Was mugged by three men on his way home from a theater rehearsal in 1973, and severely stabbed. When he returned to the streets, he always carried a gun. He made no secret of it to anyone, except his probation officer.
Was first arrested in September 1972, after both stabbing and being stabbed by a man in a traffic altercation in Brooklyn. He pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and was sentenced to five years probation.
Living somewhere in rural Franklin Township in northern New Jersey.
Relocated to Newark, New Jersey after his second release from a federal prison in October 2003 where he and his wife lived for over seven years. He worked as an electronics repairman and briefly changed his name to 'Ted Barnes.' His wife Loretta also briefly changed her name to Joyce Maier.
