One of the most beloved and long-running British Sci-Fi TV shows may be setting up the return of a fan-favorite character in a spin-off series on Disney+.
This has been the plan from the start, that Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor Who production era will feature multiple spin-off series and movies.
The newest Doctor Who era has Ncuti Gatwa taking the reigns as the pivotal character in the show, aka Doctor Who, and bringing a new, fresh take.
This is what makes the Doctor Who universe last as long as it has, as every couple of years, the Doctor and other characters on the show will get a revamp with new actors. This also means that older stories and plots can be revisited with new ideas and even newer and sometimes old faces.

Supernatural star Mark Sheppard has had another brush with death after his sixth severe heart attack. The actor had to be resuscitated four times after he collapsed in his kitchen.
Famous for his portrayal of the demon/King of Hell on Supernatural, Sheppard, 59, expressed gratitude to his wife, Sarah Louise Fudge, for saving his life, as well as the medical staff who cared for him.
In an Instagram post, Mark shared a selfie from his hospital bed, which showed multiple heart monitor devices attached to his chest. He still managed a slight smile.
His caption read, “You’re not going to believe this!”
He continued, “Was on my way to an appointment yesterday when I collapsed in my kitchen. Six massive heart attacks later, and being brought back from dead 4 times, I apparently had a 100% blockage in my Lad.”
He admitted that his recovery was not expected.

The actors strike is over, and news has emerged that a biopic of Elon Musk, directed by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, is in the works. The movie from A24 is to be based on Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Musk.
So the guessing game is on: Who would best capture the essence of the mercurial, meme-loving tech mogul on the big screen?
It won’t surprise you to learn that the internet has already chewed over this question. In a recent Reddit thread, commenters’ top-voted casting picks for Musk were: Nicolas Cage, Rami Malek, Robert Downey Jr. and Jesse Eisenberg (the last being a troll’s pick: Eisenberg starred as Musk rival Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network”).
Other suggestions from sundry corners of the web have included Brendan Fraser (who incidentally starred in Aronofsky’s “The Whale”); Matt LeBlanc of “Friends” fame; Scottish-American actor John Barrowman; Kevin Durand; and Matthew Broderick.

There truly has never been a better time to be a Doctor Who fan.
Not only do we have the three long-awaited 60th anniversary episodes mere weeks away (even if we are still waiting on an official release date beyond “November!”), we’re then getting the return of the Doctor Who festive special with a brand-new Doctor and companion on the way in Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson, not to mention the shiny new series 14 launching some time in 2024.

The Entire Doctor Who Back Catalogue Is Coming To BBC iPlayer!
From 1st November, BBC iPlayer will host over 800 episodes of Doctor Who, including all the classic series from the very first Doctor, William Hartnell, right the way through to the 1996 TV movie with Paul McGann.

Ah, Ready Steady Cook – you were a product of simpler times. The BBC’s teatime TV cooking show saw two contestants bring along a bag of ingredients, team up with a celebrity chef, (becoming Team Green Pepper and Team Red Tomato) and spend 20 minutes transforming what they’d brought into a tasty dinner.
They only had a maximum budget of £5 (which these days would probably only stretch to half a cucumber and a pot noodle) so the dishes weren’t fancy – none of this nonsense about serving some daft gravy-with-notions and calling it a ‘jus’. No, the likes of Ainsley Harriott or Anthony Worrall Thompson usually just hastily assembled a lasagne, and then the audience voted for a winner – and by ‘vote’, we mean they lifted up a picture of a green pepper or a red tomato.
It was sweet, harmless daytime TV, so when they decided to introduce a celebrity version,...

Jonathan Groff is the latest cast member announced to be joining Doctor Who series 14 in an as-yet undisclosed mysterious “key role”, the BBC has announced.
Groff is best known to children the world over as the voice of Kristoff in Disney’s Frozen films, and to Broadway audiences as King George III from the original cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s mega-hit musical Hamilton.
That makes him the third big American Broadway star making his debut in the new Doctor Who episodes, following Neil Patrick Harris’ villainous role in the forthcoming 60th anniversary specials, and the recent announcement that Chicago the stage musical and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Jinkx Monsoon had joined the cast of series fourteen.
Could that much-discussed all-singing, all-dancing episode finally be on the way? The official press release accompanying the casting announcement doesn’t exactly quash the rumours with its choice of headline: “Doctor Who Hits Another...

