No matter what they tell you, Christmastime is the best time. It’s the deep breath on the last page of the calendar; the chance to take stock of the year that was and appreciate that we’re halfway through the darkest days of winter, hopefully surrounded by beloved family and friends.
But you know what would make it one better? If it was family, friends, and a fictional character of our choosing each year! Imagine for just one magical evening every December, Doc Brown rolled up in a DeLorean to sample Christmas cookies? Or what if it’s Han Solo or Princess Leia who is asking you to pass the gravy and potatoes? You just know Chewbacca would be all-in on a game of pulling the Christmas crackers. So with that in mind, we asked our staff to think of who they’d like to party with come Christmas Day.

The new film directed by Jules Katanyag, titled The Oskars Fantasy, is one of the most absurd movies I’ve seen recently. Starring Filipino actors Paolo Contis and Joross Gamboa, the film revolves around a movie crew that finds itself getting eaten alive by monsters from the netherworld. The plotline might sound like this is a horror film, but it’s an out-and-out absurd comedy. Two men team up together and try to make a film, hoping that it will win them an Academy Award. On the way, they encounter actual monsters that were supposed to have been generated by visual effects. Paolo Contis plays producer Bobby B, who quits his job working for a tycoon and dealing with his unbearable son. He finds an ally in Direk Dmz who brings a once-in-a-lifetime script to him. Fantasies take over, and they visit Dmz’s grandma’s village to start shooting,...

When "Game of Thrones" first premiered over a decade ago, it was widely praised for its morally ambiguous characters, and a world without clear distinction between right and wrong, just a choice between lesser of two evils. Yet for the most part, "what you see is what you get" still applied to most characters. Despicable characters behaved despicably, honorable ones acted honorably (to a certain extent), and jerks with a heart of gold were still jerks.
But that's not Paddy Considine's Viserys I. The grandson of Old King Jaehaerys I, and the fifth Targaryen to sit on the Iron Throne, Viserys is unlike any ruler we've seen in this franchise before. The "House of the Dragon" patriarch constantly acts like the most unlikable idiot with no sense of decency, and is a frustratingly stubborn man with zero charisma and seemingly no opinions of his own. As a father, he...

Bobby Brown hits back against unnamed detractors on “Like Bobby,” his first new song since 2012.
“Like Bobby” starts out sounding like an early 2000s hit from the rapper Mystikal, full of growly energy that morphs to take into account modern pop trends. When Brown rap-sings over a brassy trap beat, he sounds defiant: “Everybody gonna talk about it, talk about it/ And I don’t really give a fuck about it, fuck about it/ ‘Cause in the end I gotta be real like Bobby B.”
