The slow-speed car chase never really ended.
It began on June 17, 1994, and it happened, appropriately, in prime time for many viewers. A warrant was out for O.J. Simpson’s arrest for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. And when police caught up with Simpson on a Southern California freeway, a TV news helicopter was hovering overhead.

On an otherwise uneventful Friday evening, about 95 million people watched a white Ford Bronco slowly driving down the 5 freeway.
The driver of the car, of course, was O.J. Simpson, the NFL star turned actor and TV broadcaster, and that day he officially was named as a murder suspect in the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.
America was glued to their TV sets, with the broadcast networks breaking into their regular programing, and the lone cable news channel CNN having its star host Larry King guide viewers through the action (watch it here).
The chase and subsequent trial (“The Trial of the Century,” as declared by multiple news outlets), with its live cameras in the courtroom, became gripping must-see TV. The not-guilty verdict — handed down at 10 a.m. on a weekday — was watched live by more than 150 million people (on day one of the 1991 Gulf War,...

Tyler Henry is sweating.
We are seated in an airy and bright conference room inside The Hollywood Reporter’s offices at Penske Media Corporation headquarters overlooking the 405 freeway. The 28-year-old, best known as the breakout star of Hollywood Medium on E! followed by the more recent Life After Death on Netflix, offered a polite heads up that he might perspire while doing a personal reading, something that is part of his process as he attempts to connect with the other side. But before Henry did his thing, he defined what it is that he does.
“The technical definition is somebody who communicates with people who have passed,” says Henry, who was in the building to help promote his current live tour (with an upcoming stop in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theater on April 12). “I have come to view it as something a little bit more multifaceted. I view mediums almost as coincidence-makers.

The singer-actress Ariana Grande took the stage to present the Oscar for Best Original Song and announced Billie Eilish’s What Was I Made For as the winner. However, her actions infuriated Diane Warren, a 15-time Oscar nominee for Best Original Song. Similar to Al Pacino, who skipped listing the Best Picture nominees, the Wicked star also did not list the nominees for Best Original Song and directly announced the winner.

The NCIS Universe has its new Gibbs.
A new NCIS spin-off debuts this fall that will tell stories from the earlier days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
The downside for some fans is that Mark Harmon won’t star in the show, even though he does have extensive involvement.
While Mark won’t appear on screen, he will narrate and executive produce NCIS: Origins.
Mark’s son Sean is also involved in the project. Sean played Gibbs during several flashback episodes of NCIS.
Now we know who will play the (new) younger version of Gibbs.
NCIS: Origins adds Austin Stowell as Gibbs
It has been confirmed that actor Austin Stowell will star as Gibbs on NCIS: Origins.
The news comes from CBS Studios and ends months of speculation from fans.
As a reminder, NCIS: Origins begins in 1991 when Gibbs and Mike Franks work at a Camp Pendleton office.

Ashleigh Banfield is sticking with NewsNation.
On Wednesday, the Nexstar Media Group-owned cable news channel said it had successfully negotiated a multi-year extension of Banfield’s contract, which will keep her eponymous prime-time conversation program on NewsNation for a while longer.
Banfield was one of NewsNation’s first hires, back when the channel was still operating under its previous branding, WGN America. She took over a slot occupied by a nightly news program in prime-time, vowing to resurrect the conversation-style chat show made popular by Charlie Rose and Larry King (CNN).
“I’m an avid news junkie,” Banfield said in an interview with Variety. “Something that’s been missing for me as a consumer has been the center lane — I’m exhausted by the breathless fights in cable news, and I long for the days when I could just be informed of what was...

Mariah Carey Once Slammed Eminem As Girly Over Their Alleged Relationship Feud ( Photo Credit – Instagram; Facebook )
Singers are creative people, and they express themselves through their songs. Sometimes, they make their songs a medium to shade others or convey their relationship to the world. It gets messy at times, like in the case of Eminem and Mariah Carey. Eminem and Mariah are two of the most eminent musical personalities linked together in the 2000s. It was all over the news, and their feud was among the most talked about.
They have had several relationships over the years and were linked with other people. Mariah and Marshall Bruce Mathers III’s fight took a different level when it was revealed that the Slim Shady rapper saved several voicemails of the songstress and desired to use them to make songs. He even started mentioning their alleged relationship in his songs, especially in his album,...

