Nicole Paggi has agreed to temporarily become Maxie Jones on General Hospital. She takes over the role from Kirsten Storms, who will be out for a few days.
Soap Opera Digest first broke the news of the casting switch.
Paggi — who played Kelly Ripa’s niece/Faith Ford’s daughter Sydney in the ABC comedy Hope & Faith — debuted today on the ABC daytime soap.
Days of Our Lives vet Storms joined General Hospital in 2005 after playing Isabella “Belle” Black on the NBC drama from 1999 to 2004.
This is the second such switch of this character. Storms’ Maxie was temporarily recast in 2011, with Jen Lilley taking over the part until Storms returned in 2012. Storm also took temporary leaves from the show in 2016, 2017 and 2018, ranging from a couple days to a several-months hiatus, with Molly Burnett frequently filling in.

The Gold Derby predictions center event for the 2023 Emmy Awards has now added the Comedy Guest Actress category. We have compiled lists of nearly 40 eligible performers in each of the four guest acting races that reflect our educated guesses on who will be submitted for consideration. More names will be added in the next few months and when the Television Academy releases this year’s ballots in June. Make your very first selections now!
From last year’s six nominees, both Jane Lynch (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Harriet Walter (“Ted Lasso”) are eligible to return. Lynch, of course, won this category back in 2019 for her performance as Midge’s (Rachel Brosnahan) nemesis, standup comedian Sophie Lennon. Laurie Metcalf won last year for a two-episode arc on “Hacks,” which nabbed four of the six guest actress slots last cycle. There are times when the episodic nature of sitcoms contradicts the expected continuity in their narrative.
Case in point, Night Court Season 1 Episode 10 continues the thread of Neil's crush on Abby established on Night Court Season 1 Episode 8 but reverses the gains Abby and Olivia made on Night Court Season 1 Episode 7.
Meanwhile, Dan's sentimentality over the bench pushes Gurgs's scheming buttons, introducing a new potentially recurring character, Bert, the gator-owning head of maintenance.
Fun fact: the production number for "Train Court" (Night Court Season 1 Episode 7) indicates that episode was filmed after this one, which may explain the de-evolution of Abby and Olivia's relationship.
The show's airing order hasn't followed the production order beyond the premiere where Night Court Season 1 Episode 1 and Night Court Season 1 Episode 2 were broadcast, but this is the first instance where the narrative has clearly been jumbled.
If they'd aired in the order they filmed, Abby's thirsty need...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Night Court Season 1 Episode 7, “Blood Moon Binga.” Faith Ford returned to sitcoms in Season 1 Episode 7 of Night Court as Abby Stone’s (Melissa Rauch) mom, Gina. And seeing the Murphy Brown alum back on a multi-cam with another legend of the style, John Larroquette, was a treat for sitcom lovers. Gina came to New York City to visit her daughter at work. But when she arrived at the courthouse, a mysterious history between Gina and Dan Fielding. It wasn’t a sexual history like Lacretta‘s Gurgs predicted, but instead Gina had a criminal past that she and her late husband, Harry Stone (Harry Anderson), kept secret from their daughter. For years, Gina ran an illegal poker game that led to her facing Dan in Harry’s night court. Harry and Gina eventually connected and fell in love, but Abby (real name Abracadabra Stone) was told a much different story.

I'll admit that Night Court Season 1 Episode 8 is probably my favorite offering so far this season.
There's something about doubling down on the absurdity of the court's usual clientele by adding some perennial extra craziness that rings true to the original series.
Meanwhile, learning about how (and with whom) Harry fell in love and moved upstate scratches that itch of missing him.
Remembering how the original series had several guest stars who recurred with delightful regularity, I can't help but consider the quirkier defendants we've seen for potential returns.
I suspect we won't see the vampire couple again, but Pam is in my "Strong Maybe" pile. It helps that she stuck around for multiple scenes.
Of course, being the Blood Moon, they may all be one-offs, although it would be interesting if Satan's daughter, Marsha, were to check in occasionally.
Olivia: When Satan speaks to you, is it in your head or from a dog?...

Nothing like a blood moon to make things at New York City’s night court crazier than usual. It all goes down in the Tuesday, February 28 episode of NBC‘s Night Court, the revival of the classic 1984-92 sitcom. Between the nutty cases, Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch) gets an unexpected visitor — her joyful mother, Gina (Murphy Brown’s Faith Ford). However, the heartfelt reunion may be short-lived when it’s revealed that Gina is harboring a big secret that just happens to involve cantankerous public defender Dan Fielding (John Larroquette). While at the 2023 Television Critics Association winter press tour, Rauch shared more about how she comedy landed Ford as Abby’s mother — a casting she says was a no-brainer, noting, “Just talking about Abby’s capturing the essence of Harry [Stone, played by the late Harry Anderson] and who else could she potentially capture the essence of.” Larroquette also gushed about being a fan of Ford,...

