Kelly Clarkson, Peyton Manning and Jimmy Fallon are bringing something new to NBC’s coverage of the upcoming Paris Olympics this summer.
Clarkson and Manning will join sports commentator Mike Tirico to host the opening ceremony July 26, with Fallon and Tirico set to host the closing ceremony Aug. 11.
Clarkson and Manning first revealed their opening ceremony duties during a March appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The next day, NBCUniversal also announced Today hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb would be part of the opening ceremony coverage, set to take place around the River Seine in Paris, rather than in a sports arena as is traditional.
“I’m so glad we can say it,” Clarkson said at the time. “We’ve been holding this forever.”

The expansion of free streaming services continues unabated. On Wednesday, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment (Csse) shared some details on its ever-expanding reach and upcoming original programming at the Iab Newfronts in New York. A month after launching a new advertising sales division known as Crackle Connex, Csse reports having an audience of over 80 million monthly active users, up 100% year-over-year.
This rapid expansion was aided by the company acquiring Redbox last May, giving Csse an out-of-home presence, but the majority of the growth comes from the addition of over 160 channels on the company’s free ad-supported streaming TV (Fast) and ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) services.

Wendie Malick, Melissa Villaseñor, comedian Pete Holmes and skaters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski are among the lengthy list of guest stars who will appear on Season 1 of “Night Court.”
“Night Court” is back in session for a reboot of the comedy series that first aired in 1984 for nine seasons. Look who’s reporting for Night Court. NBC’s upcoming “Night Court” revival has set a new slate of guest stars including Melissa Villaseñor, Faith Ford, Pete Holmes, Kurt Fuller, Stephanie Weir, Lyric Lewis, Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.
The news came during NBCUniversal’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2023 press tour, where star and executive producer Melissa Rauch called “Night Court” a “newboot” of the original, which ran on NBC from 1984 to 1992 and starred Harry Anderson as judge Harry T. Stone.
Along with announcing the new guest stars, with character details yet to be announced, producers said during the “Night Court” panel that they would be open to bringing back Richard Moll and Marsha Warfield. Moll and Warfield are the only living cast members from the original series besides John Laroquette, who reprises his role in the revival.
The new “Night Court” follows the late Harry Stone’s daughter, the unapologetically optimistic judge Abby Stone.

A Russian teen figure skater’s move-for-move re-creation of Jenna Ortega’s viral “Wednesday” dance at the 2023 Russian Figure Staking Championships is having a viral moment of its own.
Kamila Valieva‘s routine began with just the 16-year-old’s hand peeking out from the stands as Thing, then she climbed onto the ice clad in a frilled black dress like the one Wednesday Addams wore to a school dance in episode 4 of the Netflix series. She also copied Ortega’s braids, pale makeup and blank facial expression.
The opening moments were skated to Danny Elfman’s theme music for the show, and then switched to The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck,” where Valieva channeled Ortega’s now iconic dance moves.

Food Network continues to cook up its relationship with popular host Guy Fieri, who is gearing up to launch his sixth show with the network.
Fieri’s next outing is “Guy’s Ultimate Game Night,” a culinary game show with celebrity guests competing in food-related games and trivia that brings some Hollywood flavor into the TV chef’s ever-growing repertoire.
The series — which launches on Aug. 31 at 9 p.m. — will air on both Food Network and Discovery Plus, further establishing Fieri’s presence in the new Warner Bros. Discovery era, both on linear and streaming.
“If you put a game show, late night talk show and a food competition show in a blender, you get ‘Guy’s Ultimate Game Night,’” Fieri said in a statement. “It’s the best dinner party you’ve ever been to — filled with food, booze, off-the-hook games and the funkiest live soundtrack around.”

Despite all the high-tech tricks, political posturing and pyrotechnics, the best part of the Closing Ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics proved to be the athletes.
Competing the past two weeks amidst rising international tensions, pandemic quarantines and with a heavy-handed host, the participants injected a bit of fun this morning into the tightly scripted affair. Following the traditional flag waving parade of nations into the reasonably full Bird’s Nest, American flag-bearer, Elana Meyers Taylor and her fellow masked team members from around the globe let off some stream cavorting on the giant stadium’s floor to a loop of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode To Joy” over the protests of Chinese officials who repeatedly asked everyone to take their seats.
This year’s Winter Olympics was unique in many ways, but it may not be a bad idea for future games to let the actual athletes rule the roost more often.

Exclusive: NBC has picked the hosts for its coverage of Sunday’s Closing Ceremony of the Beijing Olympics — and two of them have been in the news this week.
Figure skating announcers Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will be joined by Terry Gannon to call the expected extravaganza from Chinese capital, we’ve learned. The trio also handled announcing duties for the Closing Ceremony of the Tokyo Summer Olympics last year and for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
This weekend, Lipinski, Weir and Gannon will be hosting from NBC Sports HQ in Connecticut. Over the course of this year’s Winter Games, the Comcast-owned network has held the majority of its coverage of competition in Beijing from studios in the U.S.

Kamila Valieva, the 15-year-old Russian figure skater who was controversially allowed to participate in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics amid a doping scandal, failed to medal in the women’s free skate program despite being the heavy favorite in the event.
The usually rock-solid Valieva — who was atop the leaderboard following the short program Wednesday — fell or stumbled at least four times during her free skate routine, leaving the Russian with a score of 141.93, which ultimately put her in fourth place in the event.

