Elizabeth Beckwith grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, the youngest of four
children. When she was sixteen years old she began performing stand-up
comedy at many local Vegas bars and cafes. After graduating from Loyola
Marymount University, Elizabeth got her first big break when she was
chosen as one of the "new faces" for the Just For Laughs Montreal
International Comedy Festival (1998). Shortly thereafter she was
featured in the Time magazine piece, "Funny: The Next Generation," and
later in Variety's Ten Comics to Watch series.
Author of the popular and critically praised satirical parenting book,
Raising The Perfect Child Through Guilt and Manipulation
(HarperCollins, 2009), Elizabeth has made many appearances on
television as an actress and a comedian on shows such as Curb Your
Enthusiasm and The Late, Late Show. She has written comedy pilots for
FBC and USA. Her work has also been read in The Huffington Post,
Psychology Today, and The Believer (her popular Believer piece was
chosen for inclusion in the Random House book, Care To Make Love in
That Gross Little Space Between Cars alongside work by Zach
Galifianakis and Judd Apatow).
