- Mehboob Khan was born on September 9, 1907 in Bilimora, Baroda, Bombay Presidency, British India. He was a director and producer, known for Mother India (1957), Son of India (1962) and The Savage Princess (1952). He was married to Sardar Akhtar. He died on May 28, 1964 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India.

- A policeman's son, he absconded from home at eighteen to find work as an actor with the Imperial Film Company. He later turned to writing and began to direct socially conscious films from the mid-1930's. During the 1950's, he made more popular commercial entertainments, including India's first Technicolor feature The Savage Princess (1952).

Rahat would later get married to Sultan Ahmed ( Saira Banu's brother). From this marriage Rahat and Sultan had a daughter named Shaheen. She would later star in Maha Sangram and marry Sumeet Saigal. Shaheen is also the mother of actress Sayesha Saigal.