Adam Rippon had no interest in sticking around the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing Tuesday, Feb. 15, when Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva took the ice for the women’s single short program. “I wasn’t there for the skate — I left,” he tells Rolling Stone from Beijing. “I didn’t want to watch.”
At just 15 years old, Valieva had arrived at the 2022 Winter Olympics a heavy favorite, and off the bat, she helped the Russian Olympic Committee take home gold in the team event. But after the medal ceremony was delayed by a “legal issue,...

Figure skater Kamila Valieva controversially took the ice Tuesday for the women’s single short program at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, despite the 15-year-old Russian’s positive test for a banned substance days earlier. Valieva’s presence in the event drew the ire of NBC commentators and former figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir, who criticized the International Olympic Committee’s decision to allow Valieva to compete.

NBC skating commentators Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir didn’t shy away from addressing the elephant in the room when Russian skater Kamila Valieva took the ice on Tuesday night. In fact, they made it clear they were outright disappointed to see her perform.
Valieva tested positive for a banned heart medication earlier this week, following a test taken on Dec. 25. Primarily due to her age, Valieva was not banned from competition. If she makes the podium — a definite possibility, since she posted an 82.16 on Tuesday night, putting her in first place — there will be no medal ceremony. But, Lipinski and Weir wanted to reiterate that, in any other case, Valieva wouldn’t have been there at all — and they would’ve preferred that.

You Won't Believe How Many Suitcases Tara Lipinksi & Johnny Weir Packed for the 2022 Winter Olympics
One of the world's biggest fashion events is almost here—and no, we're not talking about New York Fashion Week. Instead, we're counting down the days until figure skating analysts Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir begin commentating at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, as the duo always dresses to impress. "Oh, we are pumped," Lipinski exclusively said during E! News' Daily Pop on Thursday, Feb. 3. "We love an Olympic Games." They also love to put on a show themselves! "We pack our whole closet, essentially," Lipinski revealed. The pair brought a whopping 21 suitcases to the PyeongChang Winter Games, but they've apparently scaled down this...

Nobody knows the highs and lows of figure skating more than Tara Lipinski. Back in 1998, the athlete made history at 15 years old by becoming the youngest Olympic gold medalist in the history of figure skating. But just four years later, a scandal hit the sport Tara loved so much. After Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze took home gold for the Russians at the event, many questioned the judging system and why Canada's Jamie Salé and David Pelletier didn't earn the top scores. It's a story Tara and her husband Todd Kapostasy investigated in Peacock's juicy new docuseries titled Meddling. The couple traveled to different countries to meet with people who...

On last week’s fifth episode of “Project Runway” season 19, the 12 remaining designers worked in pairs to create exciting looks for Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir to wear as commentators at the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics. As the clients, Tara and Johnny chose Anna and Bones as the winners for Anna’s stunning white beaded gown for Tara and a complementary look for Johnny created by Bones. They weren’t as jazzed by what Sabrina and Prajje assembled for them, and opted to send Sabrina home for her costumey interpretation of the assignment.

“It hurts because I know I can do better than that. That being my last look to leave on hurts,” said Sabrina Spanta in her exit interview at the end of “Project Runway” season 19 episode 5, “Go for the Gold … Sequin.” It was her third time getting a low score from the judges, and two of those low scores, including this week’s, were in team challenges. It’s always especially tough to go out on a team challenge because often the collaboration with another designer ends up compromising your individual vision. Do you think she deserved to go home?

There’s nothing like the first Grand Prix event of an Olympic season when figure skaters debut the programs they hope will earn them a spot on the team and, looking ahead to February, the podium in Beijing. “The anticipation is at an all-time high,” says Olympic gold medalist turned commentator Tara Lipinski of the 2021 Guaranteed Rate Skate America (October 22-24 in Las Vegas). “There is definitely more pressure for the music, style and choreography to hit just right with the audience and the judges. And preferably right from the start to set the tone. In the Olympic quad, many skaters take those three years to test out new genres of music and different styles to see what works best for them, in hopes that through trial and error they land on just the right feel and look for the Olympic year. NBC likely will never admit it, but the Comcast-owned network must be so relieved that the Tokyo Olympics is finally over.
Just over 24 hours after the 17 days of the pandemic-delayed Games of the Xxxii Olympiad wrapped up, the network is trying to put a golden spin on losing results. Insisting that its small screen dominance and streaming data during the past two weeks were a winner, NBC also has revealed that it averaged 15.5 million primetime viewers since the lackluster Opening Ceremony on July 23.
Now, in today’s era of declining viewership, and looking at 2021 so far, 15.5 million sounds pretty impressive.

Ultimately lacking the Covid catastrophe or shutdown that many predicted, the Tokyo Olympics officially ended today in a near empty somber stadium with little more than a handful of athletes and a Japanese term for “thank you” on the jumbotron
“Arigato,” indeed.

It's not as if athletes dating athletes is a new concept. Season 1 of “The Masked Dancer” came to a dramatic conclusion on Wednesday night’s finale, with three-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas being revealed as the Diamond Mask trophy winner, Cotton Candy. Despite competing against two professionally trained dancers in the finale, Gabby came out on top by incorporating a few tricks she knew the Sloth and Tulip couldn’t match — tumbling skills. Cotton Candy rocked and rolled her way through an inspirational routine to Kesha‘s version of “This is Me” and finished things off by flying through the air in a bouquet of balloons.
