Bette Midler might have been channel surfing Saturday when she tweeted out a query: “Is it too late for me to become a Real Housewife of Beverly Hills? I’ve never watched it, but I am in the mood to talk some s–t. And to get paid for it? A dream!”
The legendary entertainer even got the cosign from “Real Housewives” network Bravo and producer Andy Cohen.
“Talk about a glorious crossover,” the official @BravoTV X account tweeted.
“It’s time!” Cohen added.
Responding to Cohen with a retweet, Midler shared what she thinks her “Housewives” tagline would be: “I think my tagline should be, ‘Those Beaches don’t know what’s about to hit ’em!!'”

When Oscar-winning producer Jonathan Sanger was first pitched “Cabrini,” the story of the first American saint, he wasn’t quite sure he was right for the project.
“I said, ‘I think it’s a great idea. I think you should make the movie. I don’t really think I’m the right guy to produce this,’” Sanger recalls of his early conversation with executive producer J. Eustace Wolfington. “I tend to like to make stories about real people, that most people who watch these stories can relate to. And I don’t know how to relate to a saint.”
Wolfington wouldn’t take no for an answer, telling Sanger he was missing the point: Francesca Cabrini may have become a saint, but her powerful story of overcoming adversity as both a woman and an Italian immigrant takes place far before her posthumous canonization in 1946.

The 2024 Oscars In Memoriam segment paid tribute to so many stars who have passed away in the last year, however, several noteworthy names wore omitted.
Celebrities such as Matthew Perry, Tina Turner, Tony Bennett, Sinead O’Connor, and Paul Reubens were honored during the tribute, which was set to Andrea Bocelli and his son’s live rendition of “Time to Say Goodbye.”
The main In Memoriam segment granted each star an individual slide. Those who were left out appeared on a single slide together at the end of the tribute.

The 96th Academy Awards ceremony was held on Sunday, March 10th, in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. And, of course, the “In Memoriam” is always a notable section, known for producing tears but also jeers at all the omissions that seem to occur each year.
Andrea Bocelli and Matteo Bocelli delivered this year’s Oscars In Memoriam performance singing “Time to Say Good-Bye (Con Te Partirò),” perhaps awkwardly more well-known to many these days as the song Will Ferrell and John C.

Even an Academy Awards telecast as satisfying as the 96th Oscars has some disappointing moments. From missed speeches to missed opportunities to capitalize on its presenters and a misguided attempt to honor those we’ve lost, here are four of the misfires from the Sunday, Mar. 10 telecast.
Wes Anderson misses his first Oscar win
Yes, many folks were displeased about someone of Wes Anderson’s stature crashing the Best Live Action Short category, but the majority of Oscar voters deemed “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” the best of this year’s nominees. The acclaimed director has seven prior nominations for features “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Isle of Dogs” but had surprisingly never taken home a trophy, so it would have been joyous to see him ascend the Oscar stage, statuette in hand, and deliver a trademark idiosyncratic acceptance speech.

The In Memoriam segment of the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night paid a moving tribute to several stars and movie industry folk who have died over the last year — but, as ever, social media was quick to point out the more glaring omissions.
During the telecast, the In Memoriam segment featured Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performing a moving rendition of “Con te partirò” as pictures of talent who have died flashed on the stage behind them. The segment opened with a tribute to the late Russian political activist Alexei Navalny, who died last month in prison in controversial circumstances.
“You’re not allowed to give up,” Navalny says in a clip from the film Navalny, which won best documentary feature at the 2023 Academy Awards. “If they decide to kill me, it means we are incredibly strong.”

Starting out with a remembrance of Alexei Navalny, the In Memoriam tribute featured photos and videos of many performers and crew that we’ve lost over the past year, there were some who did not make the cut.

The end of the performance featured many names listed on the screen, including Lance Reddick, Norman Lear, Ron Cephas Jones, Sinead O’Connor and Treat Williams, but one name was notably missing from the tribute this year, and that was Angus Cloud.

