Kim Gwizdala and Nikka Markarian have driven four hours to be here today. They’ve dressed in Dallas-style outfits (cropped jackets and black suede cowboy boots) and are sporting Reagan-era ’dos (blown out and heavily feathered). And now, these best friends from Las Vegas, both 32, will spend several more hours in line at a hotel in Burbank, waiting to meet the 83-year-old actress who, decades ago — before Gwizdala and Markarian were even born — played J.R. Ewing’s long-suffering wife. The character who tried to buy a baby on the black market, spent the better part of a season locked away in a sanitarium and whose sister shot her husband.

Brooke Shields revealed that The Blue Lagoon director Randal Kleiser has tried to contact her after the release of her new Hulu documentary Pretty Baby.
In the documentary, the actor and supermodel accused Kleiser of wanting “to sell my sexual awakening.”
Shields starred in the 1980 film alongside Christopher Atkins. Aged 14 and 18 at the time of filming, respectively, Shields and Atkins played cousins who were stranded on a deserted island.
As the characters matured into adulthood, they fell in love and had a child together.
Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday (11 April), Shields was asked whether any of the male directors she mentions in the documentary have reached out to her.
“I saw [Kleiser’s] name on my phone, and I was like, ‘Oh, what do I do?’ and I let it go to voicemail,” Shields said. “Because I was like, ‘I want to see what the tone is.’ He wants to chat.

Publicity executive Jeffrey Ballard, who represented Charlie Sheen for many years through his company Jeff Ballard PR, died Jan. 30 in Santa Monica after a five-year battle with cancer. He was 64.
His death was confirmed by his friend Brad Bessey.
Charlie Sheen said in a statement, “As my publicist of 37 years, it’s no secret that he had his work cut out for him. He met every challenge head on with class and patience. As my dear friend of 40 years, he was equally loyal and generous to a fault. Safe travels Jb, you are sorely missed, now and forever.”
Ballard got his start in Hollywood while still a teenager, crashing the set of “Eight is Enough” as a high school journalism student and signing his first two clients — the show’s stars Adam Rich and Dick Van Patten.
He was dubbed the “boy publicist to the stars,” and opened Jeff Ballard P.

In her forthcoming documentary about her life and long career, Brooke Shields describes in detail an assault she experienced at the hands of somebody she terms “an industry insider”.
The actress and author tells how she was in her early 20s when she met the man – someone she considered a friend – for dinner, then went to his hotel room to order a cab home while he left the room. Soon, she describes, he returned to the room where he attacked her.
“He was right on me. It was just like wrestling,” she says, and adds that, at the time, she blamed herself for drinking wine and going to his room.
She recounts the story in the ABC News/Hulu Lana Wilson-directed docuseries Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields that premiered at Sundance. Pretty Baby – named after one of her films – which explores the way she became an object of sexual desire...

Brooke Shields is hoping young stars are shielded from experiences like on “The Blue Lagoon” nowadays.
The iconic actress starred in the shipwreck film at age 14 opposite then-18-year-old Christopher Atkins. The duo played two cousins-turned-lovers who consummate their relationship after their boat is shipwrecked in the South Pacific. The 1980 controversial film featured nudity from both Shields and Atkins.
“Never again will a movie be made like that,” Shields said during her “Now What?” iHeartRadio podcast. “It wouldn’t be allowed.”
Atkins agreed, adding, “Oh gosh, no. Animals were hurt in the movie. We were spearing fish and all kinds of crazy things. Children are naked running down a beach; couldn’t do that now.”
While Shields and Atkins were encouraged by production (and Shields’ mother) to have an off-screen romantic relationship, the duo agreed their stark age difference made the pressure uncomfortable.

Brooke Shields has claimed that her film Blue Lagoon would not be made today.
The actor starred in the 1980 film alongside Christopher Atkins. Aged 14 and 18 at the time of filming, respectively, Shields and Atkins played cousins who were stranded on a deserted island.
As the characters matured into adulthood, they fell in love and had a child together.
Though the film received poor reviews from critics, Blue Lagoon was a commercial success – it made 58m (£47m) at the box office, and came ninth in North America’s list of highest-grossing films in 1980.
Atkins was a recent guest on Shields’ podcast, Now What?, and they looked back at their experience making the film decades ago.
In Shields’s view, Blue Lagoon wouldn’t be made under today’s standards.
“Never again will a movie be made like that,” she said on the episode, released on Tuesday (20 December). “It wouldn’t be allowed.

'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl': Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' review: Mostly an enjoyable romp (Oscar Movie Series) Pirate movies were a Hollywood staple for about three decades, from the mid-'20s (The Sea Hawk, The Black Pirate) to the mid-to-late '50s (Moonfleet, The Buccaneer), when the genre, by then mostly relegated to B films, began to die down. Sporadic resurrections in the '80s and '90s turned out to be critical and commercial bombs (Pirates, Cutthroat Island), something that didn't bode well for the Walt Disney Company's $140 million-budgeted film "adaptation" of one of their theme-park rides. But Neptune's mood has apparently improved with the arrival of the new century. He smiled – grinned would be a more appropriate word – on the Gore Verbinski-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,...

