First solo feature motion picture work "Tales of Manhattan" (1942), then at Eagle-Lion (1948), then 20th Century Fox. Work interrupted by HUAC blacklisting in 1953. Wrote incidental music for the theatre (both on and off Broadway), 1955-1961. Best remembered for his symphonic scoring of two classic Star Trek episodes, "The Doomsday Machine" and "The Enemy Within".