Andrea Bocelli performed a rendition of the song “Time to Say Goodbye” with his son Matteo Bocelli to accompany the Academy’s annual obituary section. Perhaps mindful of previous years, in which eagle-eyed viewers have jumped on omissions, this year’s “In Memoriam” — which began with footage of the recently deceased Russian opposition leader and subject of last year’s winning documentary Navalny — seemed comprehensive but at the same time not enough.

Part of every awards show is the In Memoriam segment, which honors those who have died in the past year. And that also means that part of every awards show is taking note of who didn’t make the cut (as happens every time). The 2024 Oscars are no exception. Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo performed “Time to Say Goodbye” for the 2024 Oscars In Memoriam segment. Among the names part of the segment—at the end, the broadcast directed viewers to a website for the “many other legends we lost”—were: Michael Gambon, Harry Belafonte, Alan Arkin, Julian Sands, Andre Braugher, Chita Rivera, Tom Wilkinson, Glynis Johns, Jane Birkin, Paul Reubens, Piper Laurie, Richard Roundtree, Ryan O’Neal, Matthew Perry, Richard Lewis, Lee Sun-Kyun, Carl Weathers, William Friedkin, Glenda Jackson, and Tina Turner. For reasons yet to be explained, a super Pac supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s presidential campaign falsely advertised a forthcoming fundraiser featuring a performance from famed Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and several other celebrity guests.
At the end of December, the Daily Mail reported — citing unspecified “organizers” — that Kennedy’s campaign would throw a “multi-million dollar” fundraiser later this month for the anti-vax candidate in Indian Wells, a resort town in the California desert. Supposedly, this event would also double as a birthday party for the independent candidate, who turns 70 on Jan.

Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli is currently on tour and has concerts all throughout 2024.
A few days ago, Bocelli announced some concert postponements due to “health challenges” and offered rescheduled dates. In a Facebook post, the Italian singer made another announcement that his voice was back and that he would be performing at both the original and rescheduled dates.
“I’m double honored and grateful because in my heart, I am already at Madison Square Garden, where I’ll be singing to celebrate Christmas on Wednesday and Thursday,” Bocelli’s post read. “I want to embrace New York and the entire nation in song, thanking them again for their love, and also for their patience.
Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer was moved to tears while he shared the stage with blind Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Bocelli, a famous opera singer who hails from Tuscany, held his most recent concert in Zurich, Switzerland, on Monday, and delivered a masterful performance. But it was the closing minutes of the night that put the crowning touch inside the Hallenstadion.
Federer was among the high-profile attendees of the concert but was completely stunned when he heard the 65-year-old singer call him by his name and invite him on the stage where he would close the session with his final number: Nessun Dorma.
The crowd instantly erupted when the 20-time Grand Slam champion left his seat and walked onto the stage. Federer, dressed in a stylish black cardigan on top of a blueish sweater, shook hands with Bocelli and exchanged hugs, and stood by his side to listen to the last aria.

According to one of its writers, Elvis Presley‘s “Love Me” sound masochistic. While the song feels honest, it was supposed to be a joke at first. It was also meant to mimic one of the country music acts of the time period.
Elvis Presley’s ‘Love Me’ was from the same writers as ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Jailhouse Rock’
Together, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote several Elvis hits, such as “Bossa Nova Baby,” “Hound Dog,” and “Jailhouse Rock.” During a 2020 interview with Elvis Australia, Stoller discussed the origin of Elvis’ “Love Me.” He contrasted Elvis’ cover of the song with the original version by Willie & Ruth.
“The song is the same, but first of all Willie & Ruth were a duet who sang in harmony,” he recalled. Their record featured piano triplets. It was a strong performance, but Elvis’ is a really special performance. The odd thing is Elvis’ version...

Who didn’t Tony Bennett duet with?
The legendary singer was famously known for his Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Duet albums that featured everyone from Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse to Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand.
Here, we celebrate the collaborative efforts of Bennett, who died Friday at age 96.
