As noted in the first of these two final episodes, "aloha" is a Hawaiian word meaning hello and goodbye.
So what feeling did the aloha from Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 19 and Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 20 give off?
Sadly, it was the latter, as Magnum and company said goodbye to their loyal viewers after five seasons.
And yet viewers' hope for another revival still floated in the Honolulu air.
Magnum P.I., debuting in 2018, was the last of Peter M. Lenkov's trilogy of reboot series, following the powerful Hawaii Five-0 in 2010 (which aired for a decade) and the less successful McGyver in 2016 (which ran for five seasons).
Magnum faced a stricter path right from the start. I mean, Magnum without the iconic mustache? What were they thinking?
But now, five seasons later, it's impossible to conceive of a bushy 'stache covering up any of Jay Hernandez's handsome face.
But the...

The late Jimmy Buffett is being fondly remembered by those he worked with in two TV acting gigs, on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 reboot and then on CBS’ Blue Bloods.

Imagine a future without violence, without disease, without much in the way of fear or worry. Now imagine that the future can only exist if people give up almost everything that makes life worth living. That's what happened in Marco Brambilla's 1993 science fiction action flick "Demolition Man," which stars Sylvester Stallone as John Spartan, a cop they call the Demolition Man because of his penchant for causing serious collateral damage, who ends up in a cryo-prison after an arrest goes horribly wrong. When Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes), a super-criminal from the 20th century, is defrosted and escapes his parole hearing, the future cops thaw Spartan to try and bring him to justice. Spartan and Phoenix both come from an anarchic, violent time, and neither can fit into the sterile "utopia" they find themselves in.

R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned is a Western directed by Paul Leyden, starring Jeffrey Donovan and Penelope Mitchell.
A blend of the wild west with a more mystical supernatural dimension.
Premise
When Sheriff Roy Pulsipher finds himself in the afterlife, he joins a special police force and returns to Earth to save humanity from the undead.
R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned About the Movie
A rather banal production that might have an audience. It is difficult to foresee.
Bordering the B movie category, this is a feature that will neither be remembered nor leave a mark. The characters are unconvincing, the gimmicks are bad, but at the same time it is harmless entertainment.
Enjoy.
Sequel of R.I.P.D. (2013)
Director: Robert Schwentke
Writers: Peter M. Lenkov,David Dobkin,Phil Hay
Cast: Jeff Bridges,Ryan Reynolds,Kevin Bacon
Plot: A recently slain cop joins a team of undead...

Nine years ago, Universal released a supernatural action comedy called R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department, which didn’t do much at the box office despite starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Made on a budget somewhere in the 150 million range, R.I.P.D. only earned 78.3 million worldwide. It was considered a bomb… but that hasn’t stopped Universal from making a direct-to-video sequel. Made completely under the radar, the sequel is called R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned – and it has already been screened for the ratings board at the Motion Picture Association, earning a PG-13 rating for “sequences of violence, language, disturbing images and some crude/sexual references“.
According to IMDb, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned was directed by Paul Leyden (Chick Fight) from a screenplay he wrote with Andrew Klein. Since the film was made in secrecy, a plot...

Forty-nine days after CBS surprisingly axed “Magnum P.I.,” NBC signed a lease agreement for Thomas Magnum’s shiny, red Ferrari. Ok, so, the Comcast-owned broadcast network is actually getting the whole show under a two-year, 20-episode deal — but it’s a pretty cool car.
NBC’s iteration of “Magnum P.I.” is expected to begin production this fall and air in 2023, a person with knowledge of the plans told IndieWire. If that feels like a fast turnaround, it’s got nothing on the Le Mans-like speed with which the salvation talks began. Discussions about NBC picking up the show began “immediately” after CBS’ cancellation, the person told us, citing the “pretty loud” fan outcry and subsequent media coverage of the grass roots campaigning as two material reasons the show was saved.
“Magnum P.I.” is a reboot of “Magnum, P.I.,” which starred Tom Selleck, his mustache, and a 1984 Ferrari 308 Gts Quattrovalvole.

The case of Magnum P.I. has closed on CBS, leaving the creative minds and the cast of the reboot series feeling bittersweet about its cancellation.
Amid a slew of cancellations and renewals heading into next week’s upfront presentation, CBS revealed that it will not renew Magnum P.I., starring Jay Hernandez, for a fifth season. Additional CBS titles no longer moving forward are B Positive, United States of All, How We Roll and Good Sam. Shortly after the news broke, co-creator Peter Lenkov took to social media to react and respond to Magnum fans’ questions .
“[It] was my dream come true rebooting it,” Lenkov tweeted in response to one fan who hopes he and Hernandez can continue to collaborate down the road.
“Grateful it even happened…getting a reboot to click is a hard…and this one did. Lucky for that,” he responded to another fan tweet, who condemned the network’s “terrible decision.

