Fox 2024-25 Fall Lineup: Rescue Hi-Surf Gets Post Super Bowl Slot; Accused & 9-1-1: Lone Star Return
Fox was busy over the weekend.
They renewed their remaining drama, The Cleaning Lady, for a 12-episode third season under new showrunners, to start.
The Cleaning Lady, which suffered a great loss when leading man Adan Canto died, was forced to pivot midseason, and it will be pivoting again for its third season.
While we don’t have details, perhaps divesting the original creative team from being so closely related to their story will give the show an opportunity to thrive.
Today, Fox will unveil its content slate for the 2024-2025 television season to the national advertising community during its in-person Upfront Presentation at the Manhattan Center.
That means we get the information on that schedule now and can add the videos after the execs reveal them later this evening.
Here’s what we know.

Pinewood Studios has sold its minority stake in the Dominican Republic’s horizon water tank facility, which has been renamed Lantica Studios after its now sole owner, Lantica Media.
Formerly known as the Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios, Lantica Studios is undertaking the building of a fourth soundstage, measuring 16,000 sq.ft., and two additional workshop spaces of 12,000 sq. ft each, mainly dedicated to housing camera, grip and electric equipment vendors. These are set to open by the Spring of 2025.
The landmark expansion comes as the 10-year-old studio has seen record growth in international and local production, which has led to the availability of more skilled crew in the Dominican Republic (Dr), either trained on the job or in regularly held workshops. “We’ve grown from hiring locals at an average rate of 400 – 500 a year to 2,000 a year,” said Albert Martinez, CEO of Lantica Studios.

Hugh Jackman arguably has the record for the longest tenure of an actor playing a superhero over the years. Since 2000’s X-Men, the actor has played Wolverine for almost 24 years and is returning once again in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine. Before this, the X-Men had its own universe separate from the MCU at 20th Century Fox.

The next project from Narcos creator Chris Brancato may be a Peaky Blinders-esque period drama series about Irish gangs in New York.
Brancanto, speaking at the TV festival Series Mania in Lille, France on Wednesday, said he was developing the period crime series for MGM+.
Brancanto made the announcement in the final few minutes of his talk at Series Mania, which was focused on his new MGM+ show Hotel Cocaine, one of the highlighted series in the competition lineup at the French TV fest. He declined to give many details about his new project, except to note the show’s working title — The Westies — and that the series will follow the “fearsome Irish gangs” in New York in the late 19th century.

When you’re an actor with a lot going on, and particularly if they are projects that everyone wants to know about, you have to be a bit cagey about what you reveal. Millions of dollars are at stake.
Thus, Ebon Moss-Bachrach had to be careful during his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! But he did drop a few hints about what to expect.
Right now, he’s busy in Chicago filming season three of The Bear, the restaurant saga where he plays manager Richie. He kidded about what’s in store: “The restaurant works and it’s peaceful.”
One fan of the show is Steven Spielberg, Moss-Bachrach said, although a chance meeting with the director left him flummoxed, as a friend who was supposed to relay the praise message from Spielberg forgot to do so. Before The Bear actor was tasked with the role in the MCU, Michael Bailey Smith, Carl Ciarfalio, Michael Chiklis, and Jamie Bell played the role in earlier live-action movies. However, Marvel did one thing right with Moss-Bachrach’s casting from the earlier iterations, as they appropriately cast a Jewish actor in the role.

Members of the Directors Guild of America and the Writers Guild of America have moved to form Jewish committees, finding that recent events demonstrate a need for better representation within the guilds.
In the DGA, members have gathered more than 300 signatures on a petition calling on the board to create a Jewish Diversity Committee, which would address issues like antisemitism and employment equity in Hollywood.
“We want a seat at the table,” said Stuart Acher, a director who is organizing the effort. “The guild looks to these diversity committees as advisers to help protect representation and rights for people of that community. Now, Jews don’t have a voice. No one is speaking for the Jews.”
The DGA has eight diversity committees, including those for Black, Latino, Asian American, women, LGBTQ and disabled members.
In recent weeks, WGA West agreed to create a Jewish Writers Committee, which is co-chaired by Dan Signer and Patrick Moss.