It's a great (and somewhat confusing) time to be a Whovian. Although Ncuti Gatwa has been announced as the next Doctor, and Millie Gibson's been announced as the next companion, these are not the main characters we'll be following as we head into the 60th Anniversary Specials. Instead, those three special episodes will be focused on the return of the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant), who is now technically the Fourteenth Doctor too. There's also the return of Donna Noble to look out for, as well as the return of the old showrunner Russell T. Davies, who ran the revival show from seasons 1 through 4.
The one thing we know for sure is that, when those specials are over, we will get a regular season with Gatwa and Gibson. With Davies sticking around as showrunner, you'd think it'd be safe to say that most of the returning characters would be from those early seasons.

Warning: Contains major spoilers for Doctor Who ‘The Power of the Doctor’
News is emerging that the owners of Durdle Door aren’t too happy about their historic landmark being the scene of the thirteenth Doctor’s regeneration in Doctor Who.
Over four million of us tuned in on Sunday night to watch Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor shockingly regenerate into David Tennant in the climax of her final episode, ‘The Power of the Doctor’. It was one of the most anticipated TV moments of the year, and – judging from the reactions on Twitter – the Whovians went wild, essentially becoming the personification of the ‘screaming, crying, throwing up’ meme.
Although many fans were possibly so beside themselves about Tennant’s return that they barely registered where the scene was filmed, this particularly scenic regeneration took place on top of the famous Durdle Door arch near Lulworth in Dorset. However, the owners...

Actor Kevin Spacey began his testimony in his sexual assault lawsuit in New York on Monday and gave on-record responses to the accusations outlined against him by fellow actor Anthony Rapp.
Rapp accuses Spacey of touching him inappropriately in a Manhattan party when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26, and is seeking 40 million in damages.
Spacey is accused of inviting the young actor to a private room, when he then lifted up Rapp “like a groom carrying a bride over the threshold,” and then laid him on a bed and climbed on top of him. Rapp also said in his testimony that he quickly squirmed out and left the apartment.
Spacey called this accusation “not true.”
In his version of the story, he encountered Rapp and actor John Barrowman after a play Spacey appeared in, Long Days Journey Into Night. He claimed he invited the two of them to dinner, a nightclub and his studio,...

Kevin Spacey remained composed Tuesday during cross-examination at a civil trial, repeatedly rejecting suggestions that he wasn’t telling the truth when he denied an actor’s claims that he made a sexual advance on him when he was 14 in the 1980s.
His testimony for several hours on cross-examination by a lawyer for actor Anthony Rapp, 50, went smoothly enough that Spacey’s lawyer did not ask any questions after the examination was completed by early afternoon. Rapp testified earlier in the trial, now in its third week. He is seeking 40 million in damages.
Addressing Rapp’s lawyer as “sir,” Spacey didn’t seem rattled a day after he emotionally testified that he regretted following the advice of his handlers to be “friendly and cordial” in responding to Rapp’s claims in 2017 that Spacey picked him up and briefly laid on top of him...

Updated with latest: Test results from a psychologist who diagnosed actor Anthony Rapp with post-traumatic stress disorder are so inconsistent they are “unusable,” a psychiatrist hired by actor Kevin Spacey’s defense team testified Tuesday.
After Spacey finished testifying in Rapp’s 40 million sexual misconduct suit against him, Alexander Bardey, the psychiatrist, said that Rapp’s self-reported trauma symptoms were “off the charts” in one set of tests given by his legal team’s mental health expert, Lisa Rocchio, but nonexistent or moderate in other tests Rocchio gave to weed out people who fake mental illness.
Bardey said that Rapp, in the so-called “face value” tests Rocchio gave that essentially take the subject at their word, reported such “high levels of everything” they appeared to be exaggerated. Those results did not jibe with the results of other, more rigorous tests Rapp took that screen for “malingering,” or feigned symptoms for some personal gain,...

