As we’ve highlighted in previous videos and articles, those who exclusively purchase films through online services are not truly guaranteed to have it available in their collection when the buyer is at the whim of the service provider. The seemingly iron-clad way to have a movie ready-to-watch is if you can have it at your fingertips. There are thankfully some distribution brands that are releasing movies that have been previously hard to find. Shout Factory is one of those brands, and the company has now released details on the restoration of Quigley Down Under on Blu-ray.com.
Directed by Simon Wincer (Lonesome Dove), Quigley Down Under stars Tom Selleck as sharpshooter Matt Quigley. “Arriving in Australia with nothing more than a saddle and his prized six-foot Sharps rifle, American sharpshooter Matthew Quigley thinks he’s been hired to kill off wild dogs,” reads the description. “But when he realizes...

You’ll remember during the pandemic, Steven Soderbergh revealed he wrote three scripts in a three-month blaze at the beginning of lockdown. One of them was a sequel to “Sex, Lies, and Videotape.”

In honor of the Sundance Film Festival’s 40th Anniversary, The Hollywood Reporter is looking back at the reviews of some of the festival’s biggest premieres. Steven Soderbergh’s sex, lies and videotape established him as a filmmaking force and premiered at the fest when it was still called the United States Film Festival. THR’s original review is below:
John and Ann are on the fast track: He’s just been made partner, and she’s decorated their condo with exquisite good taste. They’re a Yuppie couple in all outward respects, but they don’t make love, and he’s fooling around with her sister. That’s the dark gist of this penetrating, moving and darkly funny independent feature. Voted the Audience Favorite at the United States Film Festival, sex, lies and videotape should win a distributor handsome notices as well as long Saturday-night lines of those in relationships– good,...

Disney+ and Tim Allen are teaming up again to spread some more holiday cheer, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
That's right, folks. We are fast approaching the premiere of The Santa Clauses Season 2.
To celebrate, Disney+ has unveiled the trailer and key art for the six-part second chapter.
"The Calvin family is back at the North Pole, as Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted when he failed to find a worthy successor in season one," the logline teases.
"Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Cal (Austin Kane) to eventually take over the 'family business' as Santa Claus."
In addition to Allen, who will executive produce and reprise the beloved role of Santa/Scott Calvin, the new season stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol.

Even though we're not done with Halloween, Disney isn't wasting anytime digging back into the world of Santa Claus with a second season of the Disney+ original series "The Santa Clauses." Tim Allen is back as jolly old Saint Nick, and now he's focusing on turning all the happenings at the North Pole into a family business. Elizabeth Mitchell is still as supportive as ever as Mrs. Claus, Cal Calvin Claus (Austin Kane) is preparing to eventually become Santa Claus at some point with a little Santa training program, and Sandra Calvin Claus is helping out in the background by taking care of the reindeer and whatnot.
Of course, getting the North Pole in shape for Christmas isn't their biggest concern; there's trouble brewing in the form of another Santa Claus. Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") is playing Magnus Antas or The Mad Santa. Apparently, he thinks Scott Calvin's version...

It's kind of baffling that "The Santa Clause" is one of those franchises that's still going on today. It feels like something we should be talking about in hushed whispers. Like, "Hey, remember that Disney movie where Tim Allen commits manslaughter against Santa Claus and then undergoes a Cronenbergian physical transformation into Jolly Old St. Nick after inadvertently entering a contractual agreement to take his place? The '90s were wild, man." To be fair, I'm sure even Allen had no idea he would still be playing the cynical toy marketing director turned fabled gift-giver Scott Calvin almost 30 years after starring in the original "Santa Clause".
Yet, here we are in 2023, with season 2 of the Disney+ sequel series "The Santa Clauses" right around the corner. Season 1, much like the feature-length "Santa Clause" sequels before it, was far from a critical darling, but it absolutely has its supporters and brought in...

