The third season release of Major Crimes is hitting May 26th, and I’ve got your opportunity to win one of three copies of the DVD!
The show, a spin-off of The Closer, has been doing well since it premiered, and the third season was the #3 scripted drama on basic cable.
Moreover, despite not kicking off all that well, it’s a show that has grown into itself, and found a more solid base of existence. The quality has grown in many respects, and the cases were far more interesting in the third season.
Mary McDonnell seems more comfortable, due in large part to the writing giving her a broader base of character to work with.
If you aren’t caught up, now is the perfect chance to get ready for the fourth season.

The Los Angeles movie industry turns its attention to the next generation of cinematic storytellers this weekend. On Feb. 12, the inaugural Los Angeles Student Media Festival will showcase work from budding high school filmmakers. Twenty-six young finalists from throughout L.A. will debut their short-film projects to a theater-size audience. A panel of five industry professionals judged more than 100 films and handpicked the most artistically driven short pieces. Major film studios and television networks have taken notice of these fresh talents: Disney, NBC Universal, Paramount, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. are sponsoring the screening at Los Angeles Center Studios' Beaudry Theater. The finalists, representing 12 public and private schools, will receive a prize that countless aspiring directors seek: a foot in the Hollywood door. City Councilman Paul Krekorian created the Los Angeles Student Media Festival to provide a new opportunity for local teens. The former assistant majority leader of the state...

TNT’s hit series The Closer has been looked upon for a potential spin-off. The network has decided to further milk the successful cop drama by getting creator and executive producer James Duff to spawn a new series based on The Closer, which stars Kyra Sedgewick as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson, a skilled detective and officer at the Priority Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The yet-untitled spin-off is currently code named The Fixer, and is being co-written by The Closer co-executive producer Adam Belanoff and Michael Berchem. However, it is still unclear whether the spin-off will focus on an existing Closer character, or an entirely different individual. Nonetheless, TNT confirmed that they have ordered a script, without disclosing any more details. Additionally, Greer Shephard and Michael Robin will executively produce the yet-untitled new show.

The biggest drama on cable is eyeing a spinoff.
The forces behind TNT's "The Closer," including creator/executive producer James Duff, are working on a spinoff from the hit cop drama starring Kyra Sedgwick.
TNT confirmed that it has handed out a script order for the spinoff but declined comment on other details.
"Closer" stars Sedgwick as a deputy police chief who has a love-hate relationship with junk food. It's unclear whether the untitled spinoff -- referred to in industry circles as "The Fixer" -- would focus on an existing "Closer" character or an altogether new one.
Like "Closer," the spinoff hails from Warner Bros. Television and the Shephard/Robin Co.
Duff is co-writing the story with "Closer" co-executive producer Adam Belanoff and Michael Berchem. Duff and Belanoff will co-write the script and also executive produce with Michael M. Robin and Greer Shephard.