Kevin Spacey finished testifying on Tuesday in the 40 million sexual misconduct lawsuit brought against the “House of Cards” star by Anthony Rapp. The Oscar-winning actor was cross-examined by Rapp’s attorney Richard Steigman, and remained calm, smirking at points, as he was grilled about his drug use and memories of encountering Rapp in 1986 when they were both appearing in stage productions. Rapp was 14 and starring in “Precious Sons”; Spacey was on Broadway in the Jack Lemmon-led revival of “Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”
The conversation was meandering — Spacey continued to deny Rapp’s claims that he tried to seduce the then-teenager — and at one point even touched upon a key sequence in “American Beauty” in which Spacey’s character Lester Burnham masturbates to an image of his daughter’s best friend bedecked with rose petals while lying in an oversized tub.
“It was a fantasy scene,” Spacey clarified.

Kevin Spacey spoke about his “complicated” family upbringing while on the stand at his ongoing sexual abuse trial in New York.
The former House of Cards actor revealed that his father, Thomas Fowler, was “a white supremacist and a neo-Nazi”.
Spacey alleged that his father’s bigotry made him feel “shame” about his sexuality, leading him to become private about his personal life. In his testimony, Spacey’s accuser Anthony Rapp had said that Spacey was a fraud for not being openly gay.
“To call someone a fraud is to say someone is living a lie,” Spacey said. “I wasn’t living a lie. I was just reluctant to talk about my personal life.”
Rapp is seeking 40m (£35.2m) in damages against Spacey, who he alleges made a sexual advance on him in his apartment in the 1980s when he was 14 years old.
A judge dismissed Monday one of the legal claims against Spacey.

Kevin Spacey became visibly distraught in a New York City courtroom on Monday afternoon, breaking down as he blamed his publicist for convincing him to publicly apologize to Anthony Rapp in 2017 after the “Star Trek: Discovery” actor accused him of sexual misconduct.
“I was being encouraged to apologize and I’ve learned a lesson, which is never apologize for something that you didn’t do,” Spacey said. “I regret my entire statement.”
Spacey then choked up and began to cry, as he said, “It’s my responsibility. I put it out there. It was really wrong. It was really bad and I’m deeply sorry. I have to own that.”
Rapp made his allegations in a BuzzFeed article as Hollywood was engulfed in one sexual harassment or abuse scandal after another, with moguls, media players and stars like Harvey Weinstein, Charlie Rose, Louis C.K., Matt Lauer and others accused of misdeeds.

Kevin Spacey took the stand Monday before a New York jury and flatly denied making a sexual pass at Anthony Rapp when the “Rent” actor was 14 – then went on to detail how his upbringing at the hands of a “white supremacist and neo-Nazi father” prevented him from coming out as gay.
Earlier in the day, Spacey won a partial dismissal of the case against him when U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan threw out Rapp’s claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress. The judge ruled those claims duplicated Rapp’s assault and battery claim, which now stands as the only remaining accusation in his 40 million civil lawsuit against Spacey.

Update, 9:59 Am: Over a week after Kevin Spacey’s trial for sexual misconduct started in a New York courtroom, the Oscar winner took the stand this morning in his own defense.
Having succeeded in having the intentional infliction of emotional distress claim stripped from Anthony Rapp’s 40 million case earlier Monday, a confident sounding Spacey began his testimony denying that he groped or was in any way inappropriate with the Star Trek: Discovery actor back in 1986 when Rapp was 14-years-old and the former House of Cards star was in his mid-20s. Spacey also refuted similar allegations from the Reagan Era from former New York public film coordinator Andre Holzman.
In what is a clear tactic to rewrite the narrative, the much accused 63-year-old Spacey began his stint on the stand in Judge Lewis A. Kaplan’s federal courtroom by going heavily autobiographical.

Updated with latest: To paraphrase the old Blondie song, Kevin Spacey’s lawyers today tried to rip Anthony Rapp to shreds.
Picking up on the core of her opening statement last week in the 40 million civil trial, Spacey attorney Jennifer Keller’s cross-examination repeatedly targeted apparent inconsistencies and vague elements of the Star Trek Discovery actor’s recollection of the events in and around Spacey’s NYC apartment in 1986.
And she clearly rattled Rapp to some degree, with Spacey sitting just a few feet away. And Judge Lewis A. Kaplan didn’t offer the plaintiff witness much solace as Keller hammered away at him.

