Boy is about to meet Doc, as it has been announced that a documentary on the popular series Boy Meets World could be headed our way. But before you get too excited about revisiting Cory, Topanga and Shawn, those behind the project aren’t even sure if and when it will come out.
Appearing at 90s Con, Pod Meets World hosts Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews) and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) unveiled that a crew is indeed working on a documentary about Boy Meets World, compiling what little behind-the-scenes footage there is and interviewing fans. As Fishel put it, “We aren’t even sure if it’s ever gonna go anywhere or not. We’re not necessarily intending on doing anything with it…It really kicked into high gear last year when we started the podcast and we started doing some live shows.”

The Boy Meets World rewatch podcast Pod Meets World has proven to be immensely popular with those that grew up with the Tgif staple. But there was some skepticism prior to the first episode, with hosts Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and Will Friedle showing concern that their behind-the-scenes stories might have an unintended consequence on viewers.
Danielle Fishel – who played Topanga Lawrence on Boy Meets World – recently told People that of the concerns, mainly that it could potentially skew fans’ memories of the show. “We were worried we might ruin the show…We don’t want our criticisms or our critiques or our experiences to in any way change what your opinion of the show is. They’re just our honest opinions, and we can’t do it if we’re not going to be honest.”

The ’90s were a hell of a time to be a teen watching television. Steve Urkle terrorized the Winslows with his hormones and buffoonery, Zack Morris, an unchecked sociopath, ruled the halls of Bayside High, and the cast of Boy Meets World dabbled in matters of the heart, disturbing societal norms, and the multitude of ways to conduct a proper Feeny call. Unafraid to tackle harsh topics like child abuse, abandonment, and racism, people identified with the Boy Meets World cast, teens and parents included.
Initially airing on ABC from 1993 to 2000, Boy Meets World starred Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, Will Friedle as Eric Matthews, Rider Strong as Shawn Hunter, Danielle Fishel as Topanga Lawrence, William Daniels as the wisened George Feeny, Trina McGee-Davis as Angela Moore, William Russ as Alan Matthews, Betsy Randle as Amy Matthews, with Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway as Morgan Matthews.

In the 1990s, there was an undeniable boom of incredibly successful sitcoms. The decade was flooded with sitcoms that would ultimately define that era of television. In just 10 years, viewers became glued to shows that have stood the test of time, like "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air," "Seinfeld," "Frasier," "Friends," and many more. Amongst the variety of sitcoms on TV, "Boy Meets World" was an instant hit, especially for younger audiences. The coming-of-age show, which first aired in 1993, followed the day-to-day lives of Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), Cory's older brother Eric Matthews (Will Friedle), Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), and Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) as they navigated life from adolescence to young adulthood.
"Boy Meets World" ended in 2000, but in 2014, a spinoff called "Girl Meets World" aired on Disney Channel and ran for three seasons until 2017. Many of the "Boy Meets World" cast members, including Savage, Fishel, Friedle, and Strong,...

Will Friedle isn’t the type of person to answer his phone while at a lunch — especially at a work lunch. In fact, he may have better manners than anyone I’ve ever met. But this was an exception.
We’d been sitting for about 10 minutes — Friedle, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and me — gathered around a corner booth in a Studio City restaurant.
“Oh, my gosh, I’m sorry, I have to take this,” he says after pulling his iPhone out of his pocket. He quickly turns it around, showing the group the names that are scrolling across the screen: “Bill & Bonnie Daniels.”
It was just a check in from Mr. (and Mrs.) Feeny and no, it wasn’t a planned call. It was simply an example of how most (more on that later) of this cast is actually still close.

Mr. Feeny must have been doing something right at John Adams High, as former Boy Meets World star Ben Savage has announced he is running for Congress in California. Now if he can get Rider Strong as his running mate…
Ben Savage posted on his Instagram this week with the caption, “I’m running for Congress because it’s time to restore faith in government by offering reasonable, innovative and compassionate solutions to our country’s most pressing issues…And it’s time for new and passionate leaders who can help move our country forward. Leaders who want to see the government operating at maximum capacity, unhindered by political divisions and special interests.” He’s even dressed up, which beats a Phillies jersey, at least…Savage ended his post with a link to his official campaign website. There isn’t much merch–only a yard sign–but a blow-up globe would be a nice touch.

It’s hard to imagine “Boy Meets World” without legendary actor William Daniels playing the iconic role of Mr. Feeny. But it almost didn’t happen, because Daniels turned down the role twice!
The 95-year-old actor, flanked by his wife of over 70 years, actress Bonnie Bartlett, opened up to Et’s Kevin Frazier about the reasons why he didn’t see himself playing Cory Matthews’ (Ben Savage) teacher-turned-mentor. For starters — and simply put — Daniels didn’t want to do a sitcom.
He was having the time of his life playing Dr. Mark Craig in the drama series “St. Elsewhere”, for which he won two Emmys, including in 1986 for Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Bartlett also won an Emmy that year for Best Supporting Actress, as they became the second married couple in history to win an Emmy on the same night for “St. Elsewhere”. Williams had also voiced K.

I remember when I was doing ‘Angela’s Ashes’ the episode [of ‘Boy Meets World’], somehow my Black meter had slipped up and I was at about a 9,” McGee told former cast mates Rider Strong, Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel in a recent episode of “Pod Meets World” titled “Trina McGee Meets World.”
McGee went on to say that “Boy Meets World” creator Michael Jacobs approached her with an acting note: “’Hey, Trina, just turn down the Telma Hopkins about eight notches,’” she recalled him saying. “I knew exactly what he was talking about and I did.”

Trina McGee is opening up about what really happened in the series finale of Boy Meets World and why her character was missing from the episode.
McGee portrayed Angela Moore for the last three seasons of the ABC sitcom and during an appearance on the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, she talked about why she was not in the last episode of the series.
“I was told, in kind of a weird off-handed way by a very important person that you guys all went to [showrunner] Michael Jacobs, and you said ‘We don’t want her in the last episode. She’s somehow taking our light.’ That was the gist of it,” McGee said.
The character of Angela was Shawn Hunter’s (Rider Strong) love interest and Topanga’s (Danielle Fishel) best friend in college.

If you grew up during the late 90s/early 2000s, you’ll probably remember Trina McGee for her role as Angela Moore on the hit TV series, Boy Meets World. She appeared on the show for three seasons and was the first and only prominent black character. Since the show’s end, she has only made a few minor appearances over the years, and she seems to enjoy staying out of the spotlight. Instead of cancel culture, Trina McGee hopes to be part of teaching culture. On the small screen, pop culture fans recognize Trina as the actress who played Topanga's best friend and Shawn's love interest named Angela on Boy Meets World. But earlier this year, Trina spoke out on Twitter and claimed that her experience on the long-running series was far from perfect. "Called Aunt Jemima on set during hair and make up. Called a bitter bitch when I quietly waited for my scene to finish rehearsing that was being f'ed up over and over due to episode featuring my character. Told, 'It was nice of you to join us' like a stranger after 60 episodes," Trina alleged. "I did my...