Melinda Wilson, wife of Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, mother of his five youngest children, and the key architect of his comeback, died Tuesday of unknown causes. She was 77.
“My heart is broken,” Brian Wilson wrote in a statement. “Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost. Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career. She encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us.

A "Suits" comeback wasn't on anyone's 2023 Bingo card, yet it was a huge year for the USA Network lawyer series. When the show dropped on Netflix last June, it became one of the streamers' biggest hits, reportedly accruing 3 billion minutes watched every week for much of the summer. The series' creator, Aaron Korsh, suspected its resurgence had something to do with the show's relatability and "inherent optimism," as he told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023. But the show's cast could have also had something to do with it: future ex-royal Meghan Markle starred in the legal procedural for its first seven seasons alongside leading men Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht.
When "Suits" started, USA Network seemed to have already established a pretty standard formula for success: cast hot people, write fast-paced scripts, and keep storylines adventurous. It worked for shows like "Burn Notice" and "Psych," and given the longevity of "Suits,...

Joyce Randolph, who played Trixie, the wife of Art Carney’s goofy sewer worker Ed Norton, on the classic sitcom The Honeymooners, has died. She was 99.
Randolph, the last surviving member of the famous foursome that also included the stars Jackie Gleason (as Brooklyn bus driver Ralph Kramden) and Audrey Meadows (as Ralph’s level-headed wife, Alice), died Saturday at her home in New York, her son, Randy, told TMZ.
Gleason spotted Randolph doing a commercial for Clorets and hired her to play Trixie on his DuMont network variety show Cavalcade of Stars, which premiered in 1951 and featured the Kramdens and the Nortons — neighbors in a rundown Bensonhurst apartment building — in a recurring skit.
Randolph continued on CBS’ The Jackie Gleason Show and then on The Honeymooners when it was spun off in 1955-56 as a half-hour sitcom recorded in front of a live audience. That season is known for...

Elvis Presley’s Jungle Room at Graceland had many purposes. He ate meals in the room, watched television, entertained guests, and even recorded songs. For all its purposes, though, the room ended up costing the household a great deal of money. One of Elvis’ installations continually flooded Graceland.
Elvis Presley’s Jungle Room often flooded Graceland
Elvis’ den at Graceland was his Jungle Room, a room decorated to look like a tropical forest. The room had green shag carpeting, wooden walls and furniture, animal skins, and plants. Elvis also installed a large artificial waterfall. This became one of the biggest problems with the room.
“It was a great idea … except it flooded everything,” Priscilla Presley told Larry King (via Rolling Stone). “It never worked. The whole room would get flooded.”
Though Elvis was fabulously wealthy, his father, Vernon, was cautious in spending his son’s money. He opted not to...

Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi thought she had little in common with fellow reality TV star Kim Kardashian. So much so that she doubted Kardashian would’ve been able to blend with the Jersey Shore cast at their wildest.
Snooki once shared Kim Kardashian wouldn’t fit in with ‘Jersey Shore’ because of 1 specific trait Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/WireImage
Snooki has usually been very complimentary towards her contemporary Kim Kardashian. Given they’re both in the same industry, the two have been very well aware of each other. Snooki has even shared that she wanted to emulate Kim’s business success.
“I would like to get on her level,” Snooki once explained on Chelsea Lately (via Ok!). “She’s very successful, she’s out there and she’s enjoying life, so that’s where I want to be.”
Eventually, fans couldn’t help compare the two to each other.

"Suits" continues to have a monumental run over on Netflix, having just eclipsed "Ozark" for the record of most consecutive weeks at number one at the top of the Nielsen ratings. During the show's initial nine-season run on USA Network, the legal drama's popularity attracted a number of actors who helped share the spotlight with the core cast to help bolster ratings and fill in new storylines. Throughout the series, appearances from legendary athletes like Charles Barkley and Michael Phelps ended up happening after both of them made it clear that they were huge fans of the show on social media. Adding fresh faces to interact with the cast isn't always a slam dunk, however, and a quick cameo from the wrong actor or celebrity could end up throwing off the natural chemistry and subtle alchemy between the main stars of the show.