TVLine already schooled MacGyver fans on what Season 6 would have looked like with its final showrunner, Monica Macer, at the helm. But now we have been given a peek at how Season 5 might have ended under the CBS procedural’s original boss — and how it set up a major time jump for Season 6.
Peter M. Lenkov, who also sired CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. reboots, lorded over the network’s MacGyver redo for the first four seasons. (CBS ended its relationship with Lenkov in July 2020, following an investigation into claims that the producer created an unhealthy work environment.

While CBS has been renewing and canceling series for weeks now, the future for MacGyver never seemed to be in question.
Until now.
The network made the stunning decision Wednesday night, according to Deadline, meaning that the upcoming MacGyver Season 5 finale will serve as its series finale.
“All of us at CBS are extremely grateful for the incredible work and dedication from Lucas and the rest of the cast, as well as Monica, the writers and the entire crew,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment, in a statement to Deadline.
“The MacGyver team traveled far and wide to repeatedly save the world with little more than bubble gum and a paper clip and made this show distinctly their own."
"We’re gratified we get to give this dedicated and loyal fan base the opportunity to say goodbye to their favorite characters in the thoughtful manner this series deserves.”

Out of nowhere — and almost a year to the day that the episode in question aired — a burning question of sorts from Hawaii Five-0‘s final season has been answered.

When Pauley Perrette left NCIS behind in 2018, fans were confused.
The show was a roaring success, and Abby Sciuto was one of the most recognizable characters on all of TV.
The actress later came forward about her time on the show, and how behind-the-scenes incidents ultimately forced her to quit.
Now, with CBS parting ways with MacGyver showrunner Peter M. Lenkov, Perrette has taken to Twitter to recall her issues on fellow CBS drama NCIS, as well as to point out that nothing has really changed on her former show.
"I’ve known about his abuse a long time. Some words were Exactly what I and So Many went to CBS Hr about That Other Guy’S abuse for over a decade y’all Still support him on my old show," she tweeted, before adding:
"Oh, yeah #MoneyOverMorals as usual."

One of Lucas Till‘s MacGyver colleagues is sending the actor a virtual hug after he took a very public stand against their embattled former boss.
Meredith Eaton, who plays Matilda “Matty” Webber on the CBS procedural, tweeted a photo late Monday of her and Till’s characters sharing a warm embrace. The gesture came just hours after Vanity Fair published an explosive story about fired showrunner Peter M. Lenkov in which Till — who plays the titular role — alleged that he endured numerous instances of verbal abuse, bullying, and body-shaming while working alongside the EP.

When CBS fired MacGyver showrunner Peter M. Lenkov, there were a lot of unanswered questions.
Now, series star, Lucas Till, is opening up about the EP's "unacceptable" behavior for the first time.
The actor chatted with Vanity Fair and detailed several instances of verbal abuse, bullying, and body-shaming while leading the cast of the successful CBS drama, which was under the rule of Lenkov.
"I’ve never worked this hard in my life, and I am fine with hard work,” Till told the outlet, expounding as follows:
“But the way Peter treats people is just unacceptable. I was suicidal that first year on the show, because of the way he made me feel. But the way he’s treated the people around me — that’s just my breaking point.”
It sure sounds like a horrible environment to work.

MacGyver star Lucas Till says in a new interview that the toxic on-set environment created by former executive producer Peter M. Lenkov drove the actor to the “breaking point,” and that the first year on the show left Till feeling “suicidal.”
In a new Vanity Fair report, Till says he was subjected to bullying, verbal abuse and body-shaming by Lenkov, who was fired by CBS Television Studios earlier this month following an investigation into a complaint about a toxic environment on MacGyver.
“I’ve never worked this hard in my life, and I am fine with hard work,” Till tells Vanity Fair’s Maureen Ryan. “But the way Peter treats people is just unacceptable. CBS has fired prolific producer Peter M. Lenkov, whose current shows include MacGyver and Magnum P.I., following an investigation into claims that the showrunner created a toxic work environment, according to THR.
“Peter Lenkov is no longer the executive producer overseeing MacGyver and Magnum P.I., and the studio has ended its relationship with him,” a CBS TV Studios spokesperson tells TVLine in a statement. “Monica Macer will be the showrunner on MacGyver and Eric Guggenheim will run Magnum P.I. Both are currently executive producers on their respective series.

Peter Lenkov’s relationship with CBS has been terminated due to accusations the producer and showrunner created a toxic work environment on his sets, Variety has confirmed.
Lenkov developed and was the showrunner on the CBS revivals of “Magnum P.I.” and “MacGyver,” but has now been fired from those shows. In addition, his overall deal with CBS Television Studios has been ended. Lenkov was previously the showrunner on the CBS revival of “Hawaii Five-o,” which ended earlier this year.