Sarah Jane Smith, played by the late, great Elisabeth Sladen, was the most important companion in Doctor Who’s history. She played the companion character alongside Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker’s Doctors from 1973 to 1976 and was so successful in the part that she single-handedly made a case for equal billing for the companion character 30 years before it actually happened in the 2005 season.
Looking back, she had such a profound impact on the show and became such a popular character that there was virtually a rejection of other characters in favor of Sarah, leading to the creation of her own spin-off series. But who was Sarah Jane Smith, and how has she evolved in Doctor Who?

Time’s Up U.K. has issued a statement regarding actor John Barrowman’s appearance on a British talk show, in which he claimed that repeatedly exposing his penis on set and in interviews “absolutely is not” sexual harassment.
There have been multiple reports of Barrowman, who has appeared in shows including “Doctor Who” and “Torchwood,” exposing himself publicly for over a decade. On Tuesday, the Scottish-born American actor appeared on ITV’s “Lorraine” to discuss the incidents, which he admitted to, albeit with various caveats.
“The assertion by John Barrowman that his well-documented actions do not constitute sexual harassment reveals yet again the need for the entertainment industry to underline and reassert expected standards of behaviour of which this is wholly unacceptable,” a spokesperson for Time’s Up U.K. told Variety. “Flashing people Is sexual harassment and it is never funny.”

Russell T Davies revived “Doctor Who” in 2005 and helped make the decades-long sci-fi franchise a phenomenon again. He departed the show in 2010 after four seasons and a few specials spanning the ninth (Christopher Eccleston) and 10th (David Tennant) Doctors’ tenures. But now he’s coming back to the show full-time following Chris Chibnall, who’s stepping down from the show after its upcoming 13th season and three subsequent specials to air in 2022. But what can we expect from Davies’s return to the show? Well, I have a few suggestions.
1. Keep diversity at the forefront
The time-traveling Time Lord at the heart of the show changes form to accommodate new actors, showrunners, and storylines, but it took more than five decades for the Doctor to be anything other than a white man. Jodie Whittaker broke that glass ceiling when she assumed the role in 2018. But Whittaker is leaving the show...

The Noel Clarke- and Ashley Walters-led drama “Bulletproof” has been canceled by U.K. broadcaster Sky following accusations of misconduct made against Clarke by several women last month.
“Sky will not be proceeding with any further series of Bulletproof,” a spokesperson for Sky said in a statement to TheWrap Friday.
The show was in pre-production on its fourth season when accusations were first leveled against Clarke last month, and Sky halted their relationship with the actor. An individual with knowledge tells TheWrap Sky tried to figure out how “Bulletproof” could proceed without star Clarke, but ultimately could not find a creative decision that would allow for them to move forward with the series.
On April 29, The Guardian published a story including accounts rom 20 women who accused the “Bulletproof” actor of sexual harassment, unwanted groping, inappropriate comments made on set, sharing explicit photos and videos without consent and bullying.

Embattled British star Noel Clarke has been accused of misbehavior of the sets of BBC’s flagship show “Doctor Who” — the program that helped turn him into a household name in the U.K.
“Several sources came forward to allege they were sexually harassed or inappropriately touched by the actor on a flagship show, ‘Doctor Who,'” U.K. newspaper The Guardian reported on Friday.
Clarke played the vehicle technician character Mickey Smith on “Doctor Who” from 2005 to 2010.
The Guardian published an explosive story on April 29, in which several women came forward and accused Clarke of inappropriate behavior, following which he lost his management and the BAFTA he was awarded a few weeks earlier. ITV, the BBC and Sky severed professional ties with him. Clarke has denied the charges vehemently.