[This story contains spoilers for the first two episodes of Barry season four.]
Justice just wasn’t enough for Gene Cousineau.
In the season three finale of Barry, Henry Winkler’s character and Jim Moss (Robert Wisdom) had Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) dead to rights for the attempted murder of Moss, as well as his previous murder of Moss’ daughter and Gene’s girlfriend, Janice (Paula Newsome). However, in the two-episode premiere of Barry’s fourth and final season, Gene has potentially put the case in jeopardy by delivering a one-man show to Vanity Fair journalist Lon Oneil (Patrick Fischler) about his entire history with his murderous acting student, something he and Moss explicitly agreed not to do.
Prior to his one-man show, Gene had already made the news for his brave efforts that helped catch Barry, and he went on to receive a hero’s welcome from the live-studio audience during a taping of his show, MasterClass. He even got to gloat...

Eric Stonestreet, who comes off as a big teddy bear in ABC’s Modern Family, is about to get angry. Stonestreet is joining the cast of The Santa Clauses Season 2 as Magnus Antas, otherwise known as the Mad Santa. This not-so-jolly Christmas-themed character reigned in the 14th century and is returning to take Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) off the board and reclaim the North Pole. What a jerk! I thought Santa was supposed to be nice!
In The Santa Clauses Season 2, the Calvin family returns to the North Pole after Scott’s retirement plan falls apart faster than Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree in a soft breeze. After failing to find a successor, but still saving Christmas, Scott begins training his son Calvin to eventually take over the “family business” as Santa Claus.
The Santa Clauses Season 2 is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, and is currently in production.

Scott Calvin's reign on The Santa Clauses may not be ending as planned.
Disney+ made a shocking announcement this week:
The Santa Clauses will return for Season 2!
“This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis said in a statement.
“Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season.”
The news is somewhat surprising. Before the series was even picked up, reports stated it would be a limited series revival that would seemingly bring Tim Allen's alter ego full circle.
Now, it sounds like there will be plenty of Scott and his family on the agenda because we're getting a full-fledged second season.

When he says it is hard to believe that it has been twenty-eight years since he became Santa, it was a moment that made me realize how long it has been since the 1994 premiere of The Santa Clause. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS Season 20 Episode 3 “Unearth.”] The good news: Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) is still in therapy with Dr. Grace Confalone (Laura San Giacomo) and isn’t drinking on NCIS. The bad news is: He’s being slow to take the necessary steps. Torres has never been a morning person, but watching the sunrise, he admits … makes him want to break out in song, Grace finishes for him. “What you’re experiencing right now is known in recovery as the pink cloud,” she warns him. He knows what she will say next: “It won’t last forever.” Not only that, but it’s very important that Torres have a support system in place. Part of that is finding a sponsor, which he has yet to do. And, she stresses, he needs to try to open up to others, no matter how difficult that might be for him. What about his team, doesn’t he trust them?...

NCIS is at its best when it has a satisfying case that calls for all of the series regulars.
NCIS Season 20 Episode 3 was a diamond in the rough because it utilized everyone and was a captivating subject matter.
Who doesn't love the thought of finding old artifacts and examining their meaning?
Finding out how they got there is intriguing, but "Unearth" took that one step further by having a group of people interested in said artifacts.
Aside from NCIS Season 20 Episode 1, there have been few stakes on NCIS, but knowing that Wilmer Valderrama has many exciting projects in the works made it difficult not to ponder what could become of Torres.
If you watch NCIS online, you know he's been working through some deeply rooted issues that have been disrupting his life for a long time.
He's undeniably impacted the series throughout his tenure, so losing him would probably make many people stop watching.

D23 isn’t just for Marvel, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. It’s also there to put you in the holiday mood! Over the weekend at the packed D23 Expo, the first footage of the upcoming series The Santa Clauses was revealed.
The short teaser for The Santa Clauses–which was announced earlier this year–continues the saga of Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) by actually ending it. Starting to age out of the role, Calvin announces his retirement from the role.
In The Santa Clauses teaser, he tells a room of devastated elves, “For the good of Christmas, for the good of my family, I, Santa Claus, have decided to retire.” From there, we see him begin the audition process, with a rather amusing cameo from NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, who retired in 2016 and is apparently having trouble paying the bills.