CBS’ action crime drama Magnum P.I., starring Jay Hernandez, is targeting a mid-August tentative production start date for its upcoming third season, I have learned. The reboot of the classic CBS series films in Hawaii where the show is set.
While a spike in coronavirus infections throughout the continental U.S. is raising doubts about production restart plans in Covid-19 hot spots like California and Georgia, and New York’s slow reopening timeline would likely not allow for filming to begin before September, Hawaii and Vancouver have emerged as appealing alternatives.
Both the state of Hawaii and the British Columbia province imposed strict measures, including travel restrictions and 14-day self- quarantine for anyone flying in from the outside, which have kept the outbreak in check. Both areas have been posting single-digit to teen new cases a day recently and rarely new deaths.
Hawaii has the lowest rate of infection and death of any U.

It's been one week since we waved goodbye to Hawaii Five-0, and more details are creeping out about the series finale of the CBS drama.
It turns out, a scene from Hawaii Five-0 Season 7 Episode 1 was originally supposed to conclude the series.
The cool scene found McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) in the hospital's chapel, and crossing paths with la CGI recreation of the late actor Jack Lord.
Lord portrayed the original McGarrett on the original Hawaii Five-0.
But why was the scene not saved for the series finale?
Hawaii Five-0 showrunner Peter M. Lenkov has revealed the reason for the scene not being saved is that he realized the show was not ending soon following the sixth season.
"I actually wrote the scene very differently,” he explained to TV Line.
"The end of the show was McGarrett sitting on a bench, and this older man sits down next to him."

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but the originally envisioned closing scene for Hawaii Five-0‘s series finale actually aired back in September 2016.
The sequence in question instead wound up opening the CBS drama’s Season 7 premiere, where a recently injured Steve McGarrett wheeled himself into the chapel at Tripler Army Medical Center. Sitting alongside the pews, McGarrett struck up a conversation with a stranger nearby, whom he later learned had also been a cop in Hawaii.

In the fall of 2010, Peter M. Lenkov took a big gamble, re-envisioning a well-remembered police procedural from the past for new generations.
It was a bet that paid off big time as Hawaii Five-0 said "Aloha" after 10 seasons on Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 22.
Reboots are a tricky business as creators are messing with viewers' sense of nostalgia.
Five-0 is undoubtedly the most successful reboot. Other top-notch efforts include One Day at a Time, Battlestar Galactica, Charmed, Roswell, Dynasty, and Lost in Space.
Consigned to the scraphead of history are such messes as Charlie's Angels and Bionic Woman.
Lenkov, previously known as executive producer of CSI: New York and 24, made all the right moves with this reboot.
He kept the gorgeous scenery of Hawaii as the backdrop for exciting action sequences.
He kept the iconic theme song, one of the two best themes in TV history.

Hawaii Five-0 showrunner Peter M. Lenkov says he often planned out his season finales as if they might need to end the series as well, the TV business being unpredictable as it is. “I thought we had a chance of maybe going another season — every season, I thought for some reason the show would end — but I think the network just thought it was a good time” to wrap things up, Lenkov shared during an in-depth conversation with TVLine.

It's the end of an era.
Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 22 serves as the series finale of the iconic CBS series, and while many fans may not be ready to say goodbye, it looks like the series is going out in style.
Appropriately titled "Aloha," the milestone episode finds Danny worse for wear after being abducted and left for dead.
Would CBS really allow the series to conclude with Danny dying? It would be quite the twist, but this is the series finale.
What we do know is that recurring cast members James Marsters (Victor Hesse), William Sadler (John McGarrett), and Mark Dacascos (Wo Fat) return during the goodbye episode.
Many fans have been worried that the series will not get a conclusive goodbye because of how late the decision to end the series came.
But it's hard to imagine a 10-year-old series wrapping without a big farewell planned.
Here's the official press release from CBS.

Hawaii Five-0, the popular Friday night crime drama, will conclude its successful 10-season run with a two-hour series finale, Friday, April 3 on CBS.
The drama, a reimagining of Leonard Freeman’s classic series, Hawaii Five-o, has been an excellent performer throughout the past decade, both domestically and internationally, where it has been seen in more than 200 countries.
“It’s never easy to say goodbye to a hit franchise that carried on the legacy of the original with such distinction, while establishing its own signature style,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment.
“From episode one, Hawaii Five-0 has been a huge success for us. Thanks to the amazing talents of the producers, writers, cast and crew, it has played a key role for a decade on our schedule and helped establish our powerhouse Friday night."
"We cannot be prouder of its quality and longevity and are thankful for the passionate fan devotion it inspired.
