During the making of The Thing (1982), Rob lived on the set in
Los Angeles, California, where he worked seven days a week for over a year. He slept on set
and in laboratories. When the project was completed,
John Carpenter sent him to the hospital where he was diagnosed
with extreme exhaustion.