We're very sorry to report today that actor Carl Weathers has died at the age of 76. Weathers was most known for his movie career, playing Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" series and Dillon in "Predator".
But Weathers worked in television as well — and I don't mean just his recent run on "The Mandalorian." One of his most memorable appearances came in "The Shield" season 2 episode "Partners." The cop drama follows the Strike Team, an anti-gang unit in Los Angeles led by Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis), with the narrative twist the team is just as dirty and murderous as the criminals they investigate. "The Shield" has plenty of memorable guest stars, from Melanie Lynskey as a killer of the week in season 2, to Forest Whitaker as the antagonist (not the villain) of season 5.

Hotel Cocaine is the story of Roman Compte, a Cuban exile and general manager of the Mutiny Hotel, the glamorous epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. The Mutiny Hotel was Casablanca on cocaine; a glitzy nightclub, restaurant, and hotel frequented by Florida businessmen and politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars, and musicians. A list of the 10 best TV performances of the year could be filled exclusively with actors from Succession, Reservation Dogs and Beef, the top three shows shared by both of our Best of 2023 lists. But what fun would that be? You already know that Sarah Snook and Devery Jacobs and Steven Yeun are great. Or you should.
That’s why, when Angie and I set out to do this list, we started with the simple rule: “Nothing from either of our Top 10 lists.” Those performances and those shows have been celebrated amply, and we wanted to cover as many of the year’s standouts as possible.
Oh, and if it seems like most of our favorite performances of the year were from women? You don’t know the half of it. Had we had more time or space, we would have loved to write about Aunjanue Ellis (Justified: City Primeval...

In 2005 and in 2007, director Tim Story made a pair of feature films starring the Fantastic Four, one of Marvel Comics' most superlative titles. "Fantastic Four," created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, was more or less a family sitcom except the three family members and their best friend all happened to have superpowers. It was light and comedic, while also featuring bloviating, demonstrative supervillains who shouted regularly about the glories of world domination. It was a comic book series that declared itself to be The World's Greatest Comics Magazine!
Story's feature film adaptations were not very well received when they were released. 2005's "Fantastic Four" only bears a 28% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," only has a 38% approval rating. Moreso, Marvel Comics fans were harsh to Story's movies, hating their cartoony tone and corny scripts. It's worth acknowledging, however, that Story's...

Every good sports movie needs an underdog that the audience can root for. The new film from director Rod Lurie (The Last Castle, The Outpost) has a real one that would have seemed too impossible to believe if a screenwriter had made him up. He’s Mike Flynt, who at the age of 59 went back to play for his college alma mater after 37 years, becoming one of the oldest men to ever play the game.
Superbly played by Michael Chiklis, he’s the real-life hero of The Senior, which recently received its world premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. When it gets its inevitable theatrical release, this crowd-pleaser should be a potent box office attraction, especially in non-urban areas. The lines are probably already forming in Texas theaters.
The story begins in 1970, when Flynt was a star linebacker at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Unfortunately, he also had a violent temper,...

Marvel Studios’ “Fantastic Four,” which will bring one of the most well known superhero teams in all of comics into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is zeroing in on one of its main leads.
Pedro Pascal is currently being eyed to play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, a brilliant scientist who gains the ability to bend and stretch his body like rubber following exposure to gamma rays during a scientific expedition to outer space.
The role would continue Pascal’s hot streak of iconic characters. His career first took off with his memorable turn as Prince Oberyn Martell on “Game of Thrones,” and then hit a new height when he was cast as the titular bounty hunter on “The Mandalorian,” the first “Star Wars” TV and inaugural series for Disney+. The 48-year-old actor was recently nominated for an Emmy for his performance on the ongoing HBO series “The Last of Us.