When they investigate the mystery of Ernest’s past, they become a target of the CIA who have malicious intent for the spirit. Can the family help Ernest before it’s too late?

Jennifer Coolidge has lived many lives on screen, one of her latest being in Netflix’s upcoming film We Have a Ghost. Judging by her fear-stricken reaction to seeing an actual ghost, the psychic medium she plays, Judy Romano, is the kind of supernatural communicator who hopes they never actually have to come in contact with the supernatural.
It doesn’t help that the ghost at hand, a wronged family man named Ernest (David Harbour), is in cahoots with a teenager named Kevin (Jahi Di’Allo Winston), whose family moved into a haunted house.

In the mood for a good haunting but don’t want to be scared?
Then, you might want to check out the new trailer for We Have a Ghost. The comedy is a Netflix original starring the streaming service’s Stranger Things star, David Harbour, and Anthony Mackie. The movie looks to have a fun twist on the typical tropes of a family moving into a new home in a new town that knows of rumors of an apparition in said home. Harbour’s spectre is the friendliest ghost outside of Casper and hijinks ensue when he and Mackie’s family start co-existing as local celebrities.
The official Netflix synopsis reads,
“Ernest the ghost, discovered by the homeowner who named him that because the apparation looks like Ernest Borgnine. The homeowner Frank, begins filming his ghost and posting it for the world to see on social media. Ernest becomes a viral sensation.

Thirty years after “Night Court” came to a decidedly dissatisfying conclusion following nine seasons, NBC is returning to the scene of the crime and punishment. A sequel rather than a reboot, the new series features Judge Abby Stone — daughter of the zany but popular Judge Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson), who anchored the original sitcom — wielding the gavel. She’s as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as he was, though not as deft a magician; during one trick, she gets a Constitution stuck in her bra.
A refresher: When we last left our kooky courtroom family, everyone essentially had decided to go their separate ways — defense attorney Christine Sullivan (the late Markie Post) to a newly elected post in Congress, womanizing assistant district attorney Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) to chase after Christine, court clerk Mac Robinson (the late Charles Robinson) to film school, and Harry, well, still in night court. Fans...

Wendie Malick, Melissa Villaseñor, comedian Pete Holmes and skaters Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski are among the lengthy list of guest stars who will appear on Season 1 of “Night Court.”
“Night Court” is back in session for a reboot of the comedy series that first aired in 1984 for nine seasons. In this new take on the series, John Larroquette reprises his role as narcissistic prosecutor Dan Fielding, with Melissa Rauch (“The Big Bang Theory”) playing optimistic judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the late Judge Harry Stone (Harry Anderson).
“We’re obviously huge fans of the original, and it’s an incredible privilege to get to work in this world and tell stories with these characters,” the series’ executive producer, Dan Rubin, said. “But it’s also a challenge to keep this show its own thing and have it stand on its own two feet.”

Look who’s reporting for Night Court. Producers of the NBC comedy — a revival of the ‘80s series of the same name — announced a slate of guest stars for the show at NBCUniversal’s presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour ahead of the show’s premiere on Tuesday, January 17. Those guest stars are Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live), Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland), Pete Holmes (How We Roll), Faith Ford (Hope & Faith), Kurt Fuller (Supernatural), Stephnie Weir (MADtv), Lyric Lewis (A.P. Bio), and figure skaters, Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski, according to Variety. So far, only John Larroquette is returning from the original series — he’s coming back to play Dan Fielding again — though producers told reporters at the TCA press tour that they’re open to bringing back Richard Moll and Marsha Warfield to play Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon and Rosalind “Roz” Russell. NBC’s upcoming “Night Court” revival has set a new slate of guest stars including Melissa Villaseñor, Faith Ford, Pete Holmes, Kurt Fuller, Stephanie Weir, Lyric Lewis, Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.
The news came during NBCUniversal’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s winter 2023 press tour, where star and executive producer Melissa Rauch called “Night Court” a “newboot” of the original, which ran on NBC from 1984 to 1992 and starred Harry Anderson as judge Harry T. Stone.
Along with announcing the new guest stars, with character details yet to be announced, producers said during the “Night Court” panel that they would be open to bringing back Richard Moll and Marsha Warfield. Moll and Warfield are the only living cast members from the original series besides John Laroquette, who reprises his role in the revival.
The new “Night Court” follows the late Harry Stone’s daughter, the unapologetically optimistic judge Abby Stone.

Court is officially back in session.
The cast of NBC’s Night Court will count with many guest stars in Season 1 including SNL‘s Melissa Villaseñor, Pete Holmes, Johnny Weir, Tara Lipinski, Lyric Lewis, Kurt Fuller, and Stephnie Weir. They joined previously announced Faith Ford who will portray Abby Stone’s (Melissa Rauch) mom.
A revival of the original series created by Reinhold Weege, the multi-camera Night Court centers on unapologetic optimist judge Abby Stone, the daughter of the late Harry Stone (originally played by Harry Anderson), who follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding, with John Larroquette reprising his role.