The Noel Clarke fallout continues, with the Guardian reporting today that the actor has now been accused of sexual harassment by several women on the set of BBC flagship show Doctor Who.
Clarke acted in the series as vehicle technician Mickey Smith from 2005 to 2010. The incidents detailed in the latest report range from inappropriate touching and sexual comments on set to aggressive and bullying behavior after his advances were spurned. Clarke continues to strenuously deny all allegations of sexual misconduct or criminal wrongdoing, including from the new article via his lawyers, but has said he will seek professional help for his behavior.
The latest Guardian exposé – which comes after the broadsheet broke the original story last week highlighting allegations of misconduct against Clarke from more than 20 women – also implicates fellow Doctor Who actor John Barrowman, who allegedly exposed himself to co-workers on two BBC productions.

Actor John Barrowman, who portrayed Captain Jack Harkness on Torchwood, has set off a Twitter frenzy with a post depicting a visit to a show landmark in Cardiff, Wales.
Barrowman posted a selfie in front of a shrine to the show’s Ianto Jones, who was Capt. Jack’s lover on the show and tragically died in his arms in a mini-series episode, Children of Earth.
On Friday, Barrowman paid an incognito visit to the impromptu shrine set up to honor the Ianto character in Cardiff, a site near where the series was filmed. The shrine is still very popular with fans 11 years after the television series death.
Torchwood, a Doctor Who spin-off that aired on BBC America in the states, was an investigative unit based in Cardiff that battled extra-terrestrial threats. It ended its run in 2011.

Doctor Who returned for a one-off special this New Year’s Day and, while there was a lot of fun to be had from the inclusion of John Barrowman’s Captain Jack and a Dalek civil war, “Revolution of the Daleks” ended on a heartbreaking note as not one, but two of the Thirteenth Doctor’s best friends left the show. As we knew going into the episode, both Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) exited the Tardis, breaking up the Time Lord’s so-called “fam” that has been at the heart of the series since 2018.
Though they weren’t killed, pulled into a parallel universe or had their memories wiped like some of the most devastating companion exits of the past, fans got pretty teary by the time the credits were rolling. The most hyped part of the Doctor Who New Year’s special, “Revolution of the Daleks,” was the return of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness for the first time on screen since Torchwood ended in 2011. Whovians have always been campaigning for a revival of the adult-themed spinoff show, but so far nothing has materialized. The open ended way Jack is written out of the special, though, seems to suggest that some kind of revival or reboot could be on the cards.
Oddly enough, Jack and the Doctor don’t say goodbye on camera, following the defeat of the Daleks, with the Time Agent instead sending a quick voice message to the Time Lord in the Tardis at the end of the episode. “Sorry, lost track of time,” he tells her over the phone. “Gwen Cooper sends her love, by the way – says she took out a Dalek with a...

The world’s had a heck of a time of it since the Doctor was last on our screens. In the season 12 finale – which aired on March 1st, 2020 – Jodie Whittaker’s Time Lord was thrown in space prison by the Judoon. And later that same month, we were all imprisoned ourselves as the Covid-19 pandemic took hold and plunged the world into quarantine. But in the Doctor Who New Year’s special, our heroine escapes her bonds. Unfortunately, we’re not quite out of the woods yet ourselves, but “Revolution of the Daleks” still provided a much needed home visit from the Doctor.

Doctor Who returns for its latest festive special this New Year’s Day, and it promises to be an unmissable instalment based on whatever metric you judge it by. There are iconic monsters involved, a legendary guest star is back and it’ll mark the final appearance of not just one but two regular cast members. And this last point is why filming on the special, titled “Revolution of the Daleks,” proved to be so emotional for star Jodie Whittaker.
Following the episode, Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole will no longer be aboard the Tardis as Graham O’Brien and Ryan Sinclair. The pair have been part of the series since its last relaunch in 2018, so Whittaker – who’s never shot an episode without them, or co-star Mandip Gill, up to this point – found it tough to say goodbye when production wrapped on this special way back in October 2019.

Instead, consider this as very much a taster – a broader appraisal of the tone of the episode, how seriously you should be planning your New Year’s Day around watching it, and obviously which nibbles are best to accompany your viewing – a...

Something that Doctor Who fans thought would never happen actually came to pass recently, as Christopher Eccleston returned to play the Ninth Doctor in a new audio drama series. And it sounds like it’s gone well so far, too.
Eccleston appeared on the latest episode of The Big Finish Podcast this week and revealed that he “really enjoyed” playing the Ninth Doctor again and reconnecting with the character after a decade and a half.