Relativity, as we first told you, picked up Violet after its world premiere at SXSW.
The pic follows Violet Calder (Olivia Munn) as she realizes that she can no longer ignore the daily barrage of self-criticisms (voiced by Justin Theroux) that clouds her life. These self-criticism cause her to make fear-based decisions and hold her back from the kind of professional, personal, and romantic life she knows she wants. Unsure how to live a life free of that self-doubt, like her childhood friend Red (Luke Bracey), Violet realizes she has no choice but to travel the road that is more frightening to her than the fear that holds her back: Doing everything differently.

Exclusive: Relativity Media has acquired North American rights to Justine Bateman’s debut feature Violet, which recently premiered at SXSW. Relativity is looking to release the movie in theaters later this year.
Written and directed by the 2x Primetime Emmy nominated Family Ties star, Violet stars Olivia Munn, Luke Bracey (Hacksaw Ridge) and Justin Theroux (Mosquito Coast).
Pic centers around Violet Morton (Munn), who realizes her life has been built on a foundation of lies after a friend’s off-hand comment to her. Unable to shake the new awareness that her fear-based decisions have dismantled her romantic, professional, and personal life, Violet begins to feel suffocated by her past choices. Seeing that it is impossible to unwind what she now knows, Violet has no choice but to battle forward to become her true self.

Fans of the ‘90s aesthetic have a special appreciation for the television that came out of the era, especially classic sitcoms including “The Nanny,” which is now officially streaming on HBO Max. The series, co-created by Fran Drescher who stars as a straight-talking Jewish fashionista from Queens who gets hired as a nanny to the children of a former Broadway star, is one of the many classic TV shows that you can find on streaming platforms.
That’s the great thing about streaming, it’s an easy way to get to your favorite shows, but it can also be overwhelming, what with all the content floating around to choose from. Chances are you’re already familiar with Netflix,...

Earlier this week, we lost George Segal, who died at the age of 87 of complications from bypass surgery.
One of the most memorable roles of the versatile actor, whose credits range from the Oscar-nominated performance in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? to his final role on ABC’s The Goldbergs, was on the hit NBC comedy series Just Shoot Me!, created by Steve Levitan. Segal played fashion magazine publisher Frank Gallo on the show, which aired for seven seasons from 1997-2003. “This was a happy seven years,” Segal said of his run on the show during a June 2020 reunion.
Here is what Levitan remembers about working with Segal on Just Shoot Me!, which also starred David Spade, Laura San Giacomo, Wendie Malick and Enrico Colantoni, and what he will miss about him the most.
What I’ll miss most is his laugh. There was simply nothing better than the guffaw...

It might be interesting to take a poll and see just who remembers Laura San Giacomo these days and who might look at you funny for asking about her. As someone that came up through theater acting and became pretty popular at one point, it’s kind of hard to think that she’s been relegated to being noticed every now and then, but hey, that’s what happens to some folks when they get older. But over the course of her career, she’s taken on a few roles that people can easily remember and recognize, and it’s been a lot of fun

This article contains spoilers for episode 2 of The Stand.
In episode 2 of the new CBS All Access adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, “Pocket Savior,” we are introduced to Larry Underwood (Jovan Adepo), a musician and drug addict who’s on the cusp of success when the Captain Trips superflu circles the globe and lays waste to 99% of the population.
We also meet Lloyd Henreid (Nat Wolff), a convicted murderer who does everything possible to stay alive behind bars until, alone, starving and losing his mind, he comes suddenly face to face with the Dark Man, Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgard), who makes an offer that Lloyd can’t refuse.
Like the series premiere, “The End,” in which we met fellow major characters Stu Redman (James Marsden), Frannie Goldsmith (Odessa Young), Harold Lauder (Owen Teague) and Mother Abigail (Whoopi Goldberg), “Pocket Savior” doesn’t tell the story of Larry or the others in linear fashion.