Mark Harmon scored big when he ended up being cast in the hugely successful television series NCIS. Like most long-running television shows, NCIS experienced significant change and growth during its years on air. One of those changes included actually writing scripts for the show as it went on.

When Hulu announced they were going to revive "Futurama" for a third time, the good news (everyone) was immediately chased by the bad news that actor John Dimaggio -- who plays Bender and numerous other characters on the show -- may not return. The actor explained in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) back in February 2022 that the studio didn't offer him enough money, but more than that, were seemingly dismissive -- in an unspecified way -- of the entire voice cast. This led to a month-long contract standoff wherein it looked like Dimaggio may actually quit the show and move on. This would have been unthinkable to "Futurama" fans, as Bender was one of the most important characters on the show, and having another actor -- no matter how good they were -- would seem like too large a change to accept.

Actor Johnny Depp made his mark in Hollywood when he was cast as Edward Scissorhands in the titular role, however, he wasn’t the only actor considered for the part.

Dolly Parton is 77 years old. But she has the energy and face of someone much younger. Exercise is not the Queen of Country’s secret, which she says she hates as much as she hated school growing up.
Dolly Parton does not exercise
Parton was recently in London to promote her upcoming rock album, Rockstar, which features such artists as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Stevie Nicks, and Lizzo. While there, she also spoke about what she does (and doesn’t do) to look and feel energized. For Parton, exercise is not the answer. “Good doctors” are, though.
“I hate exercise, like I hated school,” she said, as reported by Yahoo!. “I watch my diet the best I can. I try and do low carb but if I see something I want to eat, I eat it, as I am a hog at heart. But exercise, I hate, hate, hate. I just do my diddly squats.

Back in the halcyon days of the early 2010s, Rob Schneider was perhaps best known for being a Saturday Night Live alum, one of Adam Sandler’s BFFs, and the star of the (underrated) The Hot Chick and the (completely fairly rated) Deuce Bigalow franchise. Today, however, he’s probably best known for being red-pilled as fuck.

Elvis Presley had a different view of how men and women were allowed to behave in relationships. His theories became even more skewed when it came to affairs, Presley’s longtime girlfriend Linda Thompson once admitted. Some people only get one chance to run CNN. Amy Entelis is about to embark on her second.
The veteran news executive was one of three who took the reins at the Warner Bros. Discovery news outlet when Jeff Zucker, the previous chief, was forced out in February of last year after acknowledging a romantic relationship with Allison Gollust, once CNN’s chief marketing officer. Now Entelis will be part of a new trio leading the news giant after the Wednesday departure of former CEO Chris Licht.
The challenges facing CNN have not diminished. Entelis will guide CNN’s news operations along with Virginia Moseley, recently named to oversee editorial operations, and Eric Sherling, recently appointed head of U.S. programming. Tina Turner was a legend in every sense of the word, and her death at age 83 on May 24 sparked countless tributes, as well as a renewed interest in her life story. Turner's life was marked by incredible resilience, and the comeback she launched in the 1980s after leaving her abusive husband in 1976 made her a prime example of how to rise from the ashes after hardship.
Fortunately, Turner seemed to find new love and peace - as well as a new home - in the last few decades of her life. Turner died at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland, but she first moved to the country in 1995. As it turned out, love had something to do with her decision to leave America, but her own desire for peace and privacy also played a role.

Tina Turner, the trailblazing rock star who set world records for ticket sales — and whose dramatic triumph over domestic abuse and the music industry itself made her a feminist icon — has died. She was 83.
Turner died Wednesday “after a long illness” in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland, her reps announced. “With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” they said.
An electrifying live entertainer who sold 200 million albums and won nine Grammy Awards, Turner rose to fame in the 1960s as the centerpiece of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, a St. Louis blues band turned high-wire rock act.
During more than 60 years in the spotlight, she transformed notions about aging, opportunity and resilience, most notably with her landmark album Private Dancer, which launched her to solo superstardom (finally) at age 44.

