Several months ago reports reached us that Joe Carnahan’s follow up to his appropriately silly and bombastic big screen rendition of The A-Team was to be a survival drama entitled The Grey and that Carnahan was reuniting with Liam Neeson to bring this story to the screen.
We knew that the film, written by Carnahan and Ian Jeffers, was to centre around a team of oil drillers whose plane crash lands in the Alaskan wilderness where wolves await, now we have a few more details.
Deadline have a new report today, with quotes from Carnahan and some choice comments from visitors to the site about wolves and wolf-related topics, as well as an updated cast list which sees Dallas Roberts, James Badge Dale, Dermot Mulroney, Nonso Anozie, Frank Grillo and Joe Anderson joining Neeson as ‘oil-rig roughnecks’.
So far, so Man Vs. Nature/Frozen starring the cast of Armageddon...

Movie blogs like this one run so many stories about gossip, rumor and early attachments, it's nice to finally write one about that all important green light. A "green light" is the term for when financiers and filmmakers agree on a budget, script, cast and finally give the go-ahead to begin production. And in the realm of movies we report on, it doesn't always happen. We're happy to report that though it took about a year [1], and we reported on it in the casting phase [2], The Grey, co-written and directed by Joe Carnahan, starring Liam Neeson, Dallas Roberts, James Badge Dale, Dermot Mulroney, Frank Grillo, Nonso Anozie, and Joe Anderson, has just gotten that all important green light. It's about a group of oil-rig workers who crash and find themselves stranded on the Alaskan tundra in the presence of a group of deadly wolves. Sounds kind of like Armageddon meets Frozen.