The only downside is that he didn’t share any scenes with Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor. This holiday season, though, that’ll be rectified, as Jack is back again for the New Year’s special, “Revolution of the Daleks.”
Following on from the season 12 finale, this outing will see the Time Lord locked away in space prison, meaning Jack will have to pick up the slack back on Earth, with the help of companions Yaz (Mandip Gill), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh), when the Daleks appear on the scene again. Doctor Who is losing two companions following the holiday-themed special.
Radio Times is reporting that Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole are bowing out of the series as Graham and Ryan.
The upcoming "Revolution of the Daleks" Christmas special will mark their final episode with the series.
“It is very, very dramatic,” Walsh said of his departure.
“It is very sad. It is quite sad and… ‘poignant’ is the word. You can expect a lot of poignancy from the episode," he added.
“[It was] emotional!” added Cole. “I was looking forward to having a rest though!”
Jodie Whittaker will remain as the Time Lord during the 13th season of the cult hit, alongside Mandip Gill's Yaz.
Further casting is expected to be announced closer to the debut of the new season.
“I hope that it feels like a good send-off for those two characters, whatever happens to them,” series showrunner Chris Chibnall explained to the outlet.

The duo have appeared in every installment of the Thirteenth Doctor’s era alongside Whittaker and Mandip Gill, but the pair are bowing out of their roles as Ryan Sinclair and Graham O’Brien in the upcoming holiday special, “Revolution of the Daleks.”
The outing – which was shot last year along with season 12 – was tough for Jodie, with the actress revealing in a new interview that she had to be carried back to her trailer after filming because she was so overcome with emotion.
“Without going into any specifics about anything to do with character or what happens – just purely knowing it was the last scenes with myself and those actors – both of them had to carry me to my trailer,” she said. “I’ve not cried like...

Whether it was Christopher Eccleston’s 9th Doctor or David Tennant’s 10th, whenever Captain Jack Harkness was on screen, the chemistry was off the charts. Now, fans can barely contain their excitement for his return during this year’s Doctor Who Holiday Special episode, and next to Jodie Whittaker’s first female Doctor, no less.
Whovians know Jack as an individual with certain tendencies that The Doctor usually rebukes. But the established dynamic between Tennant and John Barrowman will definitely undergo a lot of changes when the latter appears in front of Thirteen. The actor first reprised Jack in season 12’s “Fugitive of the Judoon,” though that was basically showrunner Chris Chibnall’s way of teasing the fandom to the brink of exhaustion.
Now, after forgoing the penultimate episode and the finale, Barrowman will be back during the Holiday Special episode, “Revolution of the Daleks.” Speaking with Entertainment Weekly in a new interview,...

The “fam” will be torn apart in the incoming Doctor Who festive special, as two of the show’s main cast members are leaving. Every episode of the past two seasons has featured Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor alongside her best pals Yaz Khan (Mandip Gill), Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh), but things are about to change as Cole and Walsh are exiting the Tardis in the New Year’s Day episode, “Revolution of the Daleks.”
This has been long rumored, but was only just officially confirmed last week. And now, the stars have opened up about their “emotional” exit from the sci-fi series and teased what we can expect from the special.
“It is very, very dramatic. It is very sad. It is quite sad and poignant is the word,” Walsh said. “You can expect a lot of poignancy from the episode.”

It’s been confirmed that Doctor Who is saying goodbye to two of its companions – Tosin Cole’s Ryan Sinclair and Bradley Walsh’s Graham O’Brien – both of whom will leave the show in New Year’s Day special ‘Revolution of the Daleks.’
Though not as dramatic as the announcement of a new Doctor, the departure of a companion always signals a shift into a new era for Doctor Who. It heralds a change in dynamic, a change in story arc and the potential for the Doctor to show a new side. Sad as it can be, it means renewal, a theme that runs through the heart of the snow.
Along with almost everything in pop-culture these days, giving the brand-new Doctor no fewer than three full-time companions was something of a divisive choice. The merits and drawbacks of the decision, from showrunner Chris Chibnall, to surround the Doctor with...