Streamers had been in the news a lot over 2022. Less for what they were providing their subscribers but more for what they weren’t providing. Finished movies were shelved forever, projects canceled outright, and shows that seemed a shoo-in to be renewed were canceled. Luckily for 2023, it looks like we’re still about to get a lot of great content sent directly to our homes. What streaming films should we be anticipating?
Teen Wolf: The Movie – Paramount+ January 26th
It’s finally come full circle. First, there was the 80s Teen Wolf movie. Then MTV took that idea and based a young adult TV series on it. Now, that MTV series is getting a reunion movie to premiere on Paramount+. As it was, it shall be. A new evil has emerged, and Scott must reunite with his old friends, as well as some new ones, to fight this new menace.

Following appearances on “Cagney & Lacey,” “Thirtysomething,” and “Webster,” 22-year-old Faith Ford landed her first regular TV series role on the CBS sitcom “Murphy Brown.” As one of seven original cast members, she played Corky Sherwood, a young news reporter whose cheerful personality often clashed with that of the titular Brown (Candice Bergen), her older, much more cynical colleague. Over the course of 10 seasons, the role brought Ford five Best Comedy Supporting Actress Emmy nominations.
Ford’s first bid was one of 11 that the show earned in 1989 for its inaugural season. At 24, she was the ninth youngest actress to ever compete in her category, and she now ranks just one spot lower. Including Ford, all 10 of the women on the list were added to it prior to 1994, with three having been under 20 and one having received her bid before turning 10.

It was an unusual ceremony, in which an Emmy rule change pitted series regulars against one-episode guest stars. In addition, two of the most awarded comedies of all time battled it out, a favorite drama lost the top spot and one of the most celebrated talk shows of all time finally received a top honor. This was also the last year that the Big Four networks received all the nominations for Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series. We’re throwing it back three decades to August 30, 1992, when Tim Allen, Kirstie Alley and Dennis Miller hosted the 44th Primetime Emmy Awards on Fox. Read on for our Emmys flashback 30 years ago to 1992.
Between 1989 and 1992, “Cheers” and “Murphy Brown” volleyed the Best Comedy award back and forth. This was “Murphy’s” year, winning in this category for the second and final time. The other sitcoms up were “Brooklyn Bridge,” “Home Improvement” and “Seinfeld.

Norm Macdonald, the deadpan comedian, actor, writer and “Saturday Night Live” star, has died after a battle with cancer, Variety has confirmed. He was 61.
Macdonald privately battled the disease for almost a decade. “Norm was an original! He defined American humor with honesty and blunt force,” Jeff Danis, president of Dpn Talent and one of Macdonald’s reps, told Variety in a statement.
Dozens of comedians, including Seth Rogen, Jon Stewart, Ron Funches and Jim Gaffigan, paid tribute to Macdonald, “one of the greatest comedians to have ever lived,” on social media.
The comedian got his start in showbiz as a writer on “Roseanne” in 1992 after making rounds at comedy clubs in Canada. He joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” in 1993, and the next year, began his memorable stint as “Weekend Update” anchor until early 1998, when he was replaced by Colin Quinn. CBS is still open to rebooting classic shows despite the cancellation of Murphy Brown after one season.
The Candice Bergen-fronted series made headlines as the second wave of revival fever hit new heights last year, with the Emmy winning show returning to CBS in September almost 20 years after the original run of the Diane English-created series ended.
However, the show, which was initially conceived as a limited series, was unable to cut through.
Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President, Programming, CBS Entertainment, told Deadline that the cancellation will not impact its interest in bringing back other classic formats.
“We loved working on the show and it did a great job. We just felt this season we had stuff that was better to put in. In terms of reboots, we’re open, we’re not closing the door, if there’s something that’s the right fit, we’re fully open to that.

It's a sad day to be a fan of the more marginally rated comedies on CBS.
The network has canceled four series ahead of upfronts.
Murphy Brown was revived back on the heels of the eye-popping ratings Roseanne pulled in for ABC.
But CBS failed to realize that Murphy Brown was never as popular as the ABC classic, and viewers did not show up in their droves.

The Candice Bergen-fronted revival launched to a paltry 1.1 demo rating last fall. Over 13 episodes, it averaged just 6.1 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating in the demo.
Not even bringing back original stars Joe Regalbuto (Frank Fontana), Faith Ford (Corky Sherwood) and Grant Shaud (Miles Silverberg) could save the show.
When CBS opted to not order more episodes for the first season, it became apparent that the network was done with the show.
