“There's no point in being grown-up if you can't be childish sometimes.”
Even in his first story, Tom Baker's Doctor hit the nail on the head thanks to his talent for intergalactic insight. All grown-ups feel this way. The brain's telling you that you're still a youngster even if the mirror's laughing at you with its brazen display of grey hairs, receding hairlines and chubbier jowls.
But I'm channel surfing, and having already reviewed the Doctor Who story, Robot, let's switch over to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer channel. As luck would have it, I've reached the episode where Tom's Doctor's mantra is scribbled everywhere in thick colourful kiddy wax crayon. Yes, it's Band Candy, an episode that carries on finding the fun, as Faith would so eloquently put it. Principal Snyder's latest Davros-esque order to his worthless subjects – sorry, pupils – involves selling box-loads full of candy in order...

Birthdays. A celebration of the annual 'hanging another year on the line'. Balloons, cake and presents do the job when you're younger, while Grandpa/Grandma joke cards and booze do the job for the older ones. Buffy, on the other hand, is turning 17 in the bleakest fashion possible. Not only is she up against a giant blue joykiller called The Judge, she's about to find that her boyfriend isn't quite the man she thought he was.
Surprise/Innocence occurs at that mid-point segment of a Buffy season in which the rules change (think of the revelation of Adam or Travers firing Giles, for example). This two-parter is one of the biggest goalpost shifts in the series: the point in which Angel turns from the vampire with a soul to the evil Angelus. Up until now, we've been fed scraps of information about Angelus' fiendish ways: How he killed his family; how he psychologically tortured Drusilla.

Matthew Gray Gubler knows "Criminal Minds" typically is spooky enough on a weekly basis as is.
The night before Halloween, though, the long-running CBS crime drama can be counted upon to be seasonally eerie. "In the Blood," Wednesday's (Oct. 30) new episode, takes Dr. Spencer Reid (Gubler) and his Behavioral Analysis Unit colleagues to Utah, where several murders appear to be patterned on the Salem Witch Trials -- encompassing victims being burned at the stake.
"I love it," the friendly Gubler tells Zap2it about the story. "One of our favorite directors, Michael Lange, directed it. It's a fun, visually interesting episode. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty sure we do amp it up. It's about an interesting point in the history of America, too."
Costumes are involved for the main cast members as well, since the tale also involves tech expert Garcia (Kirsten Vangness) staging a Day of the Dead...

Intern
Stars: Dominique Swain, Joan Rivers, Kathy Griffin, Ben Pullen, Peggy Lipton | Written by Caroline Doyle, Jill Kopelman | Directed by Michael Lange
Intern is about an intern at Skirt magazine, a rival to Vogue. It starts in a mockumentary style and then becomes a straight-up parody on the fashion magazine industry. It’s frankly atrocious. The characters are caricatures of anything you might encounter in the industry, the main character is uninteresting and there’s a pointless side-story about a mole giving stories to Vogue. Most bewilderingly is an odd cameo from Gwyneth Paltrow, who is sat with the Editor-At-Large of Vogue in a throw-away dinner scene which adds nothing to the story, and if anything makes Paltrow look like a fucking idiot for ever thinking this was a good idea.
Joan Rivers and Kathy Griffin appear as editors on the magazine, during what must have been after only the...