Newcastle have been dealt another demoralising blow in their efforts to sign a striker after it emerged that Bafetimbi Gomis has held talks over a move to China.
Our pursuit of Gomis is close to turning into a fully-blown transfer saga and speculation surrounding his next destination after running down his contact at Lyon has been endless with a host of clubs from the Premier League and around Europe reportedly keeping tabs on him.
However, Chris Atkins, a writer for Espn, beinSPORT and Bleacher Report, has attempted to clarify Gomis’ future in a tweet that states the 28-year-old has spoken to Shanghai Shenua over a surprise switch to China in July.
Also, I'm being told talks are taking place between Bafetembi Gomis and Shanghai Shenhua over a move next month. @FrenchFtWeekly #Exclusive

Presenting “Love Always,” a recurring feature in which we pay tribute to the women who helped shape our views on pop culture.
This time we pay a 49th birthday tribute to one of the great child stars of all time, who overcame the pitfalls of Hollywood to carve out a successful adult career.
Here are ten reasons why I will Love Always … Brooke Shields.
She Introduced Us To Christopher Atkins And Martin Hewitt
In Blue Lagoon, Brooke and her breast merkin introduced us to the natural wonders of Christopher Atkins, and the two would learn the ways of sex by watching giant sea turtles copulating. The following year, in Endless Love, she would once again come through for us by giving us one of the most underrated bits of 80′s beefcake, Martin Hewitt.
She Gave Catherine O’Hara One Of Her Greatest Roles

While there’s nothing terribly new about The Legend of Hercules, which opens on Friday, there’s at least the joy of seeing Kellan Lutz shirtless for nearly 90 minutes. Lutz is the latest actor to bare all in a tiny loincloth (or similar gladiator-esque attire) on the big screen. Everyone from Russell Crowe to Brad Pitt has wowed fans with their bulging pecs, washboard abs and tiny frocks. Enjoy a Gif recap of these sexy leading men:
15) Jason Momoa, Conan the Barbarian (2011)
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger before him, Jason Momoa brings the gun show to the role of Conan in little-seen remake of the film.
14) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Scorpion King (2002)
After his breakout in The Mummy Returns, The Rock spins his bulging chest into a prequel film.
13) Taylor Kitsch’s Nipple, John Carter (2012)
This flop is good for only one thing: Taylor Kitsch’s nipple.

Washington, December 7: Christopher Atkins has revealed that the director of his film 'Blue Lagoon' had wanted him to be attracted towards his co-star Brooke Shields.
Aktins has said on 'Oprah: Where Are They Now', that the cast had spent the first two weeks living on a boat and getting into character, the Huffington Post reported.
He said that he was 18-years-old and Shields was just 14, and the director had stuck a picture of her over his bunk on the boat so that he could start getting attracted to her.
The 52-year-old said that if the attraction comes out in his eyes, it will come out in real time on film.

Bicycles
Premium Rush is a strange anomaly when it comes to bicycle movies, because it deals with the reality of urban cycling: every journey involves zipping between objects massive enough to immediately kill you, and the constant risk of slamming your spine awkwardly on the side of a skip because someone opened their car door unexpectedly. Traditionally, however, bikes on film tend to represent innocence and freedom. While his future lay in dystopian sci-fi and Russell Crowe grunting at things, Ridley Scott's first ever short Boy And Bicycle was concerned with nothing more than showing a young Tony Scott contemplatively pedalling around west Hartlepool and Seaton Carew when he should have been at school. With the current Sedona, writer/director/producer Tommy Stovall establishes that showcasing good-hearted, spiritually eccentric people with the power to revamp big-city workaholics into Thoreaus and Elizabeth Gilberts is his modus operandi.
A tiny, low-budget American indie, Sedona is a love letter to this small Arizona town with its jaw-dropping red sandstone formations, a major draw for those seeking mystical transformations. Just imagine a lush National Geographic special with uplifting plot lines.
Sedona’s initial tale concerns Tammy (Titanic’s Frances Fisher), a middle-aged businesswoman driving on to Phoenix for a major advertising deal. The dear, frazzled coffee-addict, though, just might never reach her desired destination. Fate? First, her auto is damaged by a small privately owned plane forced to land on the highway due to engine trouble. Then she’s apprised her car parts have to be ordered, so to pass time she winds up getting a foot massage...

While "Magic Mike" is in theaters we're looking back at memorable movie strippers
It's hard to know what possessed Oscar winning director John Avildsen to make the very trashy A Night in Heaven (1983), and less than a decade after his Rocky triumph at that. But make it he did. This one time paycable regular is about a schoolmarm community college professor named Faye (Lesley Ann Warren) who falls for a student named Rick (Christopher Atkins) once she sees, uh, more of him at her local bar's Ladie's Night. It takes place in Florida and considering that this is the only major theatrical motion picture about a male stripper before Magic Mike which also takes place there, does this mean that Florida is the capital of pelvic thrusts and loincloths... or just ceaselessly horny?
By day Rick's cocky glibness irritates Faye in speech class where she flunks him. But by night...

You might not know Brenton Thwaites' name now, but you certainly will a year from now when he plays Prince Charming in the Angelina Jolie/Elle Fanning film "Maleficent." But if you want an early introduction to the young Australian actor, he stars alongside fellow Aussie Indiana Evans in Lifetime's "Blue Lagoon" remake, "Blue Lagoon: The Awakening."
Thwaites stars as Dean, a slacker high-schooler who winds up on a deserted island with his goody-goody classmate, Emma, after an accident on a school trip to Trinidad. The film shot in Maui, which Thwaites tells Zap2it he loved since it reminds him of his home in the tropical North Queensland town of Cairns.
