Wide-eyed, brunette silent star, with Essanay in Chicago from 1912. She married
Francis X. Bushman, often co-starring in his films. Regarded as Hollywood's first romantic screen couple, Bayne and Bushman moved to Metro (1916-18), where they made some of their most popular films. Following a public divorce in 1924, Bayne's career faltered and she retired from films a year later, though continuing to appear on stage until the 1950s.