Jerry Springer’s eponymous talk show may have been tasteless, but you can’t say that Springer himself didn’t have taste.
“I would never watch my show,” he commented to Reuters in 2000. “I’m not interested in it. It’s not aimed towards me.”
He may not have been interested, but plenty of people were. The hugely successful tabloid show, one of the pioneers of trash television, notched nearly 5,000 episodes during its 27-season run from 1991 to 2018. During the peak of its popularity in the mid ‘90s, it even beat The Oprah Winfrey Show in the ratings in many cities.
You could say that Jerry Springer was the anti-Oprah Winfrey Show; if aliens monitored our broadcasts in those days, they would have been hopelessly confused about whether mankind was worth preserving or not.

Turner told Rolling Stone that Jagger had been around while they recorded the hit in the recording studio with Phil Spector. Turner remembered Jagger, but they’d never talked. “He’s not the type to make you feel you could just come up and talk to him,” Turner explained. Even though the pair didn’t speak, Jagger thought “River Deep,...

Jim Carrey and Steven Spielberg almost teamed up for the comedy Meet the Parents. But Ben Stiller and Jay Roach would eventually inherit the project instead. When Stiller read the Jim Carrey version of the film’s script, however, the actor felt some changes needed to be made.

Meet the Parents was a successful comedy feature starring Ben Stiller and directed by Autsin Powers filmmaker Jay Roach. The film saw Stiller trying to propose to his girlfriend while visiting her parents, only to rub his potential father-in-law the wrong way. Roach claimed that he wanted to direct the project as soon as he read the film’s screenplay. But the studio behind the film at the time had other ideas.
“I told Universal, ‘This is the funniest thing I’ve read.

Linda Kasabian, a former member of the notorious Manson family cult, died last month at a hospital in Tacoma, Washington. She was 73.
Kasabian died on January 21, and a death notice ran in the local newspaper Tacoma News Tribune, which named the former cult member as Linda Chiochios, one of the names she used after the Manson murder trials. Multiple media outlets have obtained copies of her death certificate where no cause is listed.
Born Linda Drouin in Maine in 1949, Kasabian moved to Los Angeles aged 20, where she became entwined in the brutal rampage, which became known as the “two nights of mayhem” during which members of Charles Manson’s cult murdered seven people, including actress Sharon Tate.
Tate was the wife of filmmaker Roman Polanski, and she was more than eight months pregnant at the time of the murder.

CNN hopes it’s finally hit upon a way to solve a long-vexing puzzle: What should it be airing at 9 p.m.? The solution requires the network to fit together many pieces.
Starting this week, the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed news outlet will fill the hour with a range of different special reports, all under the rubric of “CNN Primetime.” Future 9 p.m. hours could include one-on-one interviews with newsmakers; town halls that put government officials in direct contact with the people affected by policy decisions; and other programs that feature surprising “gets” and scoops. The programming gambit backs away from the tried-and-true practice of relying on a single anchor or opinion host in the time slot, home to Sean Hannity, Alex Wagner and Rachel Maddow, and banks instead on creative ways of analyzing the news cycle.
CNN announced earlier Monday that anchor Laura Coates would on Wednesday at 9 p.

Comedian and actor Richard Belzer, who sadly died on Sunday at age 78, played detective John Munch on several series, including “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” And on every single one of them, he had something wise and witty to say.
The character of John Munch was created on the underrated ’90s police drama “Homicide: Life on the Street.” Munch was known for his one-liners, metaphysical riffs and sprawling conspiracy theories while solving murders in Baltimore alongside detectives played by Andre Braugher, Daniel Baldwin and Ned Beatty. As he mused in one episode: “If a murder is committed in Baltimore and no homicide detective takes the call, did that homicide actually occur?”
He got a bit blue when the character moved over to “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in 1999, where the topics were rape, assault and, sometimes, sexual dysfunction, but he was still the same Munch.

He plays a fictional version of a real-life pastor named Chuck Smith, who participated in the national spiritual awakening of the ’70s. Taking place in Southern California, the Evangelical revival incorporated rock and roll and the hippie spirit.
Given that the movie focuses on Christianity, audiences are wondering about Grammer’s beliefs and whether he is a Christian. So, how closely does the former Frasier star’s life align with the religion?
