Quentin Tarantino is going back to his roots.
The iconic filmmaker teams up again with “Pulp Fiction” co-screenwriter and fellow former Video Archives coworker Roger Avary to discuss the classic collection of cult films. The duo met back in 1983 when working at the famed video rental store in Manhattan Beach, California. The long-closed shop housed close to 8,000 VHS tapes and DVDs, which Tarantino purchased in 1995, the same year he and Avary won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for “Pulp Fiction.”
Now, in “The Video Archives Podcast,” Tarantino and Avary rewatch the original tapes from the Video Archives collection, featuring movies like “Dark Star,” “Moon Raker,” “Demonoid,” “Messenger of Death,” and “Piranha.” The podcast launches July 19 and is produced by SiriusXM subsidiary Stitcher.

Pals Quentin Tarantino And Roger Avary Launching ‘The Video Archives Podcast’ On SiriusXM’s Stitcher
Quentin Tarantino And Roger Avary are going back to their South Bay roots. The duo, who first met and bonded while working together at the fabled Video Archives movie rental store in Manhattan Beach, California, are launching a podcast this summer based on the long-closed store’s collection of close to 8,000 VHS tapes and DVDs, which Tarantino now owns.
Tarantino and Avary, who won the Best Original Screenplay Oscar in 1995 for Pulp Fiction, said in a joint statement, “We never imagined that 30 years after we worked together behind the counter at Video Archives, we would be together again doing the exact same thing we did back then: talking passionately about movies on VHS.”
You can listen to an audio trailer below.
Tarantino and Avary promise to parse everything from “controversial James Bond films to surprising exploitation flicks” in order to “expose listeners to movies they didn’t know they’d love,...

Oscar-winning creative partners Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary are sharing their treasure trove of film knowledge in a new podcast called “The Video Archives Podcast.”
Set to launch in July, the project will see the “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs” co-writers revisiting the lesser-known films they would recommend to customers while working at the Video Archives movie rental store in Manhattan Beach, California, nearly 40 years ago.
Each episode will include a rewatch discussion of those titles, taken from the actual VHS tapes that Tarantino obtained in 1995 and used to recreate the Video Archives store in his home.

Thanks to Vanity Fair and photographer Annie Leibovitz, we have a bunch of new really cool photos from director J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Many of these photos were taken on the set of the film while shooting, and a few of them are actual shots from the movie.
The photos confirm the return of The Knights of Ren, show a wicked cool Lightsaber battle between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo (Adam Driver), and even feature the return of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in what looks to be a flashback scene. We also get our best look yet at the character Keri Russell will be playing, Zorri Bliss.
You can check out all of the photos below that include several other characters from the film, and each of them come along with notes.
The movie will be released on December 20th, 2019, and I can’t help but be excited.

Paul Thomas Anderson served as his own cinematographer on the “Phantom Thread,” which meant he collaborated closely with – and relied upon – his long-time gaffer Michael Bauman and camera/steadicam operator Colin Anderson more than on his previous seven films. Anderson has been reluctant to take the director of photography title – having given Bauman a lighting cameraman credit, a nod to the credit Stanley Kubrick gave John Alcott on “Barry Lyndon” – and views the film’s photography as having been a collaboration, with him being the final decision-maker.
In talking to Anderson’s collaborators, it’s clear there is a duality, or maybe more specifically a contradiction, to the way he works. He’s a filmmaker who knows exactly what he wants in terms of lighting, the cinematic style and look of his films, but he needs to see it before knowing what it is that he wants. It’s a...

Any new Paul Thomas Anderson film is guaranteed to create excitement, but “Phantom Thread” has generated more buzz than usual for two reasons: The drama marks a reunion between Anderson and Daniel Day-Lewis ten years after “There Will Be Blood” and the movie finds the director serving as his own cinematographer on a feature film for the first time. The latter point has been a topic of discussion ever since the movie began production in February without a cinematographer credit on its creative roster. Sources told IndieWire at the time that Anderson had been toying with the idea of working as his own cinematographer for years, but that’s not exactly how the director sees it.

Over the last couple of months fans have been treated to some friendly hijinks between Zack Snyder and J.J. Abrams for their films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Star Wars: Episode VII. It all started when Snyder posted an image of Henry Cavill as a Sith Lord, Abrams fired back with C-3Po as the Dark Knight, we then got an image of Batman with R2-D2, followed by The Gotham City Police arresting a Stormtrooper. The last one came from Abrams sticking a Batmobile on the bottom of the Millennium Falcon.
In a recent interview, Ben Affleck revealed how all of this awesomeness we've been enjoying got started. This is what he told Yahoo:
“I think it was started because Jj [Abrams] and Colin Anderson, who is a great [camera] operator who always works on my movies, and Jj is always trying to steal, and I’m trying to steal back,...

It all began with a picture of Henry Cavill (Superman) draped in a Jedi robe, sporting a lightsaber...or did it? Over the past few months, both Zack Snyder and J.J Abrams have been posting picture/video homages to each other's currently shooting movies. The latest was actually our first officially released set vid of the Millennium Falcon, revealing a a built-in mini Batmobile! We all hope this little back-and-forth continues, but how did it start? In an interview with Yahoo! , Ben Affleck (Bruce Wayne/Batman) spills all. “I think it was started because Jj [Abrams] and Colin Anderson, who is a great [camera] operator who always works on my movies, and Jj is always trying to steal, and I’m trying to steal back, sent me a picture of the two of them wearing cheap Batman masks. I showed it to Zack [Snyder], and said ‘this is bullshit, we have to do something'.
