically accurate as possible, by "...letting viewers experience the battle as if they were there", meaning in your face mayhem and decapitations.
"Ironclad" is noted as the largest independent production lensed in Wales, produced on a budget of $25 million.

This is a big Comic-Con for Paul Giamatti, who will be in San Diego promoting producer David Fincher's "The Goon" as well as the upcoming Jonathan English flick "Ironclad." MTV already brought you the exclusive teaser for "The Goon," and now we have an exclusive sneak peak at the footage that will be shown tonight at the "Ironclad" panel.
The film follows the siege of Rochester castle by King John in the year 1215, with Giamatti playing the king. It's described as a "medieval 'Magnificent Seven' that combines the visceral action of '300' with the impassioned heroism and romance of 'Braveheart,'" which can be seen to some extent in the clip. The first part of the clip shows Giamatti threatening the castle, and then it switches to the siege of the castle -- and a new hairstyle for King John.
