Love contractually? That’s the setup at the heart of “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” — a new cross-cultural rom-com starring Lily James and Shazad Latif that Shout! Factory released the trailer for Wednesday.
It’s also the name documentary filmmaker Zoe (James) chooses for her project following childhood friend and neighbor Kaz (Latif) on his journey to an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage. Zoe is a cynic who’s had no luck with dating apps; Kaz is optimistic that his marriage to Maymouna (Sajal Aly) will follow in his parents’ good example.
The trailer opens with a look at the neighborly rapport Zoe and her mother Cath (Emma Thompson) enjoy with their next-door neighbors. While she keeps coming up short swiping for Mr. Right, Shazad drops the news of his prospective marriage, introducing two different perspectives on the issue: “What about love?” versus “You grow to love the person you’re with.

2018 has continued to see the role of women on screen change significantly and for audiences to confront current social issues to help get the conversation on these started. In Zero, Aanand L Rai confronts the issues of dwarfism and through powerful performances from Shah Rukh Khan, Anuskha Sharma and Katrina Kaif delivers a well-rounded look at this issue from all perspectives. Being the big end of year film cinemagoers have come to love from years of Yrf and Dharma productions, it needs music directors who are both upcoming talents but also popular. Having completed albums for Dhadak and Thugs of Hindostan this year, Ajay-Atul certainly fit the bill, bringing a seven-song album with the usual Bollywood mixture of emotions.

At the time of Dusheera we remember the women in our lives and think about how they are devoted to love and family like Sita or how they are strong and independent like Durga. Bollywood films released at this time of year (and even more so this year) look to develop the strong women character but as is done in Namaste England, also explore what the male’s position is in this new age of neo-feminism. Baadshah, Mannan Shaah and Rishi Rich have been brought together to give a rousing soundtrack to this tale of love, marriage and support.
A relationship is always a balance between the need for each other and the distance that is required so people can individually achieve what they want. In this first song, Tere Liye, Atif Aslam screams out a power ballad backed only by synth drums and acoustic guitar about how the boy...

Batti Gul Meter Chalu, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, is an intense story revolving around a legal battle to win back respect for a lost friend. The drama stars the exciting jodi of Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor who are known for their fastidious work for any film they agree to do. Audiences have come to expect both a strong story and some fantastic dance moves from their films so there is no surprise then that excitement abounds for this film. The soundtrack too must give both Shahid and Shraddha a chance to show off their talents. Also, the music needs to be tempered to give the dialogue the best chance to flourish but not lose the escapism all Bollywood watchers come to watch these movies for. This job is given to Anu Malik and Rochak Kohli, one a seasoned hand in this type of album, the other a younger...

Varun Dhawan’s career has had a lot of laughs and dances with films like Judwaa 2 and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania being amongst fan favourites. However, his 2018 releases seem to be taking a shift toward more serious and heartfelt stories. October, is one of those movies. Releasing the 13th April, the romantic drama is directed by Shoojit Sircar, written by Juhi Chaturvedi and starring alongside Varun, Banita Sandhu and Gitanjali Rao in the lead roles. We imagine that knowing a hint of the story that the music for this film is likely to be tender and really aim to toy with the audiences’ heartstrings. This responsibility has been handed to Shantanu Moitra, Abhishek Arora and Anupam Roy all experienced in the art of the love song.

This Valentine’s fall in love again with the latest romantic number ‘Sanu Ek Pal’ from Raid. Originally sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the song is recreated by composer Tanishk Bagchi, penned by Manoj Muntashir and sung by none other than Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Interestingly, the song was earlier selected for Tseries other home production, however, when Ajay Devgn heard the recreated song, he insisted that it should be a part of Raid. Bhushan Kumar, hence decided to include this timeless melody in Raid.
The song beautifully captures the love and emotion Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’cruz’s characters. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sings with such feeling it just makes you sigh and swoon!
The golden trio of Nusrat Fateh Ali khan, Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’cruz which gave us the hit song ‘Mere Rashke Qamar’ last year is yet again here to make the audiences swoon over their music.

Milan’s films always have sequences involving horses, like the iconic horse race in Once upon a time in Mumbaai. The director is a passionate horse lover, rider and racing enthusiast.
For his upcoming film Baadshaho, Milan came up with a unique sequence, which he executed himself. Shooting in the land of polo, Rajasthan, Milan and writer Rajat Aroraa designed a sequence that sees Ajay Devgn, throw caution to the winds when he accepts a dare and walk across a polo field with a polo game in full flow during the song Mere Rashke Qamar which features Ileana D’Cruz and him.
Polo is the second fastest game in the world, after ice hockey. And more difficult to shoot in because animals come into play and hence two professional polo teams were hired and the sequence was shot at Jodhpur polo ground. Milan himself mounted one of the horses while...

Lightning, they say, never strikes the same place again. But Arijit Singh's career has been struck by lightning twice, originating from the same place. Pakistan. While his song 'Jag Ghoomiya' in Sultan was re-rendered by Ustad Rahat Ali Khan, his new track for the film A Flying Jatt has now been dubbed in the voice of Atif Aslam. While the people close to the development including composers Sachin-Jigar maintain the news is a hoax, sources close to Arijit Singh reveal that Bollywood's finest singer today has indeed been dubbed and snubbed again. A very talented filmmaker-musician wonders what was the need to replace Arijit. "He has such an amazing voice! And he exercises such great control over the seven musical notes. Unusual for today's singer to be so deeply trained in Hindustani classical music. I can understand a singer as great as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan being brought in place of Arijit.
